While driving around looking for furniture stores we saw this and had to stop! Inside is a small butcher section when the meats prepackaged and ready to go. They had tomahawk steaks! We of course bought one. They had a small selection of canned and jarred goods. Then outside were the meat vending machines! Stocked with steaks and bacon and just about every standard cut you could think of. And you can use your card to purchase! This is definitely going to become our go to butcher

I was even surprised that there was a sushi section with fresh sushi and Asian items. Everything was placed and easily found. German efficiency at it's best. The staff were helpful despite the language barrier. The only thing is that Germans are used to bank cards over credit cards so be wary of that. The store itself was clean and well maintained. You do have to pack all your items yourself and they are used to the patrons being quick so keep that in mind.

With that said, they have these amazing ginger shots that I have yet to find anywhere else so I always buy them up when I see them. They also have a nice wine and beer selection. If you're American and saving receipts for VAT, they don't have a very clearly defined process here. We did it for a month but it was so confusing and such a headache that we've decided to just use edeka for our one of needs and go to different stores to save our VAT receipts. Will I return? Absolutely. But it's still not my favorite.

There is a delicatessen downstairs and the restaurant is upstairs. I would recommend reservations as it can be a problem with the downstairs staff not wanting to seat you. Once you are upstairs, you will have excellent service. The view is of the little courtyard in the square but it is peaceful and away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Their wine choices pair well with the food and there are recommendations. I've been a few times now and have enjoyed sausages, a plate of cold cuts and a rabbit terrine. If you find yourself looking for a good quiet lunch spot, I'd recommend Porcus.
