What a cool idea! I had been struggling trying to figure out how to get those special cuts of meat…read moreand was having trouble ordering them at the butcher in my local grocery store. While driving around looking for furniture stores we saw this and had to stop! Inside is a small butcher section when the meats prepackaged and ready to go. They had tomahawk steaks! We of course bought one. They had a small selection of canned and jarred goods. Then outside were the meat vending machines! Stocked with steaks and bacon and just about every standard cut you could think of. And you can use your card to purchase! This is definitely going to become our go to butcher

There are many butcher shop options in my area but this one takes the cake. Whether it is rendered tallow for my soap making business or an unsual cut of meat for Germans - they never disappoint. Flatiron Steaks as well as brisket are not very known around here. They took time to research and age the perfect cuts for me. And that although they are a large butchershop and probably could have brushed me off. We are fans. Mehl forever.

I was even surprised that there was a sushi section with fresh sushi and Asian items. Everything was placed and easily found. German efficiency at it's best. The staff were helpful despite the language barrier. The only thing is that Germans are used to bank cards over credit cards so be wary of that. The store itself was clean and well maintained. You do have to pack all your items yourself and they are used to the patrons being quick so keep that in mind.

If you are tired of having sausage and cold cuts (charcuterie) then this is not your place. If you…read morereally want good charcuterie or a relaxing lunch with a menu fixe; this is your place. The plates average around 20 euros per person and are all made from high quality meat. All the sides are fresh and are of excellent quality to match the meal. I've been to many of the weinstubs in Strasbourg and I have tried similar dishes but the quality is not the same quality level of Porcus. There is a delicatessen downstairs and the restaurant is upstairs. I would recommend reservations as it can be a problem with the downstairs staff not wanting to seat you. Once you are upstairs, you will have excellent service. The view is of the little courtyard in the square but it is peaceful and away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Their wine choices pair well with the food and there are recommendations. I've been a few times now and have enjoyed sausages, a plate of cold cuts and a rabbit terrine. If you find yourself looking for a good quiet lunch spot, I'd recommend Porcus.
