Metropolitan Pediatrics is top notch. As a heathcare provider who has worked as a medical assistant and nurse in pediatrics, I personally know what a well functioning team should look like and they check all the boxes. From making the appointment to check-in to getting checked out. The whole experience was pleasant. They are consistently considerate, professional, great with my kids, and the providers don't act like they are in a hurry to get to their next patient. Dr. Lin is perfect for my 15 year old daughter. Gwen her nurse/assistant is a treasure! Mr. Casey was so personable and patient with my 13 year old son at our establish appointment. So very pleased to have him as my son's primary care provider. My teens are neurodivergent and are very squeamish around blood draws and immunizations. They have a whole menu of comfort measures they offer the kids for distractions, from sour lollipops, to cold spray, to using plastic sheath called a shot blocker designed to distract the kids from the pain of the injection. Doctor Emily Wood and her team administered a 3rd dose of the MMR-V vaccine to my son who had already had the standard 2 doses which provides full immunization for life. They did the same with the TDap. When I called, she acknowledged that it was an error and apologized. She mentioned that errors happen. Vaccines are a touchy subject, and I expected more care and consideration or at least double checking before jabbing my son. I don't think that is too much to ask. This was my first visit to Metropolitan Pediatrics (I relocated from out of state). It is a shame that on my very first visit, an error of this magnitude happened. I will not be returning nor recommending this clinic to anyone. read more

We've gone here for over 10 years for wellness check-ups. I like how close it is to our home and the doctors are generally nice. However, the secretaries are incredibly difficult. I have been told that I'll be called to schedule next appointments. When I haven't been called in a week, I'll usually call, and by that time their appointments are too far out. When I expressed my frustrations, the woman simply restated the next available appointment date. Everything could be fixed if I could simply get ahold of the doctor to refill a prescription. I will be switching clinics soon. It's a nice environment, but their staff are careless. read more

We have a group home. Some of our kids have gotten care here for years. It is run very efficiently, and the providers seem capable. The one thing that is disappointing and perplexing is their doctors lack of concern when something traumatic happens. One of our girls was raped. She didn't need medical care here, the police sent her to the sexual assault resource center, but I used Metropolitan pediatrics patient messaging system to inform her doctor that she had been raped, in case they had any recommendations or advice. Her doctor did not acknowledge my message. And two months later, when this child saw her doctor, the doctor did not mention the rape. a couple of months after that one of our kids made a pretty serious suicide attempt. I used the messaging system to let the doctor know this had happened, and to share OHSU's Emergency room discharge plan. Again, the doctor did not acknowledge, let alone respond to our message. And again, did not ask how our child was doing when they saw each other a few months later. Metropolitan pediatrics did not acknowledge either of these young people's traumatic experiences in any way. Because it happened twice it made me wonder, "Is this a Metropolitan pediatrics policy? Has their lawyer told them not to acknowledge trauma reported by their patients? Is this some new practice we hadn't heard of before?" I found this so unexpected, I asked about it anonymously on social media. Several people suggested the doctor must not have received either of my messages. I don't believe this was true, they are on top of their messaging system. Others suggested that I wasn't clear about what had happenedin the messages I sent (nope, there was no room for confusion.) people were shocked that these kids' pediatrician didn't so much as send good thoughts to patients, let alone ask if there was anything they could do to help. The common message was "time to look for a new doctor." These experiences have colored my relationship with metropolitan pediatrics. I hoped to help the kids have trusting relationships with their medical providers, but these experiences suggest metropolitan pediatrics is more like zoomcare clinics than I expected, like clinics where you don't expect to have a relationship with your doctor. read more

Updated with reply: Thank you for the timely reply. I am spending all these time writing about the experience because it's so frustrating that you liked the doctor and office but somehow the administrative system confuses you. I understand when you have extra diagnosis there should be an extra charge. My frustration comes from the fact that no other clinics we have been to deemed this an extra service ( and since we moved around over the years I have been to at least 3 different clinics before). When you go in a well check, they do physical exam; they ask about your concerns and the doctor checks and explains things to you. I have never seen these conversations written under medical diagnosis ( because there is no medical condition) I still don't understand how this is considered extra service. To be fair, they agreed to write it off but they also emphasized in a very condescending way that this is a one time courtesy and I should be aware of what questions to ask in my future visit. So my opinion is the charge is not valid in the first place so I don't understand how this is a " courtesy". Angie, very frustrating since the office visit is pleasant. The one star is given to the doctor and office staff because they are professional and nice. I had a good experience going there. But I am definitely not coming back because their billing department is greedy and crazy. We just moved to Oregon so I am maybe biased based on my past experience but this is what happened. We went in for a well check ( and this is my 5th year as a parent so I know how the procedure usually is). They asked in the questionnaire if I have any concern. My younger one has always had a nose bleeding issue which I have talked to his previous doctor and they have confirmed it's just dry nose and nothing serious. Since they asked I wrote it down again. ( we talked about it every time when we go well check because I want to make sure things are still ok). Dr Lin asked about if he has other bleeding issues and then peeked into his nose. She told me , the same as my previous doctor, nothing is serious; it might just be dryness or he is slightly allergic so if I like I can buy some over the counter medication for him; she also added it's not necessary since the blooding usually happens after he pokes his nose; he should be able to grow out of it. All these are consistent with the previous doctors. To me, it's like a casual conversation you have with a doctor on your routine check, like talking about eating, sleeping, milestones, etc. they ended up sending me a 92 dollar check after the insurance company paid 150. I called. They told me since I asked the nose bleeding question,they think it's something out of the scope of a well check. They deed it a diagnosis. I asked , how this is a diagnosis when the doctor told me it's nothing? And there is no medication prescribed. They didn't have an answer. They asked me to check with my insurance company in the future before I come in for a well check so I don't need to get extra charge. I am beyond speech at this point. So when you go into the office, you should never ask anything outside of height and weight? Again, I have never had an issue when talking about the same thing with other doctors and clinics before, however in metropolitan pediatric, every word matters, just in the worst possible way. read more

So far so good. We've started working with them for our newborn. I selected them because they have multiple providers and infrastructure and they answered the phone when I called to survey them. The doctors and nurses are nice to work with, seem to be knowledgeable and the rooms are clean. They use the legacy myhealth system for online accounts which we have good experience with in the past. We haven't had to get a sick appointment on short notice yet so I don't have feedback on that but we talked with advice nurse on the phone and were able to get through easily. read more

I use to go here and they were ok for me but I've taken my daughter who was born this year here and all my concerns just get brushed off like nothing. We get no solutions to these issues or things my baby has been severely struggling with and we feel completely ignored. We really love this place and they are so accommodating. My son had to come here for the first time in March for his 6 year checkup and they were able to get us in relatively quickly especially when COVID-19 had just started and schools had just closed. Dr. Chiu was very nice and helpful. She had read my sons whole history since our insurance had changed at the beginning of the year. I had to call recently to speak to an advice nurse her name was Carol and she was the sweetest. She got us an appointment for the next day and was able to work around our schedule. When we went in for the appointment the front desk staff were so sweet and nice. We saw the nurse practitioner Tamra, my son loved her and her CNA. My son had to do a test he was very nervous about and they let me and my husband switch places because he wanted his dad for that part. Both parents aren't allowed in the room right now due to Covid-19. Thanks to all the staff at metropolitan pediatrics!! read more

I have to give a low review due to my experience. The Dr's weren't upfront with how often we would have to come back to the office in person for check-ups and it's difficult to get an appointment that is not 1-months away when you call in. In addition, the office staff is not empathetic(my experience again). When I asked 2 times for a Dr. to communicate with me.. nothing. Now, my child will not have medication. again. It's not like people can just go somewhere else these days either. I called back again today and all the office recording states is.. "we are closed". At 1:40 in the afternoon on a Tuesday, where the office hours state 8-6. They used to take appointments on Saturday. Now, only urgent care- but never bothered to update their patients about it. read more

We love Metropolitan Pediatrics. My son has been seeing Dr Sweeney since he was a newborn and she has been absolutely wonderful with him. I appreciate how she always takes the time to answer any questions/concerns I have. The staff here are always friendly and making appointments have been quick and easy. I appreciate the reminder calls we get a couple days before each appt. The waiting room is clean and spacious. There are several play areas for the kids along with a beautiful aquarium. After a traumatizing event from our previous provider, we went to Dr. Baliga to establish new care for our girls. The staff, medical assistant, and Dr. Baliga herself were so welcoming and kind. They looked like they genuinely loved their job despite being in the middle of a pandemic. They took us in so fast and made every step of the way go smoothly. We have been coming here for years. While the office looks nice, and we do like our pediatrician. I would not recommend taking your children here. It is extremely difficult to get appointments- usually they are months out. Even making a simple Med check is difficult. At first I didn't mind the clinic when I first moved they welcome new patients all the same, but once your a patient your just another number. I recently scheduled exams for my boys I mentioned them being sick and they were also do for a well check, I mentioned my son needed to be evaluated for school reason, as a mother of multiple small kids I have to schedule my boys together and usually during my lunch hour or take a day off. I get to the clinic for an 11:30 appointment minding when my son is on lunch from school and I can get lunch at work. I get there and am told "oh sorry your appointment was at 11" im not sure about anyone else but I have worked and do work in many medical practice who call patient if they are late, apparently this place doesn't care to do that and you snooze you lose? That's my opinion, my boys love their doctor and they wanted to see him, on the way out they asked why we are leaving and I said the schedule got messed up. The woman at the front immediate walked over to the other woman at the desk ready to talk about the situation. Again I work in the medical field myself, I don't like every patient but the answers given to me of "oh well sorry" and "yeah not a lot I can do" or offering an appointment 2-3 weeks later with two different providers was definitely not patient appropriate. Im taking them their for one last well check and then I'll be looking for another provider. read more

I've been so disappointed by the exchanges with the front office team here over the past couple years. I stay because the providers and medical staff are great. It's just too bad you have to go through the front to get to them. They're short and dismissive on the phone. You get the bare minimum what you ask for. They offer very little solutions. Never seems to be any openings or you have to wait forever to get in. They don't make eye contact when you come in, take forever to acknowledge you're there. They don't smile or interact with the children. It use to be a warm friendly place. This front office team makes it feel like it's a mill and you a number. If your teenage daughter ever questions her gender identity, do not expect Metro Pediatrics to help you with her mental health. Metro Pediatrics will celebrate the fact that your daughter was able to share her confusion and will completely disregard you as a parent. Like me, you will stand in that room, stunned, while the pediatrician, after talking alone with your child for just 15 minutes, will embrace your child's claim that she might be trans without question. The pediatrician will even affirm your daughter supposed chosen gender and without missing a beat she will ask her what pronoun she should be using. As I felt the world disappearing around me, she then gave us a referral to a Trans clinic. For those of you blissfully unaware, these clinics will be only too happy to pump your precious daughter full of testosterone and encourage double mastectomies. I expected Metro Pediatrics to prescribe anti-depressants and guide us to a reputable psychologist to find the real reasons why our daughter is hurting. She never questioned being a girl until a year ago after battling with puberty, anxiety and isolation for over a year during Covid. Beware of this new gender ideology being pushed on your kids from all directions. First the Internet is full of it, the schools are teaching it and now the Doctors are directing your children to Transgender clinics in order to irrevocably change themselves. I have never felt so betrayed by a medical practice before. After I left a negative response on their internal survey, they terminated our access to the patient portal. I hope this warning will help other parents. read more

We have had an okay experience here at Metropolitan Pediatrics. I was a patient for 10 years, received excellent care, and had no doubt in my mind that it was where I wanted to take my son after he was born. The pediatrician I used to see unfortunately had passed away before he was born so I decided to schedule an appointment with another seasoned, highly recommended doctor. While the pediatrician interacted very well with my son, I feel like we had a personality clash and were not on the same page with parenting styles. It bothered me that instead of working with how our family was doing things, she made me feel like I was doing things was compeltely "wrong". At both my 4 and 6 month old visits, I was presented with out of date information. For the topics addressed in my appointments, I have researched and am knowledgeable on the current American Academy of Pediatrics recommendations. It is concerning to me that I was receiving information that is no longer supported by the current evidence based practices. Needless to say, we have scheduled our next appointment with a different pediatrician in the same office, in hopes that things will go better from here on out. I would recommend that other parents know the current recommendations and guidelines topics they feel to be important before they walk through the doors. read more

I'm beyond disappointed and frustrated. My son has shown signs of anxiety and ocd since he was 3. We didn't end up finding a really good doctor until my son was about 7, her name was Dr. Sweeney. She actually understood my son and he was happy there and comfortable with her. Having anxiety for a child makes it hard to trust anyone but I was so happy for the first time he actually wanted to go to the doctor. He was finally diagnosed with anxiety but still not ocd to this day. My daughter and I have spent countless hours watching videos and reading books to figure this out. So we end up at the doctor one day and there's a new doctor. She was nice, still not Sweeney but nice. A year before her he was put on a referral list for a therapist who could help but metropolitan let that slide under the rug somehow and the referral was lost. His anxiety got so bad I had to pull him from school. I'm a single mother homeschooling and everyday having to help my son get through the day, trying naturopathic meds and coping tools but it just wasn't working. I had been there so many times begging for help because my son wouldn't eat due to anxiety. I have zero support and I'm not a doctor or a psychologist so here I am doing my best, talking to the social worker there and trusting them to help. I understand this is my child but I'm not equipped to help him anymore then I have. A year a a half later, finally we get an appointment. My son is behind in online school because the anxiety has taken a toll so we are playing catch up. I get a note from his online school that he needs caught up on vaccines. I assume because he's been going there forever I can get a note because they have all his records and have information on him having a staring seizure after a vaccine so that is why we take them slow (plus he's home schooled) well, turns out no records for that because the assistant manager said " it could of been before electronic records" and the doctor doesn't feel comfortable writing a note because she doesn't know him well enough so now he's locked out of class, I have to take another exemption class and in the meantime he is missing more school. He's 11 now, 11! I've been bringing him for mental health stuff since he was 5. I feel like they've not only let him down but me too. I'm a single mom. I don't feel like they've taken me serious at all. The doctor doesn't know him well enough to write a simple letter but knew him well enough to suggest medication for anxiety!? My son hasn't had enough therapy consistently to even say he needs medication. That makes no sense. I've cried to the doctor, social worker and receptionists here begging for help over and over and after talking to the manager Sierra today I can say I don't feel they truly even care. He is 11. How many years were wasted and my son has only gotten worse. I don't feel supported in a place you should feel the most supported. I hope no other mother has to go through something like this feeling alone update- I took this down and gave them another shot after a child psychologist said to have him tested for pandas. So, new doctor, horrible bed side manner not understanding the severity of how our lives are being affected. Cuts me off every two seconds telling me basically there's no test for that. Long story short- my son has a panic attack, she says " I'll let him calm down but I have to see other appointments because I can't wait on him" I walked out. I'm done here. I'll never ever bring my child somewhere again where there is zero empathy to what he is going through. I feel if we had better healthcare long ago we wouldn't even be sitting here struggling. If your child has mental health issues avoid this place. The only good doctor has left. read more

I just got off the phone with this office and spoke with one of the ladies, Figann, she seem to make things so complicated and difficult. All I was asking for was for my son's form to clear him for sports after his physical. She sounded bother to hear from me and finally check to see if they had the form. I asked to speak to a manager as I was feeling very uncomfortable talking to her, no customer service skills, and sounded like I was bothering her. I was transferred to Kim the office manager, even though I finally got the papers faxed over to me, she seem to have the same attitude. I have gone to this office for 20 years with both my sons.... luckily my youngest will be turning 18 next year and I will be looking for a new office. No kindness, no people skills. They really have turned things around. They have been more accessible and do everything to get us in for a same day or next day appointment now. Worked through a sports injury concussion with Dr. Murdick for my daughter and she was amazing. Dr. Murdick acknowledged how difficult it was from an emotional level for my daughter to have to be out of play and she was supportive and caring through the process. I realized how much of a connection and a positive impact our pediatrician has with my daughter and that was really nice to experience. read more

Both of my children, now 21 years old and 16 years, have come here for years. They have seen Dr. Rydell who is hilarious, warm and thorough in her explanations, diagnosis and treatments. My daughter was sad when she finally had to find an adults' physician. The front desk employees have always been easy to work with, and calling in to speak with a nurse usually gets a prompt response. You may end up waiting at times but they are good about squeezing you in if there is something that is really needed, so if you are willing to accept that as a trade off. We love them there and are grateful for the services we have received there over the many years. read more

Just want to point out that Dr. Moshosfky is amazing. Both my babies see him. recently I had an odd experience with my 2 yo. On June 27th my son had appt for a wellness check. My son does not do good at the drs. Hates everything about it. He did not want to get his weight done in the beginning. So the nurse left it for the end. My son is super shy and will cry if he's touched by other people. It's at the end of the appointment and the nurse comes in and just grabs my son out of my lap without MY permission! Puts him on the scale. I felt violated. I was very upset with this experience I have never had a nurse just grab my son w out my permission. What we could've had done is weight myself first and then weight my son and I holding him. This nurse did not seem to know what he was doing! My son was crying really bad!I do not remember this nurses name. But this is yet the worst experience I've had here at metro. read more

The office looks great upon walking in--big Portland mural on one wall, the fish tank, the library books, etc but they way it operates is not so pretty. Every time I have had an appointment, I have had to wait an extremely long amount of time before being taken back. The last time I was in with my son, we had to wait almost an hour past our appointment time before the assistant took us back. He took his measurements, made his notes and advised doctor would be in shortly. Then guess what we did--waited more for the doctor. No apologies, just a flippant comment to the effect of 'emergencies happen unfortunately'. As if my time is not worth anything. We were there for his 6 month checkup and vaccinations--silly me, I also thought this was when I brought up any concerns with the doctor. A month later, a bill arrives for an ADDITIONAL office visit because I asked about his cough. Yes, another visit charge because I asked a question, doc listened to lungs (which she was going to do anyways) and checked his oxygen level. She then said why don't you try an inhaler. A huge work up was not done, nor did the appointment run extremely long because of this one question (ran long because it started an hour late!). Many calls to the billing office later, we were unable to get the charge reversed; nor were we told up front that asking this question would result in an additional fee. I am transferring out of this practice because of the above. That is also not so easy. They will not accept my medical release form via email, but will accept medical records via email. How does that even make any sense? I would seriously think twice before entrusting this office to care for your child. It might look pretty on the outside, but they need to put the patients first, and make things easier for us busy parents, not more difficult. read more

Terrible office processes. Dr. Weil was not a good physician either. He was more than happy to have my kids seen for office visits, but never ordered tests when appropriate. Counseling office was another disappointment...they lure you in believing they customize care, but really they have a woman counselor who simply intakes and makes recommendations...recommendations who are not in the wheelhouse of coverage by my insurance...total waste of time and zero ROI. Most insurance companies make recommendations for free, no wait no co-pay. This clinic is all about big promises and zero effectiveness. read more

The waiting room and office are very big and look new. Most of the staff we encountered were courteous and professional. We made an appointment for our pre-schooler's routine annual physical at least a month ago, we arrived a few minutes before our scheduled appointment with all of our paperwork completed. The waiting room had maybe three-four other families, and I wasn't aware of any emergencies. Still, we waited over an hour to be seen! When the doctor came in the room she didn't acknowledge that she was late, which makes me think she didn't notice or care that she'd kept us sitting there for so long. This kind of disrespect for families' time created a bad initial impression. It doesn't work for my family to have to plan for the likelihood that a routine 1:00 pm appointment means the doctor won't show up until 2:25. If our other child didn't have a play date we would have had to leave without being seen to go meet her school bus. Our insurance carrier considers this clinic to be our "Medical Home"-- we're supposed to come here for all of our kids' medical needs, and we need to get approval from the doc here before we can seek any care anywhere else. The thing is, we have young children, and this was our first appointment at the clinic, with the first child, you know, the really important appointment where you establish rapport with the person who is to be your child's doctor. But when the doc came in she didn't make eye contact, didn't shake hands, didn't offer a brief pleasantry. She pretty much ignored us, the parents, as she did a quick exam of our child. When she was done she got up and left the room saying over her shoulder "see you in a year unless she needs to come in sooner". It was more like what I would expect if we were long time patients in for a quick walk-in appointment for a child with a sore throat. We had no experience of the doctor acknowledge us as being related to our child or having anything to contribute to her assessment of our child's health and development--a child she had never met before. Definitely not what we imagined when we read the description of our kids' new "Medical Home"! We're looking for a new pediatrician that thinks about children as members of families, and parents as being allies in the care of their children. The advice nurses are seriously the most patient and understanding women. They never make me feel silly or stupid for the reasons I call. They are so helpful and kind! Love our pediatrician but overall experience here is subpar- front office staff seem slow and and disorganized. I've been asked each visit for insurance and ID for copy because "they're updating their system". We are never in on time with a minimum wait time of 30 mins to an hour. Although I love our pediatrician, it's not worth it for us settle for subpar service just to see the doctor. Brokenhearted to find another pediatrician but can't deal with bad service & long wait times each visit. read more

Dr. Murdick was absolutely wonderful. My son had experienced a painful condition for over 5 years. Our previous pediatrician had told us he would outgrow it. We finally switched doctors after so many YEARS of frustration. Within a few minutes of our visit, Dr. Murdick noticed, diagnosed his condition and referred us to a specialist. She then spent another 40 MINUTES with us. I've never had such an attentive experience from a doctor before! I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Murdick! She is amazing. read more

I can't say enough good things about Metro Peds. The staff is helpful, friendly, and most of all always go out of their way to get our needs met. My son was recently diagnosed with Crohn's disease and if it wasn't for the urgency that Dr. Moore and Dr. Ell showed he would've been sick much longer. We received personal phone calls over the weekend, during the week and so on making sure my son was doing ok. They truly care about their patients on a personal level. I never feel rushed or unheard. We have used Metro for about 3 years now. Dr. Weill, Dr. Ell and Dr. Chavis are great!! They have all impressed us with their knowledge and great approach to children and their fear of doctors/new things. The office is clean and inviting! Very child friendly. The front desk staff are inviting also and are mostly knowledgeable and friendly. The medical assistant staff are less than impressive however. They are somewhat rotating and I often don't recognize them from each visit to the next. That's worrisome to me when they are providing my children with shots, taking weight/measurements, ect. You need to be certain these things are done properly and accurate! Very critical! They often aren't very friendly or personable. Is it that hard to smile and actual mean it? So...The wait times are way too long. Usually you get called into your appointment 15 minutes late so don't show up early. And expect to sit in the room for 15 to 30 minutes after the medical assistant leaves the room. The rooms are not extremely small but get very hot, especially with children moving around, so don't dress hot! And lastly, this makes no sense to me and is too common with doctors offices... You sit down, tell the medical assistant why you are there (ie: kid is sick... They say okay what are the symptoms? You reply cough, sore throat, fever, ect. they ask how long has this been happening? You say 3 days, ect. So you spend 5 minutes with your children jumping all over the room after waiting as I said above to say all of this... Only for the doctor to come in, again after waiting, to REPEAT everything. It's like the doctors (all listed above) didn't read the medical notes?! Or they are playing dumb to see if your story changes? Or they don't have enough time to review your notes taken by medical assistant? Why make us repeat everything!? Seems like we could just say my child has a cold! And give the details to the actual doctor. Anyways, overall a great place and we'll be coming for years to come! read more

This is the last time. Been going here for 10 years and the "service" in the last couple years has been dismal. Always, always at least 20-40 minute wait AFTER your scheduled appointment. Be prepared for an hour of waiting and 10 minutes of service. After seeing the physician 3 mos ago for an injury, went back to recheck since it had not gotten better for the response of 'come back in a couple months if it is not better'. No x-ray, no MRI,no anything. Oye, really? My child deserves better than that! Horrible service, not sure about competency. Will not return. read more

I have been taking my sons here (west side office) for about 3 years now and always had the best experience. Dr. Moshofsky was their pediatrician and both my husband and i loved him. Always made our little ones feel comfortable and happy. He is very knowledgable and caring. All his staff was always so nice as well and friendly even the receptionists. I loved taking my kids here! Wish i could take him with us to where we are moving. Great office!! read more
