When you are stuck in the whirlwind of details, preparation, paranoia and caring for the love of…read moreyour life you are asked to do one small other thing before your bouncing baby tax deductions comes popping out from behind the fleshy curtain. Find the Doctor to care for your sick child and ensure his/her well being. Oh. Is that all? How in the heck do I ever start to do that? In my case it started with talking with friends and co-workers who have children. As I hunted the elusive prey one name popped up several times, Dr. Kathleen Hutchinson and the folks at Evergreen Pediatrics. It took one phone call and arrange for her to be our Tax Deduction's Doctor. After he came flopping out of The Wife the people at Evergreen were all over making sure he was healthy (unfortunately they couldn't do much about the quaking mass of paranoia that was at the time his new Father). Not just Dr. Hutchinson, but several of the Doctors were involved in his first couple of days on the planet. Since then, through colds, ear infections, sinus infections and one particularly scary incident to us as new parents it's been all Dr. Hutchinson and her nurse, Dorothy. I couldn't say enough about them or recommend them highly enough. Even if you call the emergency number late, she calls fast enough to make your head spin and follows up the next day if you have to see another Doctor. So next time you find yourself knocked up in the 'Couve and need a good Doctor might I suggest this one?

She barely acknowledges the child in the room and is always asking invasive questions about our mixed race family. I get the feeling she feels she's bonding w us however when she ignores the sick child in the room I am more than concerned. I'm not here for social hour and I just don't believe she has the knowledge or skills to handle our specific child's needs. I've lost trust w the Chkldrens clinic due to Dodi and the office manager who I don't know the name but is severely overweight white woman who is very condescending to her subordinates. It's embarrassing to witness to say the least.

When it was our turn the attending nurse was very blunt and had no real beside manner. The clinician came in literally yelling at us saying we didn't fill out a questionnaire my son was not comfortable disclosing saying he was mandated to do it by law. Which is not true. Then when my son stood his ground and it was clear he upset us. He tried to act goofy and ask personal questions and garner personal plans and information. Then at the end of the visit, he teased my son who is extremely afraid of needles about going to the back and mixing up a shot to give him. Poor judgement and quality of care at this place. Only reason we finished the appointment was to get this OSAA Physical paperwork signed. Not impressed at this location.

I am writing this review right after leaving, so it is fresh in my mind…read more I have a 15 year old with a bizarre needle phobia.... like off the charts. She had a bleeding disorder as a young child that involved weekly blood draws. The draws just never went well, and as each one happened, my kiddo became more and more damaged. Don't get me wrong, my daughter is TOUGH. Like she will shoulder thump a bigger kid for being a bully. She is not scared of a single thing in the world. She has taken on steep skiing slopes, and handled herself in a raft going down a class five. But pop her in a doctor office with a teeny tiny needle, and the girl is a freak-out, sobbing, kicking and screaming MESS. It is BAD. Over the years, we have gone to places for shots that have held her down, snuck up on her and criticized her to get the shots in her (ZoomCare). So of course, all of these tactics have only made things worse. Today I took her in for 3 vaccines. We have been a bit past due because of the issues. You see, Metro Peds won't give the shot without consent. And so for the last 2 years, I have brought my kiddo in numerous times hoping that today would be the day. Only with no luck, at all. Today we went in again. She was prepared. She had her numbing cream, she had done her self talk. She felt ready. And once again, we spent an hour in the office, with no luck. I was so pissed! It was not one of my finer mommy moments. You see, they told us that today was the last try, if she couldn't do it today then she would have to start exposure therapy with a behavioral health clinic. And as a single mom with three kids, one of which is currently dealing with some severe medical issues that require numerous weekly office visits - my brain just could not wrap around the idea of one more kid in my house requiring weekly doctor visits. I lost it. Like legit. We left the office, and as we went into the hallway towards the elevator, my daughter was profusely apologizing. And, well, I just didn't care. I told her I knew I wasn't handling the moment well.... but come on! Then she felt horrible and wanted to go back in, and I said no dice. "They told you that was it! They said no more office visits until you go through therapy!" And she was sobbing begging to go back and make it right. And I was crying. This lovely lady came out of a side office door, and asked us to come into her office. I was immediately mortified. I glanced in her office door and saw the couch, the teddy bears, the boxes of tissues, along with the inspirational quotes on the wall - and I thought to myself "great, the shrink needs to see me now. Awesome" I was absolutely mortified. I tried to pass, tell her we were fine, we would just be going home. But she insisted, and explained she was the clinic manger. She wanted to talk and find out how she could help. My daughter gladly stormed into her office, so I had no choice. And I was quickly feeling like the worst mom ever. The woman (I wish I caught her name), talked us through what was going on, and asked me if I would allow her to give Olivia another chance at getting her shots. I figured, what a waste of time, but whatever. She seemed confident, I knew there was no way, but why not really prove to her how crazy the situation is. I just could not stop crying; between frustration, exhaustion, embarrassment... I was a mess. She brought back the same MA that had already spent an hour trying to give my daughter her vaccines. They talked strategy, they came up with a plan. So... long story short. It took another hour, but my kiddo got her vaccines! And she walked out proud with her head high. And I walked out still crying but for so many other reasons. I am so grateful to this clinic. I have no idea where these ladies get their patience from, but they are saints. I really respect their "consent only" policy with shots. And I am so grateful that they did not give up on my girl. This is the best in the business, and a very safe place to take your children.

Our favorite providers (Dr Pritchard and Nancy Casey) left. Some staff members can be pretty unhelpful and truly only seem to care about their billing and rules. The other negative reviews are spot on, sadly. (The current exception is Jonathan, a medical assistant in the adult clinic--he's kind, personable, and was excellent with my teen, but alas, he only does the check in/vitals part). They are consistently late--we always wait at least 30 minutes up to an hour most recently for our appointment to begin, and this is in addition to taking kids out of school to be there 15-20 minutes early to check in! They absolutely do not respect a patient's time and offer zero apology. It's maddening. I've messaged different providers for different family members or reasons, and the same person writes back each time, so it's definitely not secure or private in any way. She also types the absolute minimum and doesn't seem to want to help in any way, but if you call, they tell you to message via the portal. They up-charged us for longer or more involved appointments for my kids even though we've only discussed one issue at the short appointment, and when I questioned the billing department, they said they'd immediately remove the charge since I asked about it. Since I asked?! So if people don't notice and question the additional charge, they just get scammed? Appalling. They recently told me the next available check in for a child was in several months. I said our prescription will lapse before then, and they asked if I still wanted to schedule. I had to point out in writing that they need to refill the prescription temporarily so it doesn't lapse if we have to wait for an appointment or else please fit us in for even a video appointment. I had to fight this back and forth and once I said I need to confirm you are refusing to refill a child's necessary medicine prescription and also making her wait for an appointment so the medicine will lapse and it will affect her health immediately--finally then they suddenly had an appointment available in two days (which was a video appointment where we waited almost an hour for them to come online and didn't until I called the office and told them we were online waiting.) The final straw was in taking a teen to discuss a medical issue they were already anxious about, and the provider made a big deal about her weight to the point of hinting that she'll develop an eating disorder (child feels fine about their diet and eats well/healthy) and we left the appointment with teen crying and anxious about a condition they don't even have! We're done with SMC, and I'm so sad. Dr Pritchard and Nancy Casey were amazing women and great resources for our neighborhood, but sadly this place has gone so far downhill since they left that I won't risk my kids' health here anymore.

Dr. Hadeed was their primary when they were little and as they've gotten older their busy schedule doesn't always fit his. I have nothing but good things to say about Dr. Hadeed after 19 years with him. He is so knowledgeable that the other doctors often ask his advice while we're there. He is very personable, so much that my daughter accidentally called him uncle during a year that she was sick and saw him often. The wait to schedule and see him is long, but I've found that if it's not too urgent then it is worth it. He has long enough experience and clinical intuition to know how to treat my kids with less tests. When I saw less experienced practitioners, they ordered more tests and it ended up taking more time. As my daughters grew older and busier, they saw Dr. Ankur Shah who is also personable and easy to ask questions. There is a wait when you arrive at the clinic so expect at least an extra hour when you schedule an appointment. If you need to be seen right away try to schedule first thing in the morning. It is not a fast food restaurant. But when we see the practitioners they address all our concerns.

Dr. Unrau, Dr. Rosborough + Dr. Collin Dean (child psychologist) | Great staff | Great after-hours…read moreservice We've been coming here since my daughter was born. She's now 4 years old. Her first pediatrician was Dr. Audrey Unrau. She's now retired, but she provided excellent care for our little one, and now we find the same level of care and assurance with Dr. Rosborough. We've also come in to see a few other doctors and nurses for issues that needed immediate attention and all are professional, knowledgeable, and kind. It is rare that we experience long wait times, but the very few times we do, we were updated and given options to reschedule or stay. Our kiddo is very shy and doesn't easily warm up to new people and places at first. Both Dr. Unrau and Dr. Rosborough knew how to interact with our little one, making her feel comfortable while carrying on with exams. They're extremely patient and offer excellent advice. I never feel rushed with the list of questions I present them nor do I feel pressured to do anything I don't feel comfortable giving or practicing with my family. I've been able to get my kid in immediately when something like a mysterious rash suddenly pops up. I value the after-hours service too. Care shouldn't be limited to business hours and that's something they recognize. Talking to their nurses after hours has been very helpful in that they provide knowledgeable advice, assurance, and are able to schedule immediate appointments if necessary. The nurses are very patient. When my daughter was a young toddler, she was VERY fearful of the weight scales and height measurement ruler, and I really liked that nurses like Mia (sp?) were very understanding and patient. She told me she wanted to create positive experiences for my kid at the doctor's office, so she didn't want to push it too much with the eye and hearing tests before our exam. She offered other alternatives and offered another time to have it done. The rooms are bright and fun. The waiting room has fun fish tanks that my daughter always remembers and looks forward to seeing. We haven't experienced any rude staff and were never made to feel like we were another patient. We appreciate the level of care here and would recommend this place to others looking for a good care team for their kids. Other things worth mentioning: they have a great team of psychologists for all ages. When we needed some help with behavior regarding tantrums, potty training, and mealtime, Dr. Collin Dean provided very insightful advice to help us understand the developmental changes going on with our toddler. I highly recommend him.
