This practice used to be called "Goldman and Jaffe". I see Dr. Waseem Hussain. Dr. Hussain is young, hip, humorous, well informed, caring, easy to talk to.....I just cannot say enough about how fabulous he is! He is a native English speaker, if that matters to you. He never makes me feel rushed. He tells me what I need to hear without being judgmental. No long waits for appointments. The parking situation is good; the waiting room is spacious and comfortable. There are plenty of helpful receptionists. Follow up xrays, MRIs, ultra-sounds, cardiac tests, etc. can be had in the same building. Dr. H's Dad just joined the practice! Haven't met him yet, however, I was seen once by Dr. Malik, and she's pretty great. A friend went to see Dr. Chalabi, and liked him as well. I have ventured far afield of PG County for some medical appointments because of some hideous experiences with other local practitioners, but Metropolitan Medical is an oasis of professionalism and competence. read more

just because i can't give NO Star i am forced to give 1 star. Though they have some good doctors there, it's the worst worst worst of the worst customer service in DC area. these people never ever answer the goddamn phone. we are patients/ customers calling with an emergency , but they wouldn't answer the phone. it's been happening for many years. i even talked to the manager of the building a hispanic female, i talked to the doctor about it. but still no one answers the phone . when i was there i have heard many parities being upset for not answering the phone calls. if you have an option to go somewhere else please do that and do yourself a favor. i had to literally drive 20 miles for some that that would be a 2 minutes phone call. read more

Once again the officectells me to arrive 30 min early but they don't staff desk until 7:20. My appt was 7:30 but made me wait. Why isn't my time respected? Luminous was to improve but they haven't. Couldn't check out because staff chose to stand around and chat even though they saw me at the check out window. read more

If you are looking for a top notch endocrinologist who personifies everything you could ever want in a primary care physician, Dr. Waseem Hussain is it. Not only does he possess incredible expertise, he wields it with genuine care for your long- and short-term well-being. My life got better the moment I became his patient. It is hard to imagine him not connecting with someone, and he can engage in terrific conversation on everything from James Baldwin to J.M. DeMatteis. read more

This is the BEST Dr I have been to ever!! The staff is so genuine and friendly and they are always happy and smiling! I appreciate the little things like this, they are also very clean and the Dr's are all thorough and make sure they get to the root of your problem and make sure they fix it right read more

Metropolitan Medical Specialists - Huge waiting area, I don't feel cramped or confined - Medical Centers Near Me - Lanham, Maryland

We used to love coming here. Our dr was always prompt and quick and attend to ur needs. Dr Malik was our doctor. We loved her. But since they switch management company. It is very difficult to schedule apt. Their phone line keeps ringing and goes straight to voicemail. Even when we left a message for them to call no one return our call. Now we had to wait in the waiting room for 30mins to an hour for our new dr to see us. read more

My PCP is Dr. Yablonowitz. He and his assistant are fantastic. I don't mind that sometimes I have to wait a little longer because I know he's treating his patient as well as he treats me. Each of my visits have been about an hour, unless I was long-winded about my symptoms. Both of them are really professional without being mechanical. They are patient and I believe they are sincere in their care of their patients. I have never had a problem with any of the staff and I've been going there for over 3 years. Also, get this: the bathrooms are CLEAN and so is the waiting area. I appreciate that the lab and imaging facilities are right there in the same building. read more

Very unprofessional and inefficient! I had an emergency appointment with a specialist and the office never produced medical documentation to the referring office to be seen! It seems as if they will answer your request through the portal but never follow through. The office will never answer the phone directly and you will always be put on an extensive hold! I will be leaving the practice as i am in search for a new one! I give this practice negative zero stars, however there is not an option to choose for that!!!!!!!! read more

I have gone to Doctor Jaffe (with Dr. Goldman for over 25 years. His practice expended to the Metropolitan Medical Specialists and was recently been taken by Luminus Health. I was distressed to find that they sent Dr. Jaffe packing. I adored Dr. Jaffe. All my medical files are there, so I had to pick another one of their doctors. I have tried one of the ones Dr. Jaffe recommended and found him to be difficult to relate to. I am going to try the other one he recommended. If I can't deal with him also, I am going to have to go hunting for another doctor. I regard their staff to be great, but the doctor is the most important one of the picture. It is important to realize that it is easier to communicate with the staff via the Patient Portal. As for referrals, new or renew prescriptions. I have been very happy with the Portal as it doesn't require sitting on hold and you can be clear what it is you need from the doctor. I can even request the doctor to contact me, but it is up to the doctor to make that work. I really hate Luminus for the cavalier way they are destroying this once magnificent practice read more

My doctor no longer is there (Dr Feldman) who I LOVED. I did not stay because of the front office which is from H*LL!! They do not answer phones and/or leave you on hold until the end of time. Not respectful of the customers. And NOW, I have been trying to get a hold of my medical records for almost an entire year with my current dr submitting requests 3 times in this timeframe. No responses. I myself have tried calling where I left a voice message (no return call or release of records) and today I called again and was 7th in line until my turn when the phone just dropped! They need to be closed by Maryland Board of Physicians. read more

I'm very upset with this medical practice! I have been a patient here for thirty + years. i recently ran out of a medication I have taken for years only to find out that the doctor had refused the refill. Forget it if you want to talk to someone here! Impossible! No way to talk to a doc or nurse. I tried everything. I couldn't even make an appointment. I don't know what's happened here but don't believe the "community outreach" bs on their website! I am switching practices today, I told my new doctor that there was no way for me to get my medical records. They said to let them do it. Hopefully that will work....I don't have much hope. read more

I was referred to Don Yablonowitz, MD by a co-worker of my wife's when he had a solo practice up a little closer to where I live and still in Lanham. He since hooked up with a larger medical practice and moved to offices adjacent to Doctors Community Hospital. Dr. Yablonowitz himself is fantastic. He's a great listener and has a great sense of humor. He will also try to approach your various ailments without drugs or "procedures" if possible. An all around good guy. The new multi-physician practice is a little daunting and the waiting room has the feeling of a train station - different windows for different doctors, lots and lots of support staff. Appointments on the 10 minutes. (My next follow up is at 9:10am - not 9:00 or 9:30 but 9:10). They do their own blood work now which helps with efficiency and convenience. I'll still be going to see Dr. Yablonowitz, for sure. read more

Dr Waseem Hussein is a great doctor. I highly recommend him. Most of the office staff is average to subpar. But the office is next to Doctors Community Hospital and has a nice parking garage next to it. read more

Was on hold 43 mins. today before admin staff finally took my call. Had to listen to the same song for the entire time. NO options to leave a message and get a callback. Admin staff was able to assist me satisfactorily. How unprofessional this medical practice has become! My husband and I have been patients there for at least 20 years and this new office culture is unacceptable. I told the admin staff I was hold today for 43 mins before she answered and she said, they've been trying to figure out for the past year (!!) what's wrong with the phone system. Really? I only gave a 1*, because Yelp wouldn't post my review until I gave it a star. So, so disappointing! read more

I'm giving this practice 3 stars because it contains the best and worst. Best: my physician, Waseem Hussain. He's smart and efficient without seeming rushed. He also really knows his medicine and is obviously well-read and current on his medical knowledge. If it were just about him, I'd rate 10 stars out of 5. Next best: the medical assistants. They're kind, attentive, and knowledgeable. The biggest downside is one of his colleagues who used to be my doctor, Tasneem Malik. She's pretty and all that and she's a good doctor -- unless you're sick. I had been seeing her for about a year for basic health care when I went to her office after feeling extraordinarily fatigued along with some other symptoms. She diagnosed me with a urinary tract infection. Three more days of fatigue and I was almost crawling into her office. She sent her PA out into the waiting room to tell me to go to the hospital. Turns out I had internal bleeding and needed two pints of blood. Several physicians I talked to later said that I had classic symptoms of internal bleeding and she should have known what was going on right away. Also, the office staff can be hit or miss. I was on hold for 15 minutes a couple of days ago when someone came on and asked if I could hold longer. I said I'd already been on hold for 15 minutes, but that I'd wait. (I was in my car, so why not?) I was on hold for about another 5 minutes and when the office picked up, I was immediately transferred to voicemail. I referred a friend to the office who ended walking out because of the office staff. So if you're able to see Dr. Hussain, that's great, but otherwise you might be taking your life into your own hands. read more

I was a patient for seven years and only stayed because if Dr. Malik. She left the practice in March 2020 and I've been trying to get my medical records ever since. The front office is rubbish and has been since my very first visit but again, I truly appreciated Dr. Malik and stayed with her for that reason. Without fail, every visit was delayed, calls were not answered, voicemails were not returned, the only way I ever got anything completed was to go into the office. COVID prevents me from going to the office otherwise I would be there every day until I got my medical records. Also, the hours are super inconvenient. I wish I could forget this place but they are not providing me or my new doctor with my medical records. read more

This office is trash.. a friend referred me because she swore Dr. Pearson was so great. I had to wait almost 2 months for an appointment. I arrive early to fill out paperwork and was rushed to complete it only to wait almost 30 mins for my apt. Dr. Pearson and her MA were nice and attentive. Thats the only reason for one star. I was prescribed medication during this appt that requires preauthorization from my insurance. MA was supposed to send over documentation to my insurance. Doesnt and goes on vacation. THREE weeks later and countless calls to this office (plenty times couldnt get through at all because the system just drops your call because no one ever answers) I am still battling trying to get this office to send over proper visit notes for the medication. Everyone I speak to talks to me like Im calling to order a pizza and its no big deal. My insurance tells them what my notes need to say and the manager tells me my dr already locked my notes and refuses to update them. Side note I got lab work done on that initial appointment. Never got the results. Was told they would be posted in 3-5 days. 3 weeks later i ask and just as nonchalant they tell me oh yea the dr didnt review them so we didnt post them. WTF! Id rather not say what about my labs or need for the medication were but they were both dire and NO ONE that ive spoken to over the last 3 weeks cares. Doubt i ever go back. read more

I went in for a 3:15 appointment. I arrived by 3 due to theRe request of being 15 minutes early. I was not seen till 3:45. On top of the incredible delay. The front desk was incredibly dismissive and rude. The one front desk lady called me back up there informing me that my birthdate was wrong with my insurance. After some back and forth informing here that could not be possible that she must have typed it in wrong. She dismissed me yet again. Now mind you once I got home I called my insurance company and nothing was wrong the mistake was on their end. Once in the room it was the biggest waste of 30 minutes. The doctor did nothing to heel with my issue. So now I have to find a new PCP and schedule another appointment along with have my files moved over to the new office. I do not recommend this office and these doctors. read more

I like the practice but have a miserable time communicating with it. I have resorted to writing letters and sending them by fax on important issues, but often that doesn't work and sometimes the fax machine is turned off during off hours. The practice would greatly improve if there was an email address or normal fax machine in operation 24 hours a day. Ordering a pizza is easier than getting a message to my doctor. read more

Dr. W Hussain is the best. I have been a patient for years. He is young, understanding, attentive, very easy to talk to and professional. Recently, while I was on vacation, I became very ill and had to call the Dr. office for advice. I was never made to feel as if I had to wait until I was back in the state before service could be rendered. This went on for several days, I was most appreciative for their assistance while I was away and ill. I will be a patient for life. His assistant Terry is the best as well. This office is very professional in all areas. read more

Prompt service. Excellent care from Dr. Richard Feldman and Nancy Walters PA for several years. They listen to questions and give good answers and referral suggestions. I have referred friends of mine who have complicated cases who have also been happy here. Always review and update my record. Nice balance between directive and supportive guidance. read more

Dr. Waseem Hussain and his retired father prescribed me a drug and kept me on it for thirteen years. When his father retired he immediately took me off of this drug without explanation. The experience was hellish at best and for the past year the effects have been terrible. I left several messages immediately with Dr. Waseem Hussain and he stated that he never received them. Down right terrible communication. One of the worst years of my life. I have brought this to this attention on several occasions and nothing was addressed. Took my blood pressure and blood. Gave me some referrals for some other tests for people my age. Again, I tried to reach out to him for help. Help denied. Make sure what you are prescribed you research thoroughly. When you are taken off of these meds, know what the side effects are and how long it takes to go off of them. Good luck. read more

If I could give this doctors office a - star I would. Their website says " SAME DAY scheduled appointment available however when I called at 7:31 am I was told there are NO appointments available today. The office opens at 7:30am. How is it that 1 minute after the office opens there are no appointment? False advertisement. So if you are sick and need to see your primary care doctor I would highly recommend running far from this place. It so sad and wrong that I have to go to Urgent Care when I have a Primary Care Doctor. read more

I love Metropolitan Medical Specialists. My doctor is Dr. Richard Feldman and he is awesome. He listened, he cares, he is supportive and he wants his patients to have good health. His bedside manners are excellent. I have never felt rushed or made to feel like I was part of an assembly line of patients for the purpose of revenue only. I moved from Maryland where my home was only 3 blocks from this office in February 2016 to Dumfries Va. and I refuse to change to a closer doctor in my area. His nurse Stacey is also wonderful and just as attentive and caring as well as all of the office staff. . No long waiting to be seen, and quick turn around time response when you call in with a question I highly recommend Metropolitan Medical Specialists. read more
