I was interested in a natural childbirth if possible and wanted to look into having a doula to assist with that. However, assistance with the actual labor process is just one aspect of what Kiesha does. She supported me and answered questions during pregnancy. She introduced me to some great resources for breastfeeding, baby basics, and CPR classes and referred me to a chiropractor for my last month of pregnancy (which I wish I had done all along). I do not think I would have been able to have a natural birth without her. She made the entire process so pleasant and really listened to what my husband and I wanted with zero pressure. Her postpartum care may be the thing I am most thankful for. Without her I wouldn't be breastfeeding my baby. I just can't say enough good things. If you are thinking of hiring a doula, do it, and call Kiesha!

When I originally called to ask some general questions about what exactly a doula does, she was kind, patient, and so freaking educated about the process of childbirth. We were offered a tour of Baylor hospital (virtual due to COVID), newborn classes, and tons of educational resources after booking with NDDA. What stood out to me most was the fact that the all female team there just made you feel like you were so seen, every step of the way. As a Black woman, childbirth can be an extremely scary experience, just look up the statistics of mistreatment in the healthcare space for minorities. Melissa and team advocated for my husband and I. We felt taken care of every step of the way. Thank you NDDA!

My primary reason too for picking this place was the fact they offer a beautiful placenta art print. I wanted to honor my placenta because it's such an incredible and powerful organ, and I'm obsessed with the art prints. They're both framed and are hanging up in my daughters' room. I've worked with Meredith L. and Madison Prez for the placenta encapsulation. They were both very easy to contact and responded promptly over text. I worked with Madison most recently, and she picked up the placenta and quickly processed it and delivered it to my home. I got placenta pills, a tincture, the keepsake cord, and the art print. I love the packaging and branding too- very alice in wonderland. I highly recommend this service and would work with Madison again. The art print she made was stunning!

My pregnancy with my first was an overall good experience-but left me feeling a bit like a number and not a person. This pregnancy, I had so much more energy and felt much less anxious-and I owe it all to Becky's support and encouragement. "Normal" pregnancy symptoms weren't over looked and she had recommendations and cared to help me navigate every step. The way she listened and educated was really empowering and healing in and of itself. We had hour (or longer) visits and access to talk with Becky between visits in an online portal-which gave no time for concerns to fester. The way she cared for me (and my 2 year old) at each visit really surpassed expectations and I always left motivated and excited for the next visit. Being truly cared for in a medical setting is not common. All of this resulted in the easiest and quickest labor which was a huge answered prayer. She is intentional, very knowledgeable, and hilarious. Every pregnant mama needs a Becky! We were a little nervous about the cost initially-but the value and services included make Dallas Birth really a great value. So many things were included that we paid out of pocket for our first-lactation services, placenta encapsulation, birth tub, birth classes, pregnancy teas, and probably a lot more that I'm not thinking of or didn't need. And we can submit a claim to insurance after to get reimbursed. I also loved that I didn't have to research different services-Becky takes care of everything.

We contacted several Doulas that we had found by researching online and received a response from T'Arah at Mother Bear Doula Services within hours. T'Arah promptly answered our initial questions and we ended up scheduling to meet in person to talk more in depth about our expectations, wishes, past experiences, etc.. Soon after arriving at the coffee shop, just myself with my toddler in tow, we ordered some drinks and snacks and settled at a table to get to know each other. Of course it wasn't long before my son became antsy and distracted; but Tarah immediately came to the rescue, pulling coloring supplies out of her bag and playing Paw Patrol on her phone for him to watch. I had barely met her and she was already such a great help to me! ;) I felt an instant comfortability with T'Arah; I was totally comfortable with going into detail of my previous birth, which had been a traumatic experience, and could sense that she was sincerely invested in mine and my husband's concerns, wishes and preferences.. She listened, asked questions, provided advice and input and acknowledged my feelings. We shared personal stories and got to know each other more in depth than just birth related topics. More than interviewing her to be our Doula, I felt like I had just made a friend who helped me to feel excited and empowered to give birth! A few short weeks later, and after meeting with T'Arah a few more times as well as going to the hospital tour together, it was time to have our baby! I had hoped and dreamed that this birth would progress naturally, without induction, but when the time came, there were reasons for my husband and myself to ultimately decide that induction would be the safest course of action for getting our baby out as soon as we could. I was initially heartbroken and scared, but Tarah was there every step of the way, going out of her way to teach us natural labor inducing techniques which did actually help tremendously, as well as staying available to text or call for anything we needed. When the time came to be induced and start our Childbirth journey, T'Arah was present and alert, providing all the support we both needed from walking, getting snacks/drinks, talking, joking, massaging, physically holding me up, counseling, calming, etc.. in spite of being induced, T'Arah encouraged us in taking every step we could to have a birth that we truly wanted, and I succeeded in taking it one step at a time to have the natural birth I had wished for without further intervention. T'Arah played a key role in helping me have a birth experience that I am proud of and I will always be grateful to her for that. We will definitely have T'Arah as our Doula for any future babies!
