São Sebastião is where the Linha Azul (blue line) and Linha Vermelha (red line) meet. It is a free interchange between the two lines and there is signage to direct you from one to the other. The station initially opened in 1959.
At street level, this is the São Sebastião da Pedreira (Saint Sebatrian of teh Quarry) neighborhood which is where you'll find the Igreja de São Sebastião da Pedreira, the Mesquita Central de Lisboa (Lisbon Central Mosque), the Museu Calouste Gulbenkian https://www.yelp.com/biz/fundação-calouste-gulbenkian-lisboa-2?hrid=VYhMHcMrkrBVL-EAZ-ey3Q and the Bairro Azul neighborhood.
The station is underground and there are lifts from street level to ticketing and from ticketing to both train platforms. And yes, plenty of stairs. They love stairs in Lisbon!
On the Red Line, this station is the terminal station south/west. The next station towards the Airport is Saldanha. On the Blue Line, the next station towards Reboleira is Praça de Espanha and the next station towards towards Santa Apolónia is Parque.
All four platforms are side platforms.
