Chicken schnitzel with fried sauerkraut and cheese with a side of spaetzle and red cabbage, extra gravy on the side.
Suzie R.

The chicken schnitzel is so good! I got the one that comes with fried sauerkraut and cheese with a side of spaetzle and red cabbage, extra gravy on the side. Staff were amazingly friendly and safe (Covid times) and I loved every bite. My first meal in Kitchener after my move from Toronto and it was totally comforting and delicious. Made me feel right at home.

Birthday dinner for the wife!!

This was my wife's birthday choice as she loves schnitzel. We arrived and were greeted by Britney who quickly got a table together for the 7 of us. We had a table in the back area by the washrooms. When we were walking back I though to my self that this place is dated and needs an upgrade. But after a while I thought maybe they should keep it. It's part of the Metro experience. This place makes everything from scratch and you can tell. I ordered the schnitzel, rib and pig tail platter. It came with soup ( home made mushroom and pasta) garlic bread, choice of potato and choice vegetable. My wife also had the schnitzel with perogies and a cabbage roll. Both of our dinners were great! Big flavour, tender ribs, meaty pig tails and great sides! Our server Britney was great also, made a few jokes with the kids and really did a great job making sure we had everything we needed.

First things, first...! Why was this added as a "Cambodian" restaurant? Hopefully, my change goes through and it gets updated to a German restaurant. It's schnitzel, people!!! Apparently, a lot of the locals say that this is the best schnitzel in town (as Albert O. mentioned). All the locals I've spoken with note that this place is the place to go for schnitzel. I ordered the Gypsy Schnitzel for lunch today ($10.95). The gypsy schnitzel came with sauteed red and green peppers, mushrooms, and tomatoes. You also get a choice of mashed potatoes, home fries, or french fries AND either a salad (red cabbage, toss, caesar) OR vegetables. You have to choose whether you want a salad or veggie. But you get a choice of potatoe for sure! The gypsy schnitzel was good. It was fine. I'm definitely no schnitzel expert, so I can't really claim this as being good or bad, but for the quality and quantity of food and the price, I thought it was quite reasonable. The caesar salad was quite nice! Every piece of romain lettuce was covered with the caesar sauce which was not overly saucey, salty, etc. It was just right. Believe you me! I ate every single bite of my romain lettuce/caesar salad. It was good and well worth it! The home fries were also good, nicely flavored. What are home fries? Depending on where you go, I guess they can all be different, right? Well, home fries here at this location are pieces of potato cut into medium sized pieces and covered with some spices and probably pan-fried or baked. *** It looks like a small restaurant once you walk in. It's quite quaint! There are several small rooms that only hold 4-5 tables each, but it's like having secret passages .... that lead to another room that holds 4-5 tables. Pretty neat. I liked it. All in all, enjoyed it and would come back again. Rated it 3 stars because I don't know what is considered to be EXCELLENT versus not.

I love this place. I've been twice so far and both times, I've been super happy with my meals. This time I went, I told them I was allergic to dairy and he said he'd make sure that the schnitzel used only an egg wash, instead of their usual egg and milk wash. He also listed off the ingredients in the (apparently homemade) caesar dressing (mayo, red wine vinegar, fresh garlic.. lemon?) so I would be sure I was good to go. My friend also made things difficult because she can't eat pork, so she went for the chicken option at $2.50 extra. When the food came, she suspected that she actually got pork, and the server swooped in and said 'I think we made a mistake, let me take this away and we'll remake your whole meal." So she got that back in a few minutes, everything hot and freshly made. He then told us we'd be getting an apple strudel on the house for the mistake. I love how proactive they were about the whole thing. She didn't even have to say anything. Service was excellent the entire time. The guy was very friendly and personable, and the food came out pretty quickly, considering it was definitely freshly made (no frozen schnitzels!) I had the Vienna schnitzel with pig tail and my friend had the metro schnitzel (stuffed with bacon and sauerkraut). Tasty as hell. The pig tail was okay. Not a ton of meat, just a lot of fat. Tasted like pork. I LOVED the home fries, which are actually roasted potatoes with a bit of sauce on them. Addictive. The meal was more than enough, I basically ate half of it and will be enjoying the remainder for lunch today. A full plate of food + caesar salad + garlic bread = $18. Parking's out back. They also have a small party room with it's own bar at the back of the restaurant. If I lived in Kitchener, I'd definitely have my birthday here.

Went to Metro on an impromptu craving for German food. The internet said they have the best schnitzel in the region, so of course we had to try it. We arrived about an hour before their closing and the restaurant was empty. The server greeted us with a smile and offered us prompt, friendly service. The menu boasted 2 full pages of different schnitzel variations-I didn't even know you could do so much with schnitzel. We each got our own schnitzel (the classic Vienna, and the Metro stuffed with ham, bacon, and saurekraut). The schnitzel did not disappoint. It they were so delicious and perfectly fried. I probably wouldn't get the Metro again as there was a bit too much meat in there for me, but would definitely come back to try all the different schnitzel options. The portions are quite large. You'll likely need to pack half of it for another meal.

Large potion, nice service and excellent schnitzel. We take the platter for two which has four kinds of schnitzel, soup and home fries and it was great.

Caesar salad, so tasty!

Look for specialties like rouladen, schnitzel, sauerbraten and more. Since it is close to the holidays they have a roast duck special for the month of December (yum!). Prices are very reasonable and service is friendly and knowledgeable. They also are licensed so lots of options for beer, wine etc. We had the duck and schnitzel. Soooo good. The duck came with red cabbage and potato patties. The schnitzel came with home fries and steamed vegetables ( although you could have spatzle if you liked). Please note that even though their online menu shows a variety of salads for those who want lighter fare - the menu handed to us did not show those options. My friend was however able to order a Caesar salad with a grilled chicken breast which she said was wonderful. Her hubby had the rouladen. All the meals were great. We were covering the Black Forest cake at the end but could not do it ( the portions being very generous) so we took some slices to go! Great choice as it was delicious. Note- if you are small portion eaters think about sharing a meal or be prepared to take a good amount home with you!

I cannot believe the embarrassment I felt from Concordia! I thought it would be a nice day/evening out to take our German friends to Concordia for dinner and a few beers. What a disappointment - beyond pathetic! The food was nothing less than a bunch of slop I wouldn't even feed my dog. The old bag serving it was so belligerent even the woman selling the food tickets was shaking her head at the attitude. But enough of the customer service, that I can I get past because that's so typical of Canada anyway. It's the food that I have a real issue with - TOTAL GARBAGE! Lost my appetite just looking at it and just pushed the shit aside. Way to go Concordia, you really represented yourselves well in front of our German visitors. I'm sure they'll have a lot to talk about when they return home. First time in a long time....NEVER AGAIN!!!

Good place if you are looking for smoked meat!…read more The brisket (that's the main thing I came for, and ordered 2 portions, an extra $6 per portion) was just ok a little dry! The fries were excellent, rosemary and the sweet fries! The fried chicken(which was pieces of chicken, I think was chicken thighs). The pulled pork was good as well. It's a huge place with a lot of seating and outside patio as well. Great service but only one person taking orders! A little odd! I would definitely come back again!

I'm finding restaurants are downsizing portion sizes & upsizing pricing. Even charging for items that were once free such as condiments, sauces, etc. We ordered two appetizers to start. The burnt ends spatzle & cheese as well as the German beer & cheese dip. Both were good but not great as I'd hoped. There seemed to be little flavour from the dishes. My main was the pulled pork sandwich with fries. Also had a side of jalapeños corn bread. The sandwich was good but once again was missing the "umph" that I was looking for. The corn bread was simply beyond dry & close to uneatable. I'd of asked for some butter but that would have been an up-charge, I'm sure. All in all, a bit disappointing as I was expecting some extreme flavour from this place! Our server "Anna" was very polite & did a good job. I don't think this is a redo.

They serve a good brunch buffet on weekends - great for starving university kids like us. Their offerings have changed each time we went, though that may have been because it was a Father's Day one of those times. I've seen barbecued chicken, ribs, during weekend brunches etc. Some weekday dinner meals include an unlimited salad bar (eg. Senior's meals and hot turkey/beef dinners). The salad bar is limited, there was lettuce, with the choice of either 'Catalina', 'Strawberry Poppyseed' and Ranch dressings. Sliced hardboiled egg, pickles, various potato/pasta salads were also available at the salad bar.

The buffet isn't setup like a typical buffet as some items are in hot trays behind the bar where the server has to put everything on our plate. This wasn't so bad as she was very courteous and helpful however I was not impressed with the buffet food. The bacon was a 1 out 5 very fatty and unevenly cooked. Potatoes weren't crisp and I would say 10-15 items outside of the salad bar and dessert. I didn't have the prime rib but I was told it was decent. French toast soggy - it was $15/person which I felt was overpriced for the food quality. We would have appreciated water at our tables but they did come around with coffee refills a couple times Salad bar was above average with fresh items and a nice variety of dressings and fixings to choose from. Dessert table consisted of 1 or 2 homemade items with the rest being packaged baked goods and cakes. Plus side there was pitchers of juice so that isn't considered an extra but I ordered a juice before we said we wanted the buffet and had to pay extra for that , alas you can do your own whip cream! Wouldn't go back unless it was a plated breakfast or maybe to try the dinner but not for a while
