She didn't mind at all chatting about ocean safe, and sustainable and low mercury options, she was patient and interested and knowledgeable and then had some tasty cooking ideas for the local lake trout we ended up with. In fact everyone we've interacted with here has been great, fluidly bilingual and happy helpful. There are cheaper options if you're doing an econo shop but this IGA is truly great for what it is.

This location in Ste Agathe is cute and packed with goodness. The parking here is not ideal, it's mostly across the street with a very small zone for cars to swing in and pick up their groceries when they leave. During covid times they've encouraged folks to call ahead with their orders, they aren't touching cards or reusable bags, limiting their hours and the number of people in stores and providing washing stations and sterilizing cash and counters. This IGA - aside from being amazing in all the ways I described in my original review - seems to be setting the standard for how to properly operate under the current conditions so I wanted to share in the hopes of other grocery stores following their lead. When you arrive here, all the doors are closed except for one and when you enter that one there's a portable handwashing station like you'd see outside portopotties at a festival. So everyone is washing their hands as they enter. Then they are given a cart which has just been wiped down by the staff. Staff are also circulating wiping down the handles of fridge doors etc. Cashiers are using sanitizer between every customer and as you leave your cart is immediately wiped down again. This loving attention will save lives in our community and I really really appreciate it.

There is a small area in the butcher section of house smoked goods - we tried the trout last week and it was just so flavourful. We chatted with the gent in charge of the smoker and he said if you call a couple days in advance you can get a whole fish smoked for you, or a cut of local meat. Later that day we were at a tiny community festival in the park, and a few people from the Marché were there giving out free bites of waffles, and they recognized us right away from earlier in the day and said hi and made sure we'd remember their names for next time. All this to say, long live small town grocers!

The Metro feels way more like a family grocery store than the ginormous Super C on the highway and if I need to pick up a few quick things after working in the Couleur cafe I'll pop over here. The produce and meats and fish seem fresh, though I'd love to see more of an emphasis on local sustainable providers. Fish in particular should always be clearly marked with its origin since this industry is so dirty and problematic these days. The staff are super friendly and bilingual for the most part, and again this grocery has a surprisingly good selection of local microbrews and then the usual SAQ wines. All in all a great option in the area!

They have a small store on their farm in Brebeuf but this review is for their general store located along the 117, slightly north of St-Jovite and the big grocery stores. I love their emphasis on local and organic produce. In addition to selling vegetables from their own farm, they partner with multiple producers in the region, so I can always find fresh eggs or chicken that was raised in the next town over. They also try to be as zero-waste as possible, offering flours, nuts, coffee, etc in bulk, which is not easy to find in this area. The pick-up concept is simple- you make a list of items you need and someone does your groceries while you're on the phone with them. I was really grateful because one of the employees spent over 10 minutes on the phone with me and made a lot of suggestions when something was missing. It's a small store but they have everything you may need, from fruits & vegetables, frozen meats, dairy products to shampoo bars and cleaning products. The pick-up service is free but delivery costs $15 and they only deliver within a 15m radius. My order was ready within a few hours and I picked it up on their porch. It was safe and it felt nice to know that my parsnip didn't travel a billion km before ending up in my basket.
