Loved working with Bill. After some preliminary texting for questions and diagnostics, he arrived sooner than I could have hoped, identified the problem, and had repairs done in under 30 minutes. All for less than other places were charging simply for diagnosis. Also, was great to chat with while getting it all done. read more

This furnace was installed by Metro about 3 yrs ago; occasionally condensation leaks especially when intake air temperature is 20 or lower. I removed the condensation pump as it's output tube was frozen..He repaired the internal condensation leak and replaced the pump. read more

Bill gave a great quote. I was excited and gave him months to complete the work - NO SHOW; NO CALL. Very poor follow through. I left four messages and he didn't return even one call. PASS - there are many better than this. Dumbfounding considering his prior reviews from last year - something seems off. Be careful. read more

Quick and prompt service, available outside the usual 9-5! Who doesn't love a company that can work with your schedule instead of against it? We were able to get same day service in a time frame that worked for us. We were not being upsold the entire time like other companies I have used. The serviceman was more interested in helping us in a cost saving way then trying to make a fast buck. I highly recommend using Metro Heating Cooling and Mechanical services. I will certainly use them again if I end up wanting to the upgrade that ended up not being necessary. read more

We got a referral for a different HVAC company (Clint at Flow Tech Heating and Cooling, awesome guy!) who came out right away and resolved the issue. It was a part that was easily identified, since there are very few parts that could've been causing the problem. They did not charge us until the problem was fixed, unlike Bill! Clint said he never would've left a customer hanging without resolving the problem which is exactly how a business should be operated. We are so grateful for finding a different company other than Metro Heating! read more

Bill was great! I had some concerns about my furnace and Bill came out, did an inspection and some general maintenance. Not only did Bill fix our issues very quickly, he took the time to show me a few maintenance strategies that would help our old furnace last even longer. He was friendly, efficient and super helpful. I felt like I could trust him right away. I highly recommend Metro Heating and Cooling to anyone with a furnace or air conditioner. read more

Highly recommend Metro Heating Cooling. Arrived on time. Very efficient and fixed my air conditioning unit. Great service and reasonable pricing. You can't go wrong! Bill is the best. read more

We contacted Metro via Yelp and Bill contacted us within 30mins. He requested some pictures of the issue so he can bring the right tool along. We gathered some images the next day and Bill came to our house at 4pm when we made the cal at 9am. Most places we called have at least a 1-2 weeks waiting time. When he got to our place he explained what's going on, how he will fix the issue, and did further diagnostics on the entire system (not only on the part/drain pan that had the issue.). He explained more on what we can do to be energy efficient and we definitely appreciate the tips! We would highly recommend Bill for all your HVAC need! read more

I'd been putting off having my furnace and AC serviced, but I finally contacted several companies for estimates. All got back to me with emails, replys on the ad sites, etc., but Bill was the only one who actually called me back. AND he said he could come out the next day. That impressed me, so I decided to pick him. He was prompt, professional, clean (sorry other guys, but... it matters), really nice, and totally knowledgeable about all things heating/AC. In other words, a great guy - an alert, intelligent, normal person- someone who puts you right at ease. He encouraged me to watch him as he went through all the parts of my furnace, explaining everything in ways I could understand. He had good things to say about it and told me I probably wouldn't ever have to have it replaced. Wow. I'd been told otherwise, and was dreading spending thousands to have a new unit installed. Bill was incredibly patient and generous with his time, thoroughly answering my many questions. I learned so much from Bill, got a great price, and can rest happily knowing my heater is fine and working beautifully now. He's got a cutstomer for life. :-) read more

I placed a call that my furnace was broken and that I was without heat. Bill answered the phone and was at my house within an hour. He explained to me what he was doing as he did his troubleshooting. When he found the problem he quickly located the part to fix (a difficult part to find). He came back the next morning and fixed the furnace. Bill was prompt, easy to talk to, good at explaining what he was doing, efficient, and reasonably priced. read more

Temps forecasted to rise into high 90s so I set my thermostat at moderately cool 75 and went to work. When I returned, hmmm, no AC. Checked Yelp that evening, sent Bill a message, he replied same night and by 1pm the next day, all fixed! That's customer service! Turns out a mouse had eaten through a low voltage wire. You can bet I'm calling him again and also hoping the mice go elsewhere! read more

Amazing fast service! The guy came out the same day because we were boiling!! And he literally had it fixed with in the hour! Super nice and got right to work! Thank you!! read more

My fiancé and I recently purchased a home. With the first hot days of the year, we quickly found out that our AC doesn't work. Bill answered our call on a Sunday and was at our place the very next day (today). Our issue turns out to be electric and not our HVAC. Bill walked me through the issues and recommend that we have an Electrician come out as early as possible. He left his information for the Electrician to call for questions and did all of this at no cost. He was efficient, friendly, and very informative. I'll be contacting Bill for any Heating/Cooling needs and would recommend him to anyone. Fantastic service! read more

We have used Bill and Metro Heating/Cooling for the past few years and could not be more pleased with Bill and his service! Bill is very knowledgeable and honest in his assessment of the equipment, problem solving and the bottom line. I feel like we have always received solid workmanship and fair prices. We will continue to use Metro Heating/Cooling in the future as well as continue to refer him to friends. read more

Bill is the man!! He comes through in the clutch! Our AC went out in 106 degree heat we had a bad capacitor on the unit. Bill got to our home promptly and had us taken care of in 30 mins! He is very friendly, honest and fair. I trust him with all my HVAC issues. He came out twice this past winter for a couple issues and didn't disappoint then either. I will not use anyone else moving forward. I also have a good idea on costs and he is very fair with his pricing and again honest. Thanks Bill we appreciate you! The Binning family read more

Bill saved us back in June! We have an old Trane that started producing a bad, melting plastic smell (likely the windings and we had a clogged/dirty filter). Immediately called the first folks we could find to check it out... they wanted to replace the whole unit due to age and issues, and it was gonna be a lot of $$$ (especially because they created fake issues and upsell). I sought a second opinion and found Bill who not only offered a second opinion, but one that was new and different. He came out on a Sunday... yes, Sunday! Did a thorough examination (and we could totally tell he was "in the zone"). He found that our capacitor was shorted out. Had the part in his van and switched it out. $150 for his time, part and labor which was a sweet deal compared to other opinions and quotes we received. We happened to have someone else scheduled for Monday and that person came out and confirmed Bill's assessment and resolution. We were so appreciative of his honesty and expertise. Thanks, Bill! read more

Best experience! So helpful, worked with my thermostat issue step by step. I recommend Metro all day everyday!

Amazing service, truly. Bill was extremely prompt, worked quickly, has a great deal of knowledge, and charged a very fair price. Would hire Metro again in a heartbeat. read more

Got back from being out of town to a freezing house with broken furnace, called Metro Heating and Cooling, Bill answered the phone and promised to be at my house within an hour! He was very friendly, professional and helpful. Not only did he fix the problem in no time, but also had some recommendations for small house improvements to help save money. Did I mention that this was on Sunday afternoon?! Thank you! read more

Bill is outstanding. We were having Nest/AC issues and he fixed it very quickly and even pointed out some of the mistakes the recent PGE technician made. Use Metro Heating Cooling! read more

My mom who is a senior citizen called Bill at Metro Heating & Cooling about 2 months ago with a non-functioning Carrier furnace that she just had installed in July 2016. It turned out to be that the Carrier ECM blower (Carrier specific) was broken. She had just had the furnace serviced in May 2018 and changes her furnace filters regularly. Bill said that her furnace filter was CLEAN after checking it. Also he noted that there were no blower motor obstructions. He came out right away, fixed it quickly and professionally. He had the part with him. The price he charged for the whole service call and labor was reasonable. ): Carrier, on the other hand, has extremely expensive parts and they are made in China. The price for the blower was over $500 which is very close to what the dealer charges Bill for the part. We were lucky that we had Bill do the work because he came the same day! My mother didn't have any heat. Bill is extremely responsive, checks his voice mail and gives a call back promptly! He is also HONEST. And secondly, I had Bill from Metro Heating & Cooling over today. That's because I was supposed to take delivery on a gas range and the Final Mile people who deliver for Whirlpool told me that they couldn't install it because my present gas range did not have an on/off valve behind it. They told me I had to get either a plumber or HVAC person to come out and install the gas shut off valve behind the range first. They are not allowed to work on any gas ranges that do not have that shutoff valve. (even though there is a shutoff available outside which everyone should have). It was about safety and convenience which I get. So as soon as they left (my new range now in my garage) I called Bill at Metro Heating & Cooling. Right after the call I texted him thinking that would be quicker than my voice mail. He responded in 5 minutes texting me "I'm on my way." And this was just after 4 in the afternoon! He came over and installed it easily saying that he works on gas appliances all the time. The whole thing was $165. I was so happy with Metro Heating & Cooling. By the way, he is the owner and is a one man band. Also I was able to get free info from him when I asked several questions about earthquake safety and he even checked my gas fireplace and water heater for me for no extra charge. Bill is the best! Call him first before you call any other HVAC companies. Some of them do not have the best technicians as employees. Not naming names here. It's good to know the owner of the company! read more

Bill saved our marriage ! Our central A/C unit was not working on the hottest day of this year so far. We saw this business had good Yelp ratings so I called. He was here within 1 hour, and 3 hours later our house was cool again and my wife was happy again ! (And so was I :-). -- johnS read more

Very happy with our experience! Bill is extremely easy to get ahold of and a great communicator. He explained what the issue was to me thoroughly and it was a fair price for the time he took to fix everything and discuss what was completed and what we should look to get done in the future. We'll definitely be calling him again when we need to put in a new furnace next year! read more

Could not ask for a better experience with HVAC, and he is VERY reasonably priced to boot! Our furnace went out this morning so we called Bill and he was there within 30 minutes. He was knowledgeable and as personable as could be, and had the problem fixed within another 30. I have had experience with 4-5 other HVAC companies in the area over the past few years, and the service offered by Bill is lightyears beyond them-- they just want to make the sale but Bill wants to make sure you are taken care of. I am relieved that I now have my go-to-guy for all things HVAC! read more

Bill is excellent. He helped my mother and I out on what would've surely been a freezing weekend and he did it without some of the very high markups I was getting from other mechanics due to the timing (right after Christmas). He was honest, communicative, and clearly knew his stuff. He'll be my first stop any time I or my family need heating/cooling help and I'll easily recommend him to people I know. Thanks for the great work, Bill! read more

We had a rental unit in NW Portland needing an AC installation and I was very pleased with the responsiveness and professionalism shown by owner Bill Ford. It was clear from his high energy approach that he cared about getting the job done right. I'm a retired engineering manager and like to know the details of what will be done and why. Bill was very accomodating and when some new information came to light concerning the scope and requirements of the job, Bill handled that situation with what i could only call 'professionalism'. He can be counted on to do the job right! read more

Bill did a fantastic job on our old Vermont Castings gas stove, after one company had told me it wasn't worth trying to fix, and another misdiagnosed the issue. Can't recommend him highly enough. Honest, knowledgeable, did the job for a fair price (he even shopped around for the best price on a part), and he stuck with it until the thing was working, which was no easy task. read more

Bill is professional, honest and explains everything he is doing. He is always prompt courteous and his pricing is reasonable. Thank you, Bill for your excellent service, I am a customer for life! read more

I just called at about 7:30 pm because on Yelp they said they were open. I wasn't expecting an appointment just to schedule one. We just got back from being out of town and realized our air wasn't blowing effectively and the house wasn't cooling off. I reached a gentleman and asked if they had any openings over the next 25 hours and his response was annoyed, "did you just realize your air was not working, I mean it's 7:30 at night and I was just in your area." I asked if he could repeat himself as I thought no way this guy is annoyed and sure enough, "did you just realize it's not working, have you been home all day and just calling now, I was in your area 20 minutes ago." Who acts like that. I didn't even ask for somebody to come it right away just asking to see if they had openings. What company chastises people like we are some idiot. read more

We were very impressed with Bill and his work today! He was able to fit us into his schedule on short notice and was prompt, honest, and friendly. He didn't try to push us into buying parts for our A/C unit that we didn't need. He is very knowledgeable and his prices are more than fair. He was easy to work with, and now I can see why he has so many positive reviews. We will definitely be using Bill again! read more

I called Bill at Metro because my furnace started to make a variety of sounds that were alarming. He was able to come to my house within a couple of hours. He diagnosed the problems almost immediately. The circuit board was failing on our 1992 Rheem gas furnace, which was causing the gas valve assembly to also begin to fail. While the furnace still worked ok, he said it was not far from a complete failure which would have required a total replacement. Lucky me! The parts were in stock, he went to get them, and was back very quickly. Parts were replaced and tested, and he also removed and cleaned the ridiculously-difficult-to-reach air filters (I will be more diligent in that respect from now on, knowing my furnace has a long life ahead). He also made some adjustments to the blower which has been set on its lowest setting all these years - maybe the house will heat up a little faster from now on. I appreciate Bill's promptness, his fair pricing, and his vast knowledge. read more
