In search of a fantastic home-style and comfort-food oriented spot that incorporates both classic southern-style recipes and modernized innovative plates? Look no further! Metro Diner in Bradenton, Florida is a tried and true restaurant that my family swears by for an amazing meal made from scratch, specifically speaking about their fried chicken. Not only do they knock the food out of the park, but the customer service is always on point. Our waiter, Carlo, was extremely friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about what was good on the menu. My family and I cannot say enough good things about the food and the service here. read more

Love this place I live one street light away food is always good and fresh but for some reason the last two times I've been have been a disaster I always order Togo first time was missing lots of items was told I had a credit under my husbands name for the next time so now here goes the next time and all of a sudden they don't do credits anymore I still ordered because I'm a loyal customer when I show up to pickup the girl is standing on the food line just waiting for food to come out (there's nothing there) I asked if she could check if my food was ready she said I had To wait and walked off 10mins later someone comes when I get home my food was extremely cold and messy didn't even call didn't wanna be rude to them wasted 30$ and now I don't even wanna go back read more

I gave them 1star because not only is the service awful when I eat in, but every time I order the chicken tenders or fried chicken its burnt. I ordered take out chicken tenders today and I specifically said to make sure it's not burnt. So when I went to pick it up it's even more burnt than usual. I tried to give them more chances than they deserve, so I will not be returning to this Metro location again. When I called to let them know about my burnt tenders I spoke with Courtney not sure if she's the manager but she was very rude to me. I will be letting corporate know about this. read more

Has a local diner feel. The food is good, portions are sizable and the prices are reasonable. It is the "home" of the $2.99 Mimosa and Bloody Mary (maybe next tIme). I do recommend the avocado toast. Next time I will request it with sour dough bread. read more

The food is SO GOOD. Their fried chicken is amazing & the prices are pretty decent. They also have really good prices on their mimosas & bloody marys. When you enter the restaurant it feels like a family atmosphere & the hosts/servers are so welcoming. We've had a few servers & they've all been great. Be prepared to wait if you come at prime-time (weekend breakfast/brunch), but it is worth it. Can't wait to try more! read more

We ate at the Cortez road location and this was one of my favorite meals the entre time in the area. The hot honey chicken sand is money for sure. The kids got waffles and pancakes and they enjoyed those as well. Our service was excellent and seriously would go back there in a heartbeat if back in town. read more

Just found the best little diner in Bradenton! Had the best chicken tenders, Mac n cheese, biggest side salad I've ever seen! Friend has chicken and waffles, awesome!! Come see Ivy, just the nicest, most knowledgeable waitress! Coming back tomorrow for the pot roast and chicken pot pie! Great place, fantastic food and service! read more

I had lunch here a few days ago and ordered the Metro Club. It's a very good triple decker sandwich and consisted of turkey, ham, cheese, bacon, lettuce and tomato. I chose coleslaw as my side. Also, the coffee was very good. read more

Been waiting for something like this to open in town - Finally - you get what you pay for and it's worth every penny here! Plenty of parking, outdoor seating, clean interior, good wait staff, can sit at counter to watch the cook staff, or booth, or table. Beer & Wine too! Stopped in for late breakfast but after looking over menu, decided on 'lunch' items instead. They serve the whole menu all day. Chose the Charleston Shrimp & Grits and The Bold City Burger. The Charleston Shrimp & Grits were awesome. The 2 huge grit cakes and cheesy and good, shrimp is not overcooked, the Andouille sausage just adds an extra yummy flavor, and the roasted red pepper is not overwhelming BUT that gravy or sauce, Oh Lord, is it ever good, creamy, and flavorful. The burger has not only bacon, but sausage too. The fried jalapeños are not overpowering but add flavor, soft bun, very good too. Now they seem to have some strange hours but when they are closed a little while in the afternoon, it's when we wouldn't really be eating anyway, so that will most likely not be a problem for anyone. We will go back often!! Just can't say enough good things about this 1st experience at Metro Diner. read more

After leaving a five star review, I was disappointed in the meal tonight . Service, as always, great.....but pot roast was SO SALTY I couldn't even cut it with sour cream. Two men I'm my party stated they were hungry before they were home........and they had completely finished their dinner .......that doesn't happen often! Sorry, so wanted to love it again!!!!!!! read more

Ordered takeout due to Covid. We ordered the cheeseburger with mashed potatoes and gravy and a chicken tenders salad to split between my husband and I. The order was placed online and was ready when we arrived. The website said they offer drive up service, but if so it was not clearly marked as we didn't see it so I went in to pick it up. The food was good and still warm once we arrived home. I would like to try breakfast next. read more

O.K. I was hungry. And it was close. The menu looked good and I figured I was try it out. I am glad I did. The food was excellent. It smelled good walking in and I certainly was full when I left. The food was cooked and presented well. It just tasted like quality. But there was something that made it stand out like most don't. The service was exceptional. The attention to detail, timing, just being attentive to what I need was subtly executed to perfection. Its funny cause I do not even realize it until I left when I was thinking why was that so good. That is what I call professional. The server actually genuinely wanted me to have a good experience. What I got was an amazing one. Bottom line, thank you Metro and Peyton! Very well done! read more

A couple of weeks ago we had dinner at Metro Diner and it was delicious. My friend had the meatloaf and I had the chicken fried steak dinner. It was hand breaded and deep fried to perfection. Nice to see the cooks actually making food from scratch. It was so good that I went back last weekend for more and it was a special and not being made any longer. Overall Metro does a pretty good job. read more

Down home comfort food I dont give many 4 stars but this place is great. The only bad point was it was so busy that service was a bit lacking. We always judge a place by whether you have to ask for a refill. Well we waited a long time for refills. If the servers dont have time the management should be roaming around seeing how guests are doing and how they liked the food, along with a drink refill. Like I said the place was busy. The food was so good though. Havent found momtecristos like this since bennigans. read more

The first time we came was for breakfast and we were really pleased with quality, portion, and service. We just went for lunch and ordered the hot honey sandwich with fries and club sandwich with Cole slaw. Disappointed with Cole slaw(bland) and club sandwich (not toasted white bread really?!?!). Maybe I'm used to always having toasted bread with a club sandwich. We would have complained but time constraints rushed us. Make sure you ask for toasted bread if you order a club sandwich! Skip the Cole slaw and have fried. The fries were good. The hot honey chicken sandwich was decent. Probably will try elsewhere next time in Bradenton. read more

Covid/sanitization rating 3.5/5 The good: sanitizing menus, staff wearing masks (properly), repackaged syrup/sauce for single uses, deep/thorough cleaning of tables & chairs after each use, sanitize station at front (but it's just a tiny handheld bottle) The bad: reusable menus, no sections blocked off - using full capacity, tables all next to each other without spacing out, Safe to eat outside, not safe to eat inside. Outside seating only has a handful of tables so good luck. Come early or you'll probably not be able to sit outside. Food - good 4/5 Service - great 5/5 Price - a little pricey 4/5 Sanitization - 3/5 Overall 4/5 read more

Good food! Portions are large. Overall, a place I go for breakfast every time I'm in the area!

Stopped in for Easter breakfast. Plenty of friendly employees. Food was excellent and music played was awesome. It definitely worth a try if you are near. read more

I'm giving it a two because the server was nice, and somewhat efficient. But the food? This place should be ashamed to call itself a "diner". The "huevos rancheros" came out as pseudo-nachos; no refried beans, chips that tasted like cardboard (not even salty cardboard at that), about 12 pieces of canned black beans, a desultory helping of cheese (so little you couldn't even taste it, maybe a teaspoon), and chopped up sausage in squares. The eggs were cold, though cooked the way we'd asked. The grilled cheese sandwich with tomatoes was a tiny bit better, cheap white bread (okay, I liked it when I was a kid) dripping in some kind of fat (not real butter IMHO), with enough cheese but one slice of tomato for the entire sandwich. And there was an up charge for "grilled cheese and tomato" as opposed to just "grilled cheese"!!! The waitress did bring me another slice of tomato when I asked, which I guess is something. read more

Solid diner food. We always enjoy it. It's a bit noisy with kids, etc. but enjoyable atmosphere and very friendly service.

Ok where to start. The food was not on fav list I for sure don't really plan on going back. My meal was dry and over cooked and really how do you go wrong with like chicken tenders. Granted portions were big and huge but yeaaa over cooked for sure. And another member of my party food was way to salty. She got the turkey meal. With stuffing and mashed potatoes. She didn't eat a lot of it. But our server was nice and personable he wasn't to bad he was on top of things for sure But no I shall not be going back read more

I ordered the meatloaf dinner. the meatloaf was ok, but the potatoes were too thin, the green beans were mush and everything was cold. I should mention it was takeout but we were close. probably will go somewhere else next time we're in town. read more

I have eaten at metro many many times. I've never had a bad meal there. Always consistently good at the very least. Most times it's a couple notches above that. Couple items I enjoy eating there: The strawberry butter they have with waffles, pancakes, toast or anything really is amazing! A must try. The iron city meatloaf is another must try. Pan seared style meatloaf with a really tasty gravy. Not your typical meat loaf! If you like fried chicken, they have an excellent fried chicken plate that comes with the waffles. Everything I've tried is always really tasty! Staff at the Cortez Rd location can be a little stiff, except for the dude that sings all the time. He's cool read more

My new fav metro diner location!! Great service and all of the food was delicious! They had a hot chocolate float special so good. If it is still there get it! So yummy. I also think there corn beef hash is the best hands down! Love that I can enjoy a glass of wine with my meal also. Very affordable. read more

We came here with my parents on a weekday evening. It wasn't too busy, and we were seated immediately. My wife has celiacs disease and a few other major food allergies. We figured this place would be ok because she had eaten a carry-out burger a few days prior with no issues. We asked our server and were given a gluten-free menu. Our server, Christina admitted that she wasn't familiar enough with the menu to navigate all the allergies so she brought over the manager. She was so helpful, talking through all the options and making special arrangements with the chef to prepare the food safely for my wife. My wife had a salad with grilled shrimp that was very good. I wish I could remember the manager's name to give her recognition because she gave us such great attention and help. Everyone's food was good. I had the chicken parm and was very pleased- well seasoned, crispy breading, good marinara. read more

I appreciate the manager response but why would I want to call & say same thing I wrote? Why wouldn't you say, I'd like to call you instead of making me report to the principal's office. Maybe, the best response would have been, come back for a meal & ask for me. I'll prob never go back, but, that would have made me think of your restaurant. I've been offered freebies & have rejected all because bad review = not eating there again. In this electronic age, all managers should think of asking for email address & sending sorry free app or drink or entree certificate. I don't want to converse about something I've already stated. read more

I will admit that I do not know every law in the state of Florida. But I thought it was pretty customary to allow service animals into eating establishments with certain caveats. But to be denied service completely, in my opinion, is just plain wrong. The service staff just did not seem to have an answer at all regarding service animals with all the proper documentation available. So I guess it was easier just to turn away potential customers. Good strategy folks. It's a shame, it looked like a pretty nice place. I will not be frequenting this location, that's for sure. read more

This saddens me to say that Metro Diner has gone way down hill. We are pensioners (as are 90% of the customers that were in there today). We can't afford to go out for a meal due to the economy but Metro was always a special treat. To start off the 'special menu" included Chicken Fried Steak. I was excited to try it but after waiting 15 minutes between sightings of our waitress we were told 'they don't have any chicken fried steak'. So deciding on something else 15 minutes later the waitress showed up again. I ordered the Philly Cheese Steak sandwich my husband ordered the Orange Chicken Bowl. Now, granted, it was busy when we first arrived but they made the mistake of seating us right next to the kitchen. My sandwich was in the 'window" for a good 15 minutes and someone pulled it back behind the counter then put it back up with my husband's meal. The plate was hot so I am assuming it was microwaved because the meat was cremated. We also had a floor show when one employee was yelling across the counter at a kitchen staff member which appeared could become a physical altercation. No one asked how our meal was, as in the past. The floors were covered with food and liquid as were most of the tables. When we left there were at least 5 employees in the back room talking as opposed to clearing tables. We witnessed multiple guests waiting lengthy times for their food or wait staff. I need to have Faith that this is not the sign of the times. The locals they depend on will be going elsewhere. Again, so sad to say because it has never been like this before. read more

I will give Metro Diner a 5-star rating as always. However up until the last visit everything is always been spot-on. We asked for the fries to be extra crispy and they weren't even crispy; disappointed however the burgers were perfect and awesome. We have never had anything but fabulous food from all locations of Metro Diner. If you have not went, we strongly suggest that you go ASAP. While the Monte cristo may not be healthy, they are yummy AND a must-try!! Enjoy! read more

Food was fresh and plentiful, almost too much so. Service (Payton) was excellent and the the decor was trendy. All in all a nice place.

I used to love eating at Metro Diner, but recently, I have been very disappointed with the food. The service is still wonderful but the food has really gone downhill. We used to go there every Friday night for fish and chip night. My husband and I LOVED the fish, French fries and coleslaw. The last couple of times that we have been there, the fish tastes super gamey and doesn't taste at all the same. The fries are still good but the coleslaw leaves a lot to be desired! We will be looking for another restaurant for our Friday night dates. read more

Been here several times for breakfast and dinner. Great food and great service-thanks Tobias!

Don't ask for well done hash browns. They will replace them with the same barely cooked ones after you finish your breakfast and two cups of coffee. There is absolutely no control/communication with the kitchen. The waitress nor manager can do anything about it. First time last time. read more
