The phone service is okay, but their customer service is horrible. I called in to try to switch phones, and got hoodwinked. I purchased another phone, with the intention of it being my sole phone. The gal from a foreign country on the line put the new phone in as a 'second line', trying to boost her sales. Why do I need two phone lines when it's just me? I went through all sort of changes just to get rid of the second line, and to switch service to the new phone! Fast forward about 1.2 years later. My phone needs changed because I need reliable internet service. I just cancelled AT&T for frequent rate hikes. Metro by T-Mobile does have a stand alone internet device, but like most internet service providers, they won't provide service in my apartment complex for their 5g internet device, because they can't 'be the sole provider' within the apartment complex I live in. Metro store employees think we're stupid by stating that they can't provide 5g internet to certain addresses, even though my Metro by T-Mobile cell phone gets 5G, and 5G UC within my apartment! So I call Metro to get a PIN to port over the phone number to the new service provider I've chosen. The first gal I spoke to, Jasmine, ran me around the bush, trying to keep me from switching service, for over 24 minutes. Then Jasmine states that she's going to transfer me to a supervisor, to get a 'port out PIN'. I hear the phone ringing for over 6 minutes, and I finally hand up. I call back immediately, and speak to Amber, who tries to pull the same 'run around' scheme, but I explain in detail why I need leave Metro by T-Mobile. Amber allegedly sends a 'port out PIN' via text message. I repeat the PIN number to her, and ask her 3 times if this is the correct number, because I saw a previous PIN in the message before. Amber clearly stated that this was the correct port out PIN. I thanked Amber for her help, and hung up. I entered the PIN Amber stated was the number. The next day, I log into the new service provider ap, and a message stating the port out PIN was incorrect. I called Metro again, explained the situation, and then asked if Nova (a female) could resolve the issue, or if I needed to file an FCC complaint. Nova tried the run around game, but I quickly cut that off. Nova then transferred me to the "port out department", where I spoke to Chas, another female with a thick accent. After explaining the situation, Chas tried to get me to do it myself on my phone. After she ran into a problem, she put me on hold. While on hold, I logged into the new service provider, and tried the port out PIN that Amber said was not the PIN on the previous day. Shazam! It worked. When Chas came back on the line, I finally told her, I'm done playing games. If this process didn't go through smoothly, I will not contact them again, instead, I would immediately file an FCC complaint. This is the sort of work I did in the Army, with computer networks, and tactical satellite radios, but Metro customer service people talk to their customers like they're blooming idiots! The service is okay, but the customer service leaves much to be desired! read more
