My friends and i called Metro 37 and asked to record one song. I told the guy what our budget was and he scheduled 6-hour blocks of studio time for two days in a row including an engineer. The engineer cat was laid back and easy to talk to. The main recording room was pretty messy but had a great vibe. He let us move, remove, and use the studio's equipment in any way we wanted. He asked if we would entertain his thoughts about the song and was helpful and professional. There are fast food places near by but i brought food for all so we wouldn't have to stop for anything. The engineer never left his post so we fed him too. The studio is hi-tech in every way, but at the same time it's shabby chic like a man-cave or a bachelors pad. I arrived at the studio almost an hour early and it was open already. We did the first 6-hours and went over time without additional cost. The second day, we got carried away and went over time by 2 hours, so we paid him for those extra 2 hours. Our band visited several studios and looked over many reviews before selecting Metro 37. After completing our 7-song EP, we were very happy with our choice. The facilities and equipment are excellent, with a mixture old-school and modern technological capabilities. Keven Sharpe worked very hard, was honest and helpful, and did not nickel-and-dime the band for "extra" services. We paid a fair rate for the time we booked, and got full value for every minute. Kevin took time to understand the sound we were looking for, and worked with each musician to help achieve it. He delivered exactly what we were looking for, and actually got even more out of us than we knew we could do. This place sucks. The guy who owns it is a shallow piece of shit who just wants to get as many bands in and out of the door without really giving a fuck about the quality of the recording. The gear is half way decent, but that doesn't really matter if the "producer" does not give a shit about the quality of the output. Don't waste you or your band's time or money. Just get a bunch of gear and figure out how to record yourself. Don't let the owner fool you with the bullshit title of "Emmy Award Winning Producer." This is not the real Emmy Awards. It is the Detroit Emmy Awards. That's a fucking joke. read more

After a no-show from an expected artist, they stuck around and helped me record some original music with a friend and helped me to have a productive day with a couple of nice recordings to go with it. I would recommend them anytime to anyone. The price and results were great. I will return there again shortly to do a full CD. read more
