I've taken some time before writing this review to reflect on my experience and be as fair as possible. A few weeks ago, I reached out to Metric Motors for a quote on replacing the CV axle on my Volvo. The dealership had quoted me $2,800, and a second shop quoted $1,100. MM gave me an estimate of approximately $900. I fully understand that without seeing the vehicle, final costs can change, but that wasn't the issue here. MM told me they couldn't get my car in until the following Friday, which was later than the other shops, but to save a few hundred dollars, my wife and I rearranged our schedules and carpooled that week. We had a trip planned for the weekend, so the timing mattered. We dropped the car off right when MM opened. Later that morning, we received a call raising concerns about a possible severe oil leak. That alarmed us, especially since we had just had an oil change the week prior. We were also told that the technician didn't see any grease indicating a CV axle issue. I expected a follow-up call with more detail. When the representative called back, I asked about the oil situation. He said the leak didn't appear to be significant after all, but if I wanted to get a more complete diagnosis, I'd need to bring the car back another time. That was frustrating, especially since it contradicted the earlier statement that it might be a serious issue, and it implied another visit and additional cost. During that same call, I was told they hadn't yet driven the car. Once they finally did, the technician confirmed the car was shaking, just as I had originally described. That's when I was informed the cost of the CV axle repair would now be $1,600. I asked why the price had nearly doubled, and the representative told me the original quote had assumed aftermarket parts, while this new quote was for original parts. This wasn't disclosed at the beginning, and I wasn't given options to choose between OEM and aftermarket parts, as other shops have done. It felt misleading. When I voiced my concern, I was met with indifference and told I could just come pick up the car if I didn't like the price, no apology or acknowledgment of their communication breakdown. We needed the car that weekend, so I reluctantly agreed to move forward. When we picked up the car, my wife asked about the price increase. The same gentleman told her she "should've talked to [her] husband before coming in," which was not only dismissive but highly disrespectful. I was shocked by the condescending tone, and it only reinforced my frustration. Years ago, I had positive experiences with Metric Motors. At that time, their professionalism and work quality were excellent. However, it's been about five years since I last visited, and based on this encounter, it's clear things have changed, perhaps due to new ownership or management, as I've seen mentioned in other reviews. I wish I could write a good review, but there is not much good I can say about metric motors. I recommend calling around before taking your vehicle here because these guys are extremely high priced. Kirby Automotive has great customer service and reasonably priced. I paid Metric Motors $500 for diagnostics regarding a starting issue and to find where an oil leak was coming from. They said the starter needed to be replaced, but I didn't have them do the work because they are so expensive. When I did get a new starter in my car it did not fix the issue. I don't think they even put any time into finding out if the starter was the real issue because sometimes the starter would have 7v going to it (wouldn't start), and sometimes it would have 12v (would start). They would have known that it wasn't the starter if they had just looked into the issue instead of guessing. Now to their credit they did find where the oil was leaking, but I'm not sure I can trust that either. They definitely look like they are professional and know what they are doing, but I really don't think they do. I was even missing a hose clamp when I got my car back from them. Long story short they took $500 from me and it did not help fix my car at all. In fact I got my car back in worse condition than I left it, as the hose clamp was missing. read more

This place came highly recommended from a friend of a friend and couldn't be happier that I checked it out! I was told by another shop that my car just had a long list of things that just had to be done for the winter. I took it in here and gave Brian the list and said it was total bs! The one thing that he did recommend getting done wasn't even on the list! They specialized in German cars and he knew what he was doing! I have a Volvo and was nervous about trying a new shop to service my vehicle that's a foreign car. But They were so incredibly nice and they worked fast on my car, not to mention kept me updated. It was extremely convenient that they can take payment over the phone as well as in person. They worked with me in terms of finance as best as they could. Took my Toyota to Metric Motors for repair. I requested new rear brakes, and had a passenger door issue where the power lock wasn't working. I also requested the vehicle be looked over, as I have some upcoming trips. I dropped it off in the evening after hours, and dropped my keys in the overnight box. By 9:00am the next morning, they called me and reviewed my repairs. They found a couple of more issues, and I approved repairs. Car was ready by 4:00 pm the same day. Tia was very helpful. This Shop is run by CROOKS! First, they quoted me a price for installing a Oil Pump on my Mercedes Benz, that I thought was on the high side. But because Metric was referred to me by a friend, I agreed. But after sleeping on it , I contacted the Mercedes Benz dealership, and they quoted me a price that was $700.00 cheaper! I informed Metric, and they claimed that Mercedes was deliberately undercutting their price. Not True. I went back to Metric and picked up my Vehicle and took it to the Mercedes Dealership. Mercedes ran a diagnostic and much to my Shock! I didn't even need an Oil Pump. These CROOKS at Metric intensionally was going to Charge me over $3.000.00 for a Pump that I didn't need! My advice to any and all future customers. Please get a second diagnosis and price quote, before you allow these CROOKS to work on your vehicle. Unfortunately they are riding on the reputation of the previous Owner! And sadly, they have placed Profit over Integrity. Mercedes gave me a loaner vehicle. Ran a complete diagnostic, washed my vehicle, and did not charge me ANYTHING!!! Avoid This Business, unless you want to be Scammed!!! read more

I'm not a car guy and often wonder if what I'm told needs fixing is totally accurate or offered at a fair price. I never feel that way at Metric Motors. I've been in 4 or 5 times and have always been treated fairly and with respect. Their technicians are helpful and prompt. I always leave with a vehicle that runs better and a feeling that I was charged a fair price for only what needed to be done. I do not feel that way at the dealership (where Metric sent me once after looking at my car for a few hours for free, apologetically letting me know it was a computer issue had to be done at the dealership) or at other mechanics I've been to previously. If you you need vehicle service done in Edmond or north OKC, there's nowhere else you need to look. In addition to this -- which warrants five stars in itself -- their waiting room is large and comfortable, and they provide donuts and free freshly-ground coffee. Fantastic. read more

Normally I would say they are a great place to get your car worked on. Quick. Done right. Got my AC condenser worked on recently and it was fixed for $425 which was fine. But later that afternoon got a call that my cooling fan was broken too. I didn't understand this because it wasn't overheating before we took it. I usually give ppl the benefit of the doubt. But i was further frustrated when I got into my car and my shifter knob was broken off (they didn't inform me of that or offer to pay), again I shrugged it off. I guess you could call me a push over. Later when I got home, my shifter knob essentially locked up and would not shift out of park! Had my husband and father work on it, so now it shifts but we will need a new shifter asap. Also found a keep sake rear view mirror charm broken off and again no apology or even acknowledgment of it. read more

10 days in advance I set up an appointment for service on my car. I emphasized I would be waiting and was flexible on time and date. I went in this morning to honor my appointment. Mark was surprised I would be waiting as it was not set up as such in their system. I was told it would be at least four hours. I asked Mark why I was not told that when setting up my appointment. There was no answer and no concern. I decided to proceed even though this would really mess with my schedule. 20 minutes after my appointment time my car was still not in a service bay. I decided to cut my losses and go to a service center that understands the concept of appointments and cares about their customers. read more

I took my BMW 535i for check engine light, because they used to service the car for ex owner. after inspection, i was told it needs $400+ because a gas tank pressure sensor is not working, I was not convinced so I asked them for the inspection receipt, I paid $100+ for that, afterwards I noticed oil spill, it was the oil cooler line, they charged me $100+ for inspection, and they didn't notice oil leak from the front point of the engine!!, but they were able to figure out a sensor in the gas tank. Anyway thank god I didn't pay $400+ for the sensor. read more

I took my 2007 Sierra to verify that the $900 worth of services that Bob Howard GMC recommended were real (surprise, they weren't). I spent 70% less than at the dealership and my truck was ready when promised (a foreign concept to the previously mentioned shop). I took my '05 Jag in for service, a rat chewed an A/C wire and the car was also revving irregularly. I had an appointment for Monday AM but it took until Thursday afternoon to get the car back. The chewed wired took an hour of labor to repair and the irregular revving they said was bad spark plugs which also were changed on Thursday. Why have an appointment and be without my car for three days then? The A/C worked fine upon pick up of the car but the irregular revving and lurching it caused was still there but I was charged over $1,000 for the "repair". My fault for trusting them and driving off before inspecting the work. I called for the owner the next morning but he was out and again a few days later and was told he would call me back....he never did. I travel for work and could not take the car back immediately in person but had to spend another $2,000 to have the torque converter replaced at a shop out of town. Had Metric Motors driven my car to diagnose the issue they would have realized the real problem but clearly they did not, either before working on the car or after to test their work. I'm hoping the bad service I received is not the norm for Metric Motors, however, with repairs for a car I cannot work on myself being so expensive I cannot afford to trust a mechanic that does not do the job right the first time or even call a customer back who has a concern. Decided to take my car here based on the glowing reviews found online and their purported specialty in imports. The communication on their part was truly atrocious - they never once called me back when they said they were going to, they didn't indicate that a significant amount of additional work might potentially be required after the first job (replacement of a broken timing belt), and they did not stop work upon discovery of this additional required work. Any mechanic familiar with interference engines would have been aware that a broken timing belt had a high potential for damaging the engine, but they never even mentioned the possibility. I was forced to pay much more than the car was even worth in the end, as they daisy-chained these repairs together to where I could either pay a large amount and receive a non-functioning car, or pay an exorbitant amount and finally receive what I originally agreed to. Incredible. If you value both your wallet and your vehicle, you will not bring it to Metric Motors. read more
