They seem to base your care decisions off of that even when your symptoms and blood work and everything else shows that that note was put in by a nurse you called out for being incompetent. I've had nurses tell me what's wrong with me without even running tests. Then they say my symptoms are because of something that they are basically making up. The way some of them act when they see your vitals and blood work showing signs of something serious. I've had to ask to patient advocates almost every time. Just on one person. It's not all of them, it's one that is not very happy with their job and they don't want to be there. I was recently told I wouldn't get what I wanted and I was laughed at by an ER charge nurse named "Chase". Who called security on me. This experience has traumatized me. I was literally treated like I did something so wrong. I was actually transported to another hospital and they ended up treating me properly and stabilized me. Methodist metropolitan is gross. Also per state law health regulations. A licensed hospital should not deny a patient advocate, release a patient without stabilizing them. 26 TAC 505.42 I have reported to the ER manager, who was very rude and lied to me. I was able to access the patient portal that showed exactly what was she said was actually a note from a prior visit. Very many years ago. She hung up on me and I was told to contact the director, I sent emails and was never able to receive any response from her. I spoke to someone who just said she would look into it and send me a letter. This was back in April and I'm still dealing with it because they are not releasing the evidence. The court has me going every month. Just to be told they haven't received all the evidence that was requested.

Upon arrival, I waited in the lobby for more than two hours before being triaged. During that time, I vomited blood four times. I informed registration staff each time my symptoms worsened. While they acknowledged me, no one alerted a nurse or physician. The only communication I received during this extended wait occurred when I personally approached the registration desk. Nurses and clinical staff did not proactively provide updates, check on my condition, or offer reassurance. No one communicated directly with me about delays, next steps, or the severity of my symptoms until one nurse later addressed me in a dismissive manner that felt as though my concerns were being minimized rather than evaluated. While waiting, another patient loudly discussed on speaker phone that doctors believed he might have pneumonia or COVID. He was not asked to wear a mask or take any precautions. He also played a video with explicit sexual content and profanity in the waiting room. The environment felt chaotic and unsafe. Because the waiting room was full and I was feeling increasingly anxious and physically ill, I briefly stepped outside the sliding glass doors for space. A nurse who had performed my EKG and lab work told me I was not permitted to sit there, despite the lack of available seating inside. She indicated she would draw additional blood in the waiting area, which did not seem appropriate given the proximity to other patients. When I requested that my IV be removed, I was taken into a side room. The nurse appeared distracted, singing aloud while working. She then reprimanded me for placing an item in the wrong trash container and announced to the triage nurse that I was leaving. Several patients later told me they could clearly hear staff discussing me as I exited, including a comment from a nurse stating she "hated patients like me." As I left the facility, I vomited blood again outside the ER entrance. No staff member checked on my condition. My experience was marked by prolonged delays during a potentially serious medical situation, lack of communication, limited infection control measures, and unprofessional conduct. I sought emergency care hoping to feel safe, heard, and appropriately treated. Unfortunately, that was not my experience.

The first surgery was outstanding. My Orthopeadic Surgean, Dr. Rinehart which is the best of the best, did an outstanding work on both knees, three months ago and now. I'm doing great. I'm really impressed with the nurses at pre op, they just amazing professionals with a lit of respect treating patient, give you confidence and piece in mind that you.ars in best hands. After surgery my nurse in was so kind, make me feel safe, taken care of, it was just amazing. She on top of my pain and manage it just outstanding nurse. The on the floor for inpatient ward, they we great. RN Grecia and tech Ryann just took care of me way passed my expectations. She was obviously with her hands full and still she treated me like i was the only patient in the floor and I felt like that under her care. She is just an outstanding asset for this institution. The are not many nurses like her. Is easy to get those kind of dedicated individuals that always produce 100%. She is something else. It was my privilege to be under her care for sure. I was lucky or either was great! At evening came another nurse. I was happy because of the previous staff. For my surprise I was bless again become a patient under the care of RN Kelvin, he was the RN on my previous knee surgery. So i knew i was going to get the very best care for sure. On my previous surgery, afte r the procedure he was very dedicated, professional, courteous and constantly checking on me on pain levels, dressing and my conform. He just run the extra mile and some for me. An outstanding RN. At dismissal Rn Kelvin really shows of what he was make off. Cna Ricky was Great facilitating thing and very courteous and an asset, great assets for this institution. Communication problems between the coordinator here and the VA coordinator hold the process on my dismissal. It tool couple of hours to figure it out but Rn Kelvin was in top of the problem calling people, moving around even having other patients to take care. He is something else. Great personality, obviously very dedicated with his job and his patients, have a natural compassion for his patient. The first and this was the continuation of the first with the same staff. Rn Grecia Mendoza, Rn Kelvin and Cna Ricky, and Mariah were my lucky charm. This medical professionals deserve all the Credit for my wonderful time at the Baptist Orthopaedics Hospital. Their skills, manners, courteous, special attention to detail make a difference that had no price. It has been my privilege to be under their care without comparison.May this institution realized and recognized the type and value the benefit they are offering to this institution and every patient that have the privilege to under their care..thanks very very much....Mr H Martinez

The OB clinic is okay, but there are several providers and you don't always see the same doctor/ midwife. There were times some employees were a little condescending, but overall I had a good experience during pregnancy. They scheduled an induction and gave me a different date than they gave the hospital so I got a call that I "no showed" until I told them my midwife told me Tuesday, not Monday. The doctor that told me he would be delivering for me wasn't even there and a midwife I had never met ended up delivering. My son was in the NICU - the staff were kind and helpful. My nurses on the post-partum floor were incredible and very attentive. The OB clinic had some issues with my post-partum care and I had to call several times to get what I needed. First they lost the paperwork so I completed it again then they forgot to send the paperwork. What should have taken a week or two took over two months. The ER is quick and has saved my son's life more than once. Our last visit was on Sunday when he began having seizures and staff was quick to get him into the trauma bay and stabilized. I did have to finally yell out "who do I need to talk to about (medicine)?" because I was telling them what he needed per another doctor, but nobody seemed to be listening. I get they were in crisis mode trying to save his life, but the meds I was referring to were life saving in addition to the other meds they were giving. Finally someone took charge and told me to tell her the started directing others on what to do. Things were smooth after that. Overall we love this Christus location and wouldn't go anywhere else for emergent care.

My dad passed away in the ICU here on September 16, 2026, and I left carrying not only the grief of losing him, but also confusion, anger, heartbreak, and so many unanswered questions about how his final days were handled. I spent three straight days at this hospital sitting by my dad's side, trying to understand what was happening and prepare myself for something no daughter is ever truly prepared for. What made an already unbearable situation even harder was receiving conflicting information from doctors and nurses. At one point, a nurse gave me information that made me believe there was still hope my dad could make it. Later, a doctor told me that information was incorrect and that I had been misinformed. I cannot explain what it feels like to be given hope about your father's life, only to have it taken away because members of the medical team were not on the same page. When someone's life is involved, families deserve clear, accurate, and consistent communication. Even after we made the heartbreaking decision to focus on keeping my dad comfortable, we continued receiving different information about his medications, what they were supposed to do, and what to expect during the dying process. At a time when my family needed guidance, reassurance, and compassion, we were often left confused and having to repeatedly ask what was happening next. The most painful part of my experience involved the nurse caring for my father during his final hours, Julie. I did not feel that she showed the level of compassion, communication, or understanding that a family needs while watching someone they love die. Things were being done without explanation, and we constantly had to ask questions just to understand what was happening. For approximately the last two hours of my dad's life, he appeared to be struggling and gasping for air. Watching that was traumatizing. I was terrified that he was suffering. I asked Julie if anything else could be done to make him more comfortable or ease what we were witnessing. I was told, "I maxed him out. I can't give him any more morphine, so there's nothing I can do." As a daughter watching her father take his final breaths, those words were devastating. The next morning, after explaining what happened to another nurse, I was told there may have been other things that could have been done to help keep him comfortable. Hearing that after my dad was already gone broke my heart all over again. I will always wonder whether his final moments could have been more peaceful. There were also interactions with other staff members that felt insensitive and unprofessional. I understand that hospital staff see sickness, tragedy, and death every day, but families do not. This was not just another patient in another room. This was my dad. Someone's father, son, brother, uncle, and grandfather. These are moments families carry with them forever. If you choose to work with critically ill or dying patients, compassion and empathy should never become optional. I walked into this hospital trusting that the people caring for my father would guide us through the worst days of our lives with honesty, dignity, and compassion. Instead, I walked away grieving my father while also questioning the communication and care we received. I now have an incredibly painful association with this hospital and would not recommend it to someone I love. A part of me will always wonder whether our experience, and especially my dad's final moments, could have been different somewhere else. And Julie, I truly hope that if you ever find yourself standing beside someone you love as they take their final breaths, you are met with more compassion, patience, and tenderness than I felt my family received. My dad deserved dignity. My family deserved clear answers. And during one of the hardest moments of our lives, we deserved compassion.

My significant other was transferred here for gallbladder surgery, and from the moment we arrived, the stay was filled with safety concerns, poor communication, and lack of compassion. We found another patient's urine sample left in his care area, used medical supplies near the bed, and immediately questioned whether the room had even been cleaned. The worst part came after surgery when he was left alone in severe 10/10 pain for about 40 minutes despite calling for help multiple times. No nurse came until I physically went looking for her and demanded help. (Jamila) 3rd Floor Discharge was just as bad. The nurse openly admitted she had not even read his discharge orders, gave no verbal instructions about medications or home care, and rushed him out only hours after surgery. He ended up having to walk downstairs because they used the wheelchair for our belongings. I did everything I needed to do at the house so that I could follow them to the hospital. Upon arriving at the hospital, parking is bad, at best. Then trying to navigate in the hospital requires a tour guide, breadcrumbs, and a compass. They let me in the emergency room and told me what little room she was in. These are rooms off the main emergency room, and they are small, and not made for visitors. One thing I noticed getting into the area was all the patients in beds lining the hallway. After doing all their testing on my wife, the doctor advised that she had not had a stroke. The reason she passed out was due to a tumor pressing on a vein. He wanted to do surgery the next morning. My wife never got a room that night, and I found out what it was like to sleep in a 5th grade plastic lunch chair to sleep in/on. They rolled us to surgery first thing the next morning, and we were visited by multiple doctors and nurses. Finally, the surgeon arrived to talk with us. He had a list of questions he went over with my wife. One of them had to do about whether or not she had taken any kind of medications in the last week. When he found that she had taken Advil within the last 7 days, he said we can't do the surgery because of complications from taking it. He said we would have to reschedule. That turned out to be a godsend. Will I return? As the doctors and nurses we saw appeared to be very capable, I was not impressed with the hospital itself. They are very busy and crowed with not enough rooms for the people they are treating. I don't know if that overcrowding was just that day, or if it is the usual way of doing business. Maybe San Antonio doesn't have enough hospitals. I would go to this hospital, but I prefer to go where we ended up at Methodist Stone Oak.
