Came to get a scan done but wasn't quite sure where to go? My text reminders, emails, Dr's office's correspondence & even the Medical Assistant from the 5th floor I had first gone to didn't know where to direct me. She said go down to Admissions to ask them?? I proceeded to the 1st floor & was directed just a few feet away where I checked in. I had a QR code that was texted to me which the MA scanned. I used a hand-held E-Pad to answer some questions, sign consent forms & within 5 min. completed the forms & even paid on the E-pad. Shortly thereafter, another MA verified my info & gave me a hospital wristband which had my name & info. Within probably another minute, a technician named Nicole took me in the scanning lobby area, had me verify & sign more consent forms & took me in. The whole scanning procedure took maybe 6 minutes & I was pleasantly surprised & very comfortable! The machine they used was only 2 years old & was faster. I didn't even have to remove my clothes nor shoes!! High tech & so efficient these days!

I got hospitalized August 15 to the 20. It was the worse experience ever. It made me never wanna come back to this hospital. As soon I got there they took me straight back since I was in the worse pain of my life. They put you in an ER room where everyone is in chairs and you wait and they gave me medicine. I kept telling them it wasn't working. Meanwhile all that I did x rays and ultrasounds then they put me in a hallway for 6 HOURS! Not once did they ask if I need water or medicine or even introduced themselves. I had no idea who my nurse was. I started to freak out because my fingers were turning pale. They finally put in a "room" with five other people and you share a bathroom. The other patient next to me told me she was in the hallway for four days!!!! That night I got a nurse who kept complaining about her job and saying she can't wait to change profession etc. not what I wanted to hear when I felt so sick. The next morning I met the most AMAZING nurse her name was Krystal she has long brown hair. She works in the 4th floor but that day she came to help in the ER. Then the following day I got moved to another "room" it was the smaller thing ever. The nurses were ok. Then Krystal happened to help in that floor again and I felt safe with her. Finally day 3 I finally got a room. Guess where? The 4th floor. Where Krystal worked. Unfortunately I didn't see have her right away but the other nurses were ok. My first night in that floor not once did the nurse come. I even told her I know I am probably not sick as other people but just a simple question ask if I am ok would be nice. Then I had another nurse who kept yelling at me to go throw up in the bathroom and not in my bed. It wasn't until my last night where I got Krystal again that I finally rested and got taken care of. Another shoutout I got sick with my kidneys and just wanted give up praise to Amanda day who's the kidney specialist she's AMAZING been seeing her on the outside and all I can say is this hospital is blessed to have her. Overall horrible experience don't come here if you're sick or have a love one sick. If you do come I hope you get Krystal was your nurse. She's only one who cares and loves her job and explains everything and even comforts you when u cry. I hope she gets recognition she deserves it! Also side note when you leave the hospital they always call to check on you. I didn't answer but called back the number they mention because I had a question 1 month later and they still haven't called.

My 91 yr old mother came to emergency room 12/8 with UTI and fluid retention.WBC's in urinalysis. She has AML her WBC was elevated. None of the physicians ordered a culture until we were suppose to leave on 12/19.', 11 days later. She has had fluid drained from her lungs. Weight dropped to 115 down 8lbs. Increased diuretics and changed heart meds seems to be working much better. They did not release her because "waiting for cultures"???? She had at least 6 iv setups. Her arms started swelling had to rule out sepsis vs clot. Ultrasound found clot. They would not release her we were told waiting for cultures. They poured urine from a hat collection system and was not given anything to clean with. Mom said urine stayed in bathroom 3-4 hrs. I have pictures of what I saw in bathroom that morning. They drew blood cultures Why they didn't do PCR ?? THEY NEVER ORDERED A DIFFERENTIAL ON HER CBC SAID HER WBC 46000 WAS GOING UP had they done a diff they would have seen it was her leukemia. Not sepsis. Well here again waiting to go home.Sat Dec 20. At 4:00 Going thru discharge meds. The NEW HEART MEDICINE not on list. Now they can't find the in house Dr Vargas Who signed discharge. No one knows ??? What happens to people that don't pay attention and have family members visiting Here at Stone Oak Methodist. Still here 12/20 05:55 To be continued!!!!

This hospital used to be known for its fast ER and prompt staff attention and fully staffed. It's not that way any longer. If you're here you're gonna be here a very long time so long that you might as well pack a sleeping bag cause it takes that long to get a Covid swab and a flu swab back to the bathroom here it looks like it belongs in a prison look at the pictures. I would find another ER. They're just too busy and overloaded here. I can't get to you for hours even after they take the exams it's really a shame. They have patience in the hallway. Patients lined up everywhere. People are coughing everywhere clean rooms for Covid and then I think it's ridiculous to wait five hours for a strep test just saying. Rude nurse. I'll tell you what if it hadn't been for my son collapse and I wouldn't of showed up next time. I'll tell him to try a different one. I don't know this is just really changed. It's gone downhill.

Wet floors

I had a hip surgery yesterday, too much anesthesia and caused nausea and vomiting for 12 hours in my room. The first nurse assistant helped me get clean and use bathroom, I have incontinance when I cough so I urinated on my socks and leg compressor , the assistant helped me get a pair . then the shift changed, and the little juice or water I took got expelled once I moved, the mess continued more times. The assistant was a spectator, didn't help . I walked myself to the bathroom -with out a walker- to clean myself and remove the socks, same thing a third time AND all while the floor was wet. I asked if maintenance could come but they didn't call anyone, OR they don't have the staff. the IV machine was broken so it beeped every 4 seconds, I reported this to nurse, assistant , front desk, they ignored me. It was midnight and I couldn't sleep due to the noise. I will Not be coming here again , you are on your own for afternoon and night shifts.

So true - thank a nurse!

My better half has had some issues lately that finally ended up with her having to have surgery. The doctor she was using for treatment recommended that we use this hospital. On the day of the surgery, we had to arrive by 6:00 A.M. This allowed for the completion of all the paperwork, all the pre-op stuff, and got her the number 1 position for surgery. We were able to have conversations with the doctor, anesthesiologist, and nurses. I don't know if it was due to covid, or if it was the surgeon's request, but instead of coming out to talk with me after the surgery, he wanted to call me. The surgeon did a fantastic job. He either invented, or perfected, the robotic surgery that my wife had. That type of surgery allows for a much quicker recovery, less pain, and less scarring. If you have to have surgery this is definitely the way to go. Hospital rooms were private, and our room was just up from the nurse's station. The room included a recliner and another straight back chair. All the nurses we came in contact with did an amazing job. I have to say that it seemed like they treated my wife as one of their own family. The only part of the hospital stay that could improve was that there seemed to be a miscommunication on the wife's diet while in the hospital. They would not let her have regular coffee! I'm still hearing about that:-) I hate that anyone has to go through any type of surgery. However, if you need surgery, I highly recommend this hospital.

The doctors and nurses went above and beyond to try and save my grandson. He was moved to the 10th floor icu and they gave him the best care possible. They showed so much compassion and love not only for my grandson but for my daughter and son-in-law as well. Unfortunately my grandson didn't make it but it wasn't because of lack of effort on their part. I want to commend the doctors and nurses in the emergency room and especially the entire staff on the 10th floor. As grandparents we appreciate everything from the bottom of our hearts.

I was there since 8 o'clock in the afternoon and I didn't leave till about two. The reason I'm giving this one star is because I didn't feel like I was getting listened to yesterday. The doctors were very rude. I believe the Doctor Who checked me yesterday again was Miss Parker and she was very dismissive and I understand that y'all were shortstaffed, but at the end of the day I feel like it's the doctor's job to make the patient feel safe and secured and besides being dismissive, I don't know what this position is called, but the lady Evelyn, who was taking the patients to their rooms back-and-forth and giving discharge papers was extremely rude and I hope if I ever come back that I don't have to talk to her since the hospital was shortstaffed last night and I couldn't talk to Miss Parker again about more questions. I thought that I was comfortable talking to Miss Evelyn, but she kept repeating herself and getting louder, dismissing my questions as well and when giving me my discharge papers, she told me that y'all would never say no to a visit with me because I don't have insurance but to stop coming back to the hospital because the things that I'm trying to get looked at as far as my personal problems are not for the hospital ! And don't get me wrong. I was very patient the whole entire time very understanding that y'all were shortstaffed, but at the end of the day like I said, I don't understand why she was getting repeated on purpose, nodding her head and having very rude body language, I wish I got the students name who had asked me questions before anybody came in my room, but he had glasses and he was a student doctor. If I'm not mistaken, he was the only one who made me feel like I was being listened to yesterday as a patient. He actually answered more of my questions and the five minutes that he was in the room with us, me and my boyfriend. He was very understanding. He did super good and honestly asked the most questions that I've ever been asked, unfortunately I won't be coming back due to this situation but again I just felt like the whole situation wasn't called for. Who says don't come back when the only reason I came back was because the doctors who saw me in my room last time told me to come back if my symptoms came again?

From the 2nd floor ICU to the 3rd floor, every member of the team demonstrated professionalism, compassion, and dedication. Upon admission to the 2nd floor ICU, Nurse Kelly immediately stood out for her attentiveness and kindness. She responded quickly to all of my needs, answered my questions with patience, and even went above and beyond by faxing important paperwork to my school, an act that greatly eased my stress and anxiety. When I transitioned to the 3rd floor Dr. Horton also played a vital role in my care. She consistently kept me informed about my condition, reassured me that my wellbeing was her priority, and provided updates that made me feel comfortable and confident throughout my recovery. Her thoughtful communication and genuine concern helped me feel supported during a challenging time. Nurse Mike provided excellent support during the evening shifts, while Nurse Devon was equally attentive and caring during the day. The technicians were consistently responsive and ensured that all of my needs were met with efficiency and respect. I would also like to recognize Gloria from housekeeping, who diligently cleaned my room each day maintaining a safe and sanitized environment. Her dedication contributed greatly to my comfort and peace of mind. What impressed me most was the consistently positive and friendly attitude of the entire staff. Their warmth and professionalism not only ensured my wellbeing but also brightened my days during a difficult period. I am sincerely thankful to Dr. Horton, the nurses Kelly,Mike and Devon, technicians, and house keeper Gloria for their exceptional service and compassionate care.

Upon arrival, I waited in the lobby for more than two hours before being triaged. During that time, I vomited blood four times. I informed registration staff each time my symptoms worsened. While they acknowledged me, no one alerted a nurse or physician. The only communication I received during this extended wait occurred when I personally approached the registration desk. Nurses and clinical staff did not proactively provide updates, check on my condition, or offer reassurance. No one communicated directly with me about delays, next steps, or the severity of my symptoms until one nurse later addressed me in a dismissive manner that felt as though my concerns were being minimized rather than evaluated. While waiting, another patient loudly discussed on speaker phone that doctors believed he might have pneumonia or COVID. He was not asked to wear a mask or take any precautions. He also played a video with explicit sexual content and profanity in the waiting room. The environment felt chaotic and unsafe. Because the waiting room was full and I was feeling increasingly anxious and physically ill, I briefly stepped outside the sliding glass doors for space. A nurse who had performed my EKG and lab work told me I was not permitted to sit there, despite the lack of available seating inside. She indicated she would draw additional blood in the waiting area, which did not seem appropriate given the proximity to other patients. When I requested that my IV be removed, I was taken into a side room. The nurse appeared distracted, singing aloud while working. She then reprimanded me for placing an item in the wrong trash container and announced to the triage nurse that I was leaving. Several patients later told me they could clearly hear staff discussing me as I exited, including a comment from a nurse stating she "hated patients like me." As I left the facility, I vomited blood again outside the ER entrance. No staff member checked on my condition. My experience was marked by prolonged delays during a potentially serious medical situation, lack of communication, limited infection control measures, and unprofessional conduct. I sought emergency care hoping to feel safe, heard, and appropriately treated. Unfortunately, that was not my experience.

The OB clinic is okay, but there are several providers and you don't always see the same doctor/ midwife. There were times some employees were a little condescending, but overall I had a good experience during pregnancy. They scheduled an induction and gave me a different date than they gave the hospital so I got a call that I "no showed" until I told them my midwife told me Tuesday, not Monday. The doctor that told me he would be delivering for me wasn't even there and a midwife I had never met ended up delivering. My son was in the NICU - the staff were kind and helpful. My nurses on the post-partum floor were incredible and very attentive. The OB clinic had some issues with my post-partum care and I had to call several times to get what I needed. First they lost the paperwork so I completed it again then they forgot to send the paperwork. What should have taken a week or two took over two months. The ER is quick and has saved my son's life more than once. Our last visit was on Sunday when he began having seizures and staff was quick to get him into the trauma bay and stabilized. I did have to finally yell out "who do I need to talk to about (medicine)?" because I was telling them what he needed per another doctor, but nobody seemed to be listening. I get they were in crisis mode trying to save his life, but the meds I was referring to were life saving in addition to the other meds they were giving. Finally someone took charge and told me to tell her the started directing others on what to do. Things were smooth after that. Overall we love this Christus location and wouldn't go anywhere else for emergent care.

My significant other was transferred here for gallbladder surgery, and from the moment we arrived, the stay was filled with safety concerns, poor communication, and lack of compassion. We found another patient's urine sample left in his care area, used medical supplies near the bed, and immediately questioned whether the room had even been cleaned. The worst part came after surgery when he was left alone in severe 10/10 pain for about 40 minutes despite calling for help multiple times. No nurse came until I physically went looking for her and demanded help. (Jamila) 3rd Floor Discharge was just as bad. I did everything I needed to do at the house so that I could follow them to the hospital. Upon arriving at the hospital, parking is bad, at best. Then trying to navigate in the hospital requires a tour guide, breadcrumbs, and a compass. They let me in the emergency room and told me what little room she was in. These are rooms off the main emergency room, and they are small, and not made for visitors. One thing I noticed getting into the area was all the patients in beds lining the hallway. After doing all their testing on my wife, the doctor advised that she had not had a stroke. The reason she passed out was due to a tumor pressing on a vein. He wanted to do surgery the next morning. My wife never got a room that night, and I found out what it was like to sleep in a 5th grade plastic lunch chair to sleep in/on. They rolled us to surgery first thing the next morning, and we were visited by multiple doctors and nurses. Finally, the surgeon arrived to talk with us. He had a list of questions he went over with my wife. One of them had to do about whether or not she had taken any kind of medications in the last week. When he found that she had taken Advil within the last 7 days, he said we can't do the surgery because of complications from taking it. He said we would have to reschedule. That turned out to be a godsend. Will I return? As the doctors and nurses we saw appeared to be very capable, I was not impressed with the hospital itself. They are very busy and crowed with not enough rooms for the people they are treating. I don't know if that overcrowding was just that day, or if it is the usual way of doing business. Maybe San Antonio doesn't have enough hospitals. I would go to this hospital, but I prefer to go where we ended up at Methodist Stone Oak.
