    Nurses defintely didn't do this
    Priscilla T.

Esh! I hate to leave this type of review but this was based on my personal experience. We first stayed here in early March because we welcomed our sweet baby boy into this world. The care we received in the labor and delivery unit was amazing. Unfortunately, we returned because my husband had to have emergency surgery at the end of March. We stayed on the fourth floor. The care was not as great. I will give credit where credit is due. Our charge nurse Will was amazing! If every nurse could be the way he was ...the hospital would function so smoothly! Ruth and Dorothy were at the top of the list too! Those nurses do Gods works. Some of the other nurses were very rude and anytime we needed something it seemed as if we were bothering them. Granted my husband was in a lot of pain. Two of the nurses left him unattended too for hours at a time. I also want to add we aren't very needy people and I get that they are probably short staffed but that shouldn't take away from quality care. Our sheets were changed once because I had to ask many times. They left several IVs out sometimes would forget to come back and plug them in and not to mention we did not get checked on every hour as their sign says they will. Being that I had just had a baby I thought for sure we were going to get the same type of care we got on the second floor. I do want to mention our saving grace besides Will our RN. Dr. Wool was amazing! He made me feel like all was right in the world. He followed my husband along with his care and made sure to apologize for every mishap the hospital made. Dr. Wool was not the surgeon who was on my husbands case but he went above and beyond to explain step by step what was going on. His bed side manners are phenomenal. I really hope that in the future Methodist could step it up a bit because there was so many times I was highly discouraged.

Neighborhood Baptist seems to employ once retired doctors which has been fine the previous visits my mom had but this time we needed a different approach to her issue so I'm glad we went here. This ER is staffed with either medical school doctors or doctors fresh from graduation. We were helped by a very nice doctor named Dr. Smith who ordered a new CT scan. The previous scan could not on point the exact reason for the lower back pain. This time, when the Hospital radiologists reviewed the scan, they saw she had T1 and T2 compression fractures on her spine which gave the direct cause of her pain. They prescribed muscle relaxers and Lidocaine patches. It helped bridge my mom's move to hospice much better than the previous visits. She ended up needing a stronger pain intervention but I'm so grateful they gave us the diagnosis that explained the pain. Methodist Hospital offers free valet in the weekdays which I suggest you use because the parking lot was packed and finding a spot would have been an extra stress I did not need at the time.

I was there since 8 o'clock in the afternoon and I didn't leave till about two. The reason I'm giving this one star is because I didn't feel like I was getting listened to yesterday. The doctors were very rude. I believe the Doctor Who checked me yesterday again was Miss Parker and she was very dismissive and I understand that y'all were shortstaffed, but at the end of the day I feel like it's the doctor's job to make the patient feel safe and secured and besides being dismissive, I don't know what this position is called, but the lady Evelyn, who was taking the patients to their rooms back-and-forth and giving discharge papers was extremely rude and I hope if I ever come back that I don't have to talk to her since the hospital was shortstaffed last night and I couldn't talk to Miss Parker again about more questions. I thought that I was comfortable talking to Miss Evelyn, but she kept repeating herself and getting louder, dismissing my questions as well and when giving me my discharge papers, she told me that y'all would never say no to a visit with me because I don't have insurance but to stop coming back to the hospital because the things that I'm trying to get looked at as far as my personal problems are not for the hospital ! And don't get me wrong. I was very patient the whole entire time very understanding that y'all were shortstaffed, but at the end of the day like I said, I don't understand why she was getting repeated on purpose, nodding her head and having very rude body language, I wish I got the students name who had asked me questions before anybody came in my room, but he had glasses and he was a student doctor. If I'm not mistaken, he was the only one who made me feel like I was being listened to yesterday as a patient. He actually answered more of my questions and the five minutes that he was in the room with us, me and my boyfriend. He was very understanding. He did super good and honestly asked the most questions that I've ever been asked, unfortunately I won't be coming back due to this situation but again I just felt like the whole situation wasn't called for. Who says don't come back when the only reason I came back was because the doctors who saw me in my room last time told me to come back if my symptoms came again?

From the 2nd floor ICU to the 3rd floor, every member of the team demonstrated professionalism, compassion, and dedication. Upon admission to the 2nd floor ICU, Nurse Kelly immediately stood out for her attentiveness and kindness. She responded quickly to all of my needs, answered my questions with patience, and even went above and beyond by faxing important paperwork to my school, an act that greatly eased my stress and anxiety. When I transitioned to the 3rd floor Dr. Horton also played a vital role in my care. She consistently kept me informed about my condition, reassured me that my wellbeing was her priority, and provided updates that made me feel comfortable and confident throughout my recovery. Her thoughtful communication and genuine concern helped me feel supported during a challenging time. Nurse Mike provided excellent support during the evening shifts, while Nurse Devon was equally attentive and caring during the day. The technicians were consistently responsive and ensured that all of my needs were met with efficiency and respect. I would also like to recognize Gloria from housekeeping, who diligently cleaned my room each day maintaining a safe and sanitized environment. Her dedication contributed greatly to my comfort and peace of mind. What impressed me most was the consistently positive and friendly attitude of the entire staff. Their warmth and professionalism not only ensured my wellbeing but also brightened my days during a difficult period. I am sincerely thankful to Dr. Horton, the nurses Kelly,Mike and Devon, technicians, and house keeper Gloria for their exceptional service and compassionate care.

Upon arrival, I waited in the lobby for more than two hours before being triaged. During that time, I vomited blood four times. I informed registration staff each time my symptoms worsened. While they acknowledged me, no one alerted a nurse or physician. The only communication I received during this extended wait occurred when I personally approached the registration desk. Nurses and clinical staff did not proactively provide updates, check on my condition, or offer reassurance. No one communicated directly with me about delays, next steps, or the severity of my symptoms until one nurse later addressed me in a dismissive manner that felt as though my concerns were being minimized rather than evaluated. While waiting, another patient loudly discussed on speaker phone that doctors believed he might have pneumonia or COVID. He was not asked to wear a mask or take any precautions. He also played a video with explicit sexual content and profanity in the waiting room. The environment felt chaotic and unsafe. Because the waiting room was full and I was feeling increasingly anxious and physically ill, I briefly stepped outside the sliding glass doors for space. A nurse who had performed my EKG and lab work told me I was not permitted to sit there, despite the lack of available seating inside. She indicated she would draw additional blood in the waiting area, which did not seem appropriate given the proximity to other patients. When I requested that my IV be removed, I was taken into a side room. The nurse appeared distracted, singing aloud while working. She then reprimanded me for placing an item in the wrong trash container and announced to the triage nurse that I was leaving. Several patients later told me they could clearly hear staff discussing me as I exited, including a comment from a nurse stating she "hated patients like me." As I left the facility, I vomited blood again outside the ER entrance. No staff member checked on my condition. My experience was marked by prolonged delays during a potentially serious medical situation, lack of communication, limited infection control measures, and unprofessional conduct. I sought emergency care hoping to feel safe, heard, and appropriately treated. Unfortunately, that was not my experience.

Then their billing…read moredepartment spent over a month proving that trust was misplaced.** My clinical experience here was genuinely exceptional -- the nurses, physicians, lactation consultants, delivery preparation classes, even the food and the offer of prayer. I left with nothing but gratitude. Because of that, I trusted this hospital when the bills started arriving. That trust has been systematically broken. I provided my insurance information three separate times -- first at admission, again in person with a financial counselor at discharge who scanned it directly, and a third time over the phone with billing. The hospital still failed to apply it. This was not an oversight on my part. They received it. They scanned it. They still did not process it. As a result, I received a bill for over $9,000 with no explanation. When I flagged it, I was asked to provide the same information again -- as if none of it had ever happened. Additional bills followed, including from external physician groups, with no clear explanation. A team that cannot complete this basic task three times over is not a team whose unverified bills I can simply accept and pay. Since February 26, I have sent more than 10 requests -- by email, phone, and patient portal -- to the Billing Department, Patient Account & Financial Assistance, and the CFO's Office, asking for nothing more than an itemized bill and a written explanation of charges. Every single request was ignored. When I did reach someone in billing by phone, I was told written documentation could not be provided. Also he refused to provide name. Yet when I was asked to pay immediately, there was suddenly a willingness to put things in writing. That double standard is not a coincidence -- it is a pattern. I am not asking for anything extraordinary. As a patient, I have every right to review an itemized bill before paying. That is it. **【UPDATE - 3/30/2026】** The hospital responded publicly and asked me to email patientexperience@tenethealth.com. I had already emailed that address before even posting this review. Still no response. **【UPDATE - 4/6/2026】** It has now been over five weeks since my first request. More than 10 documented attempts across multiple departments. Zero written responses. Zero itemized bill. Now Daily "overdue" notices. Publicly inviting a patient to reach out -- while ignoring every actual attempt they make -- is not customer service. It is the appearance of accountability without any of the substance. I have been patient, documented, and reasonable throughout. I will update this review if that ever changes.

The OB clinic is okay, but there are several providers and you don't always see the same doctor/ midwife. There were times some employees were a little condescending, but overall I had a good experience during pregnancy. They scheduled an induction and gave me a different date than they gave the hospital so I got a call that I "no showed" until I told them my midwife told me Tuesday, not Monday. The doctor that told me he would be delivering for me wasn't even there and a midwife I had never met ended up delivering. My son was in the NICU - the staff were kind and helpful. My nurses on the post-partum floor were incredible and very attentive. The OB clinic had some issues with my post-partum care and I had to call several times to get what I needed. First they lost the paperwork so I completed it again then they forgot to send the paperwork. What should have taken a week or two took over two months. The ER is quick and has saved my son's life more than once. Our last visit was on Sunday when he began having seizures and staff was quick to get him into the trauma bay and stabilized. I did have to finally yell out "who do I need to talk to about (medicine)?" because I was telling them what he needed per another doctor, but nobody seemed to be listening. I get they were in crisis mode trying to save his life, but the meds I was referring to were life saving in addition to the other meds they were giving. Finally someone took charge and told me to tell her the started directing others on what to do. Things were smooth after that. Overall we love this Christus location and wouldn't go anywhere else for emergent care.

I did everything I needed to do at the house so that I could follow them to the hospital. Upon arriving at the hospital, parking is bad, at best. Then trying to navigate in the hospital requires a tour guide, breadcrumbs, and a compass. They let me in the emergency room and told me what little room she was in. These are rooms off the main emergency room, and they are small, and not made for visitors. One thing I noticed getting into the area was all the patients in beds lining the hallway. After doing all their testing on my wife, the doctor advised that she had not had a stroke. The reason she passed out was due to a tumor pressing on a vein. He wanted to do surgery the next morning. My wife never got a room that night, and I found out what it was like to sleep in a 5th grade plastic lunch chair to sleep in/on. They rolled us to surgery first thing the next morning, and we were visited by multiple doctors and nurses. Finally, the surgeon arrived to talk with us. He had a list of questions he went over with my wife. One of them had to do about whether or not she had taken any kind of medications in the last week. When he found that she had taken Advil within the last 7 days, he said we can't do the surgery because of complications from taking it. He said we would have to reschedule. That turned out to be a godsend. Will I return? As the doctors and nurses we saw appeared to be very capable, I was not impressed with the hospital itself. They are very busy and crowed with not enough rooms for the people they are treating. I don't know if that overcrowding was just that day, or if it is the usual way of doing business. Maybe San Antonio doesn't have enough hospitals. I would go to this hospital, but I prefer to go where we ended up at Methodist Stone Oak.
