I went in, gave them my identification and insurance information. I was given a clipboard with paperwork to complete my profile. By the time I was done, they had already verified my insurance and I was ready to be seen. The medical technician took me over to their area and prepped me for my shot. After that it was over. The dr or np (unsure of her credentials) named Monica (unsure of her last name) showed up annoyed and is firmly NOT someone who should deal in pediatrics. She chastised my bleeding son multiple times for his fear and tears (mild and understandable tears given the trauma of the moment, mind you).  She referred to his "dramatics" more than once. The dramatics in question were simple whimpers, some shivers, and mild cries of a cooperative child in excruciating pain.  I was honestly surprised with how well he handled the very scary situation. I promise, his behavior did not warrant the chastisement.  I am a mom of 14 years with an additional 20 years of childcare experience under my belt. I am perfectly aware of how difficult children can be. I also came prepared to support my son and assist the medical professionals while he went through a truly traumatic experience.  One single ounce of patience, understanding, or kindness would have gone a long way. Unfortunately Medical Professional Monica did choose that option.  The only reason this review ended up with a 2 star rating was because of the care that the nurse, Brianna, gave us. She was kind and patient and (despite the fact that she was also being treated poorly by Medical Professional Monica) still showed the most genuine care for my son. When Monica had to cut off the flap of skin left behind after his cut, Brianna gave my son a game to play to distract him. She showed empathy and kindness that went such a long way. She was a shining example of how compassionate someone in a helping profession should be! She deserves all the commendations a nurse can receive!  The rest of the staff was kind and helpful. The front desk got us back immediately and did not make us wait in the waiting room for help. We are so grateful for how they treated.  I wish that Medical Professional Monica would learn from this incident to take a breath next time she handles a pediatric patient. Patience is difficult, but not impossible.

If your child needs outpatient surgery, this is the place to be! Think ear tubes, tonsillectomy,…read moreadenoidectomy. The surgery center is very kid and parent friendly. I have been here more than five times and have had a wonderful experience every time. They contact you several days before the surgery to let you know what to expect. You can tour the facilities with your child prior to the surgery to ease anxiety. This is a great thing to do with children toddler age and up. On the day of the surgery when you arrive the child is given his surgery clothes. They even offer smaller versions for favorite stuffed animals and dolls. My boys always loved to dress their "friends." We still have some miniature hospital gowns. While you wait for the doctor there is a large play area with toys and movies. When the child goes back to surgery they go through a "bunny tunnel" where they pick out a toy that is taken into surgery and given to them after surgery. Recovery is special because you are allowed back when they are waking up. You go to their bedside and can comfort them for the remainder of surgery. The staff loves kids and they are fantastic. One thing to keep in mind is that only certain doctors use the facility. You can find a list at lebonheureastsurgery.com under the partner tab. I recommend going with a doctor on the list since the facility is so wonderful. I have used other outpatient facilities for my child and was not as happy. Since they also service adults they are not as kid friendly.

Recovery was pretty easy for us, though we had to run out and fill the prescriptions because the hospital will not call or fax in a narcotics prescription (hydrocodone, etc.). The individual pre-op rooms were very small (too small for the chairs that were in there), and our door was incredibly loud. There was a TV, though, so he could watch cartoons and try to stay busy while we waited. The "bunny tunnel" is a hallway where the kids can pick a toy as they go in to surgery, but the operating rooms are HUGE and bright and so scary to a kid. I wish they would gas the kids before they went in- it would have helped us, anyway!
