Blink and you'll walk pass this tiny coffee jaunt tucked in between the entrance to an office building and the Apple store. Menu is sparse but has something for everyone. Was the coffee good? Yes. However. They do not have any dairy milk options, which would be fine, but then they charge you 50 cents to get the almond or oat, which you are forced to get if you want any milk! Either get some regular milk or stop charging extra for the only option you have. read more

Love, love, love Methodical Coffee. It's such a welcoming environment. The staff are lovely and accommodating and willing to figure out the best drink for you. They're not like any craft coffee bar that I have ever been too. I still have yet to pickup their bagged coffee (which is a beautifully designed bag, the same artist that designed the bag also designed their espresso machine, IN SHARPI!). If you are a native to Greenville, this coffee shop should be the number one shop that you stop by. It's near the general store, Tupelo honey, and the third party Apple Reseller store. This place is just "ok". It is very nice inside, the layout and the décor are outstanding-a very modern feel. They have beautiful cups and dishes for snacks and drinks. it is very airy and clean. The staff is a bit odd. They won't make drinks as you request them. Ok, so I typically get espresso, 1-3 shots and a flavored syrup with it. They told me that they usually didn't make theirs drinks that way, and actually refused to do it. Now, I don't know if it was just that one employee or what, because I haven't been back to see. I think that's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard and I hope that it was just a fluke in service that day.. read more

Very chill and hip place, baristas are friendly and happy to explain the Barista's Choice/menu for you (vs being snobby like other places I've been to!). I love the floral patterns in their decor and the general ambiance and minimalism of this shop. There's a little upstairs area with tables and seating if you want to relax and chat with friends or get some studying done. I ordered a latte and a cold brew horchata. They had a creamy and smooth taste, although the coffee flavor in both were pretty mild. We had a great experience at Methodical Coffee on 1/6/19. We ordered the recommended customer favorites: Tres Leche and Mocha. We were big fans of the Tres Leche it is the perfect balance of expresso and sweetness. The mocha also had a great balance of flavors. I think it's important to know the mocha is made with a dark chocolate so it isn't as sweet as other mochas you might be used to. We loved the atmosphere :) Lots of book readers and writers present this Sunday morning. Great place to refresh the soul at this easy to find downtown location. read more

Great location in the middle of downtown and one wall is basically a giant window looking into a bustling square so great for people watching. The coffee is served in really pretty blue chinaware. I loved their chai latte, cold brew and their specials most recently the cold brew horchata. They have a limited selection of baked goods that get delivered around 9 every morning but each one was unique. They're not your basic coffee shop baked goods. They've had fruit custard pastries, almond filled croissants, ham and cheese croissants and carrot cream cheese muffins. They run out around noon so get there early! read more

I would strongly recommend starting your day at Methodical. The decor is beautiful, the coffee is delicious and the pastries are can't miss. I parked in the Richardson garage on both Saturday and Sunday for free and was super close. Love the blue and white dishes, the cloth napkins and the personal service. Both days, the same baristas were working and were genuine and seemed happy to be at work. I can't even tell you how refreshing it is to see a happy barista. Best coffee shop in Greenville! The staff is always friendly and you can't beat the atmosphere. I love this place from the way it's decorated, to the music, to the lightening, to the menu selection, all the way to the blue and white porcelain each drink is served in. I've never had a disappointing menu item, but the pour overs are my favorite. Each cup is quality coffee. Along with coffee, they offer a selection of tea, wine, pastries, and have started to offer a larger food menu. It can be busy at times, but it's always worth the wait. Methodical Coffee is an absolute delight. It is quite possibly my favorite coffee shop, and as a coffee fiend, I've been to a lot. And I mean, A LOT. Whenever I am en route to either Atlanta or Charlotte or somewhere in between, I make sure to factor a stop at Methodical into my travel itinerary. The interior is just a dream. I welcome whoever designed the interior to design my home, because the aesthetic mirrors my own identically. The Rifle Paper Co wallpaper and goodies for sale, the marble, the brass, the art, the glassware, the friendly baristas, the delicious coffee, the pastries - simply everything that comprises this coffee shop is just delightful. It's evident that every detail was well-thought out and beautifully executed. It's got a cozy feel, with some outside seating, lower-level seating, as well as more tables in a balcony area upstairs. I've never had trouble finding a seat. The baristas would probably get sick of me if I lived in Greenville, because I think I'd basically just camp out here. Definitely, absolutely, without a doubt make a point of stopping here if you're ever in Greenville! I promise it's worth a detour! read more

This beautiful place couldn't have happened to three nicer guys. Will Shurtz has, for some time, been the finest barista in Greenville (as well as one of the nicest guys on earth). Match those sweet skills up with high-class design, courtesy of Marco (formerly lead designer for MailChimp & currently for Etsy) and the operational background of David (who had run a successful boutique hostel in Prague). Sounds like magic to me. The great news? This place delivers. Amazingly flavorful, hand-selected coffee beans (Counter Culture is the ground floor here), pulled with a smile and conversation by Will & his crafty staff. Favorite coffee shop in all of Greenville, and I've been to most of them! Always busy, it can even be hard to find a spot to sit sometimes, but there is a bar seating by the window too, so if you come by yourself it's not a problem. Not a good spot for groups as it is rather small. If the weather is nice, I love sitting outside and people watching in the plaza. They will bring your drink to your table. Ask for the bathroom code as the bathroom is in the lobby of the building. Coffee shop is so cute, coffee is delicious, atmosphere is on point. Couldn't ask for anything better! TIP- I could barely find it the first time I went, it's next to the Apple store, just a little door with an "M" on it! read more

I kept hearing about this coffee place from people talking about it and had to check it out for myself. The location, staff, service and ambiance was great and I'm not taking anything away from that at all. There is a great vibe in that establishment for sure. From my surroundings it looked like a good place to catch up on some laptop work or chit chat with some old friends. I come to a coffee place for the sole purpose of why it's there, The Coffee. I tried 3 different styles of coffee that day all of the same bean origin (Ethiopia). The pour over, siphon, and a regular Latte. Lately I've been really digging the coffee from Ethiopia and they happen to have it on tap. The pour over style of brewing is my favorite at any establishment if offered. The siphon is more of a show than it is a flavor extracting technique because the coffee lost it's original flavor and tasted as if I ordered a cup of tea. Overall my visit to the talked about Methodical Coffee was OK. I loved everything from the appearance, vibe, staff, and environment, but the coffee wasn't up to par for me. I was hoping for a robust, flavorful, cup or cups of coffee instead received 3 mediocre cups of coffee with a show. read more

This is a great little coffee shop. We were passing through Greenville and needed some caffeine so we stopped here. It's in a cute little alley way and is really beautiful inside. The staff was extremely friendly and helped us choose our drinks. I got a tres leches-which is like a cappuccino but with some condensed milk, and my husband got a cappuccino. Both were delicious and the milk was perfectly frothy. I wasn't sure if the tres leches would be too sweet for me but it was perfect. Not too sweet at all but enough that it tasted like a treat. This is THE place for the coffee elite. Detail focused/artisan pour over coffee, all the trappings and trimmings of a coffee shop that means business, and friendly staff to boot! I think the best way to put it is Methodical has coffee snob coffee, but without the snobby attitudes. Even though the shop was busy, the staff went out of their way to make me feel comfortable. These are good people, they care about their craft, and the coffee they serve makes it obvious. I am actually not a coffee snob, so I can't speak much about how the coffee is made well or not, but to celebrate the grok conference in April 2015, Methodical served a signature drink: the bourbon mocha. This. Drink. Was. Perfect. It warms the soul and makes you feel like the world is good. I could have downed many. Sweet, bitter, and creamy. If ever you have a chance to try this drink, you won't be disappointed. The location is clean, beautiful, and well kept. The loft has lots more seating than the main floor offers.
