The team is definitely lucky to have her! I have officially found my forever go-to salon.

I know I can trust Helen to give me perfection even when I don't even know what I want. Today, I came to Helen wanting to blend my roots a little bit. She had done this absolutely gorgeous ash bronde balayage, but it had been a few months and I wanted to blend my very very dark roots. I wasn't sure exactly what I wanted, so I told Helen to do what she thinks would be best and wow, she delivered. She somehow created me the perfect tone for my skin that makes me look so tan and glowy. Even though I was in a bit of a time crunch, she still gave me such a beautiful blowout and soft curls. I've gotten more compliments today on my hair than probably my whole life! All the girls at the salon were so sweet and welcoming and even their clientele were so kind. Heather has really created something special! Can't wait to get my hair done again soon!!!

I went for my initial appointment with Sarah in April of 2019 & couldn't even imagine going anywhere else at this point. I would wholeheartedly recommend her salon to absolutely anyone without even the slightest bit of hesitation. Not only is my hair blonder & healthier than I ever thought possible, I can't remember the last time that it took me more than ~30 seconds to detangle it! Ms. Sarah Dufrane is the real deal!! By transforming my hair, she has helped me to transform my entire life!!

Fabulous experience…read more I found Sarah after doing a search on great colorists in the DMV and professionals that use the Virtue product line. Looking at Instagram and FB pictures, I was immediately impressed with her artistry. What gave me pause is that I'm African American with porous natural hair that has a tight curl pattern. None of the pictures showed hair like mine. But what motivated me to contact Sarah was her commitment to continued education and serious interest in the health of her clients' hair. After exchanging a few text messages, I went in for a consultation. Based on the health of my hair, she recommended cellophane color as well as protein conditioning. Sarah managed to squeeze me into her schedule in a way that also accommodated several conference calls. Bottom line- Sarah did a wonderful job. The color looks great. My hair feels much healthier. She had to blow it out in order to cut it, so I elected to keep the straight style. My experience was much better than the last Black salon that I last went to and it's the best blow out that I've ever had. She managed the heat so that my hair wasn't fried. No smell of burning hair. I definitely plan to return.

I know absolutely nothing about hair and let her know I was just starting my hair care journey so when I got into her salon she was able to steer me in the right direction of where I needed to be. Off the bat - she is a by text ONLY appointment based small business. I was a little scared about this at first because I've never sought services in this way but this totally paid off! When you book your appointment she lets you know her policies. When you park on the street she is located inside of Salon JC and I definitely recommend logging onto the wifi before you enter her specific salon! It's a cute one person salon room that felt very intimate but not suffocating. It's nicely lit by natural lighting as she has a nice big window on her side of the salon. My hair was extremely dead as you can see from the first picture but the second one is my natural hair after the cut. My hair based off of my length and thickness was $170 w/o tip and I don't regret a penny. I would definitely come back to her for future services that I need! Thank you Heba :)

Sara is an educator and artist. Both of these skills became readily evident as she patiently explained how best to hydrate my hair and retain length. She first evaluated my color (I have varying shades of light brown and blond, but my roots had grown out by ~1-1/2in and the grays were screaming) and talked me through how she was going to blend my roots to match my existing color and would not be adding additional highlights at that time. I am OBSESSED with my color - imagine warm blond, light brown, with blond sparkles! Sara can paint some hair folks and understands tone & blending. Next, she thoroughly cleansed my scalp and applied a steam treatment to moisturize and deep condition my coils. After, she blew me out with a round brush (her hands are SO GENTLE - no pulling or tugging - and then silk-pressed my hair into a carefree tousled curl style that lasted for more than a week. The pièce de résistance was when she taught me how to pin curl the style for maintenance. I've spent a small mortgage on my hair throughout my 55-years, often with lackluster results. To add insult to injury, many stylists have balked (out loud) about the thickness of my hair. Not Sara. She wasn't the least bit intimated by thick coils and made light work of all the steps described. As soon as she touched my hair, I knew I was in good hands because she just understands hair across the spectrum. If you've read this far, you know that I'm a Sara fan. She is now my go-to stylist when in the U.S. and I cannot wait to see her for my next appointment in November. If you're looking for a centrally located salon in Arlington, VA, that is situated in a beautiful building, with a colorist, stylist, and hair artisan that will pamper and empower you on your hair journey, I highly recommend that you check out Sara of Haircare by Sara.

The salon itself is welcoming, clean, and relaxing. They offer drinks and snacks while you wait, and I appreciated that my appointment felt personalized rather than rushed. I was the only client being worked on, so I received plenty of one-on-one attention. Before we even started, we had a detailed conversation about my hair goals. I originally thought I wanted a much bigger haircut, but she took the time to explain what my hair actually needed to maintain both its health and length. Instead of simply doing what I asked, she educated me and helped me make the best decision for my hair. Throughout the appointment, she explained everything she was doing--from washing and steaming my hair to shaping my curls and discussing my hair's texture. She also shared helpful tips for maintaining healthy natural hair at home. I never felt rushed, and I learned a lot during my visit.
