We met Nick for a meet and greet. I felt comfortable with his training principles and his interaction both with the dogs and my kids. We have started our first of 10/12 lessons so we don't have ALOT of feedback to offer. So far, Nick has been amazing with the golden doodle and his communications/explanations seems we'll recover by the kids. Will update as soon as we are done with training. read more

We took our pup for training with Ryan. He is definitely gifted. Our pup now is trained in all the basic commands. We worked hard with her on responding to those commands and because of this, our relationship with our puppy is more enjoyable. read more

We rescued our sweet Maizie and were met with some challenges. After going through some "gentle" training where she learned many commands and amazing home behavior, she needed more structured training to learn outside manners, socialization skills and how to walk on a leash without dragging me around the neighborhood! In just 5 or 6 lessons she has transformed into the best dog ever! Nick is firm, but not mean. He totally understands Maizie and can articulate to us the best way to handle her! He listened to us and put a plan together with our wishes in mind! We consider our puppy to be part of the family so learning these behaviors early and well was very important. Thanks Nick for loving our girl and helping her to become a fabulous dog! read more

Jayda and Nick are godsends! We have a boisterous and energetic Blue-Nose Pit that needed some help with understanding boundaries. Nick and Jayda assessed Lila on our first session, communicated their assessment in terms that were easily understood, and set about a training schedule that focused on teaching Lila (and her handlers) how to channel her energy into positive and enjoyable behavior. The tools that Nick and Jayda provided us were immediate and impactful. Within a few sessions, Lila was a different dog - and a much happier dog, as we learned how to mitigate her anxiety of being a "working dog" without any guidance. My wife and I cannot convey the difference that it has made in our lives, nor the quality of life for Lila. We cannot recommend Nick and Jayda properly, as words cannot describe the transformation our lovely Lila has made, also bringing US some needed relief in OUR anxiety over trying to curb Lila's "enthusiasm." Thank you for everything, Jayda and Nick! We were so fortunate to meet you and have you take the time to help us learn how to give Lila the best quality of life through the tools you taught us apply to Lila. read more

Highly recommend! Jayda was so good with my chihuahua mix, Fred. I reached out to them because Fred is territorial and reactive to some people. From the initial phone call, Jayda was professional, patient, and communicative. In just 2 weeks Fred can hold place even in chaotic environments, walks so much better on a leash, and is hardly reactive anymore. I was hesitant to hire a trainer for a long time because of cost and fear that my reactive dog would be seen as a "bad" dog and not be met with kindness, but this was such a positive experience and worth the money! She approached Fred with understanding and kindness and worked with me based on our lifestyle and goals. I am so appreciative for her expertise and helping change our dynamic. read more

My dogs learned bad behavior from my past partner who worked from home and I needed assistance to help my pups unlearn inappropriate behavior. I've had one week of training with Nick so far and am already seeing progress with my two dogs who are mini pin mixes and rescues. I was nervous at first but Nick took the the time to bond with my pups and they learned to trust him within a few days. I've had past experience with other trainers that were also beneficial but you can tell Nick has a passion for helping humans and their pups overcome behavioral issues. I am anxious and excited to see more progress in the next week few weeks! read more

Hiring Nick as a trainer was the greatest decision I made for my dog, Hercules. I was struggling with my 2 yo Australian Shepherd with severe reactivity with other dogs, to the point where I could not take him on a walk alone. Nick immediately made a great impression on the first session. He was patient, and kind, and my Hercules responded very well to him. Nick has a genuine love for dogs and it truly comes across in his approach to training. He took the time to fine-tune what Hercules responded to and quickly removed what did not work. Nick has empowered me with the necessary tools and knowledge to temper Hercules's severe outbursts of reactivity towards other dogs and I now feel confident in taking Hercules on a walk alone. His expertise has greatly improved my relationship with my Hercules and overall knowledge of dog behavior. I learned so much from Nick and I will forever be thankful for his help. Nick truly cares about the goals you want to achieve with your dog and teaches you how to accomplish them. Nick is very personable, knowledgeable, and honest and makes the training experience a lot of fun. I appreciate that Nick has always offered to be a resource in addressing questions or difficulties that you may be having after training is completed. My family and I will miss our sessions with him, but we look forward to our follow-up sessions! So don't wait---- hire Nick, you won't regret it! read more

We absolutely loved working with Nick! He's so patient, kind, knowledgeable, and attentive to the needs of our pup Enzo, tailoring his program perfectly to what we needed help with. Our dog had 3 previous homes before coming to us and was not taught any boundaries. He was lugging us around where we had to use all of our strength to try and get control of him. After working with Nick the first day, we were able to be in control and start making corrections to his behavior. He gave us the tools we needed to build a strong relationship and how to consistently reinforce good habits and behavior for not only our dog but as well as for us as our pup's parents. If you need any help with your pup, he's your guy! Looking forward to the next time we work with you again Nick! read more

All I have to say is with just one session with Nick, my husky has already shown progress in our walks (a very nervous and anxious pup). He reacts a lot less to noise and other dogs with the help of Nick. He is so patient and goes at your dogs' pace, so they don't get too spooked or become fearful. I really do like how he demonstrates and gets your pup used to the structure leading up to the command with reward and then gives you a chance to practice to begin that leadership with your dog. Just learning how to speak and assert your leadership before you even leave the door really has created a shift in my dog's behavior on our walks and even inside when it comes to being patient with his meals. I've been practicing what I've learned in the session and it has helped so much with my 10 month old active pup. So excited for the next session. Definitely would 100% recommend. If you have any questions, he's always right there to answer and be in your corner. read more

Nick and Jayda are incredible! Our four month old puppy was struggling with LOTS of biting to the point where we felt truly overwhelmed and discouraged. Nick and Jayda provided us with tools and education on how to get him to listen and change his behavior fast. We saw improvements after our first lesson with them. Completely worth the investment! Also a plus that Nick and Jayda were just so enjoyable to be around. We truly had fun working them and it was apparent that they really love what they do. I would highly recommend their services! read more

NICK! He is the best! He was patient, funny, and gave our lab rescue Bixby, (and us!) , a pawsitive training experience! He is so polite, courteous, punctual, and texts me with updates when he is running late. Such a professional! Thank you Nick for everything! Our Bixby now walks without pulling, and enjoys walking with my husband, along with his brother, another rescue, a lab mix, Bogey. So happy we found Nick and M.E.T.A. Canine Academy. And, the video compilation he created is so awesome! read more

We are so happy we found this company! After getting a puppy a few months ago, we realized we needed help shaping better behavior with him. Nick is extremely knowledgeable in dog training and is so patient and loving towards our sweet Charlie boy. His leash walking has improved tremendously after only a few leash specific training sessions. Nick has laid out a foundation for us to continue to work on our dog with. I really feel like he cares about his clients and is not in the business for money, but for passion. I will personally be referring friends and family to Nick if they need help with their dogs read more

Absolutely fantastic! Curtis White trained our dogs for three weeks. Our dogs finally behaved after the training. Before hand, our dogs were out of control, and would go completely nuts when they saw other dogs. I was unable to walk them individually or together. Two times my dogs pulled me to the ground. I could no longer walk them. Once Curtis trained our dogs and trained us, we were finally able to walk them and be around other dogs. I can't even begin to explain how grateful I am. Once Curtis helped us, we were finally able to walk them and be around other dogs. I can't even begin to explain how grateful I am. Curtis is the best! I am so greatful. I would recommend him to everyone. read more

After looking around and doing some research I made a few inquiries regarding a dog trainer. I landed on Nick's instagram page and his personal website for his business "metacanineacademyoc." We scheduled a phone consultation to go over the reasons behind the need for a trainer. My 4 year old mastiff mix started acting out and lashed out on two occasions towards my other dogs in my household. All of the dogs have been around one another since they were pups, therefore there weren't any new introductions to be made. Diving deeper into the phone consultation we discussed how she was turning on us and becoming growly. After the first in person meet up we discussed two ways of addressing her behavior. One being that she needed guidance, reassurance, and an outlet for her energy. The second way would be to correct her reactivity when she gets to her assertive and aggressive state. Since she wasn't always in the reactive mindset, we decided to start from the basics and work our way up. For two weeks he worked with her on retraining her focus with basic commands, gain confidence, and work out her stubbornness. My dog, Willow, seemed to have forgotten her place in the household and was testing all of us and pushing her boundaries as much as possible. In those two weeks we regained our superiority to make sure she knew that she was not the alpha in the group. While we love how protective she is of all of us she needed to be put more at ease and not on alert all the time. Within just a few short days the entire family saw a positive change in her. Nick has helped me as an owner see things from a dogs perspective and gave me the tools to use in continuing to build that positive reinforcement. Willow is the fourth dog I have had the privilege of being a pet parent to, while not the easiest out of the four to train, she has been and will continue to hold a special place in my heart. While I described this stage as her "terrible teen years" she has grown out of her shell and into her puppy personality that disappeared over time. Nick has helped tremendously and is always available to provide feedback when needed. He is only a text or call a way if you have any questions. So if you're stuck in a rut with what to do with your fur baby that is acting out, call him. read more

I have a very smart long haired Chihuahua, terrier mix rescue. Shimmer, is very active and would run out the door to go play and back at everyone who came to visit. So, we knew we had to get her trained. Although we used Sit Means Sit at the time, Jayda was ShimmerJ's trainer the entire time. Jayda is the most amazing, loving and patient dog trainer. Shimmer spent 10 days with Jayda and came back a fully educated, obedient and excited pup. We knew we made the right decision when Jayda came to the house a week after training to check on our progress with Shimmer. Shimmer saw Jayda and couldn't jump in her arms kiss her fast enough. Shimmer now waits, sits, sits in place, heals on and off leash, greets guests without barking, and doesn't run out any door without permission. My husband Toby, me and Jayda are the only people Shimmer goes bonkers over. Thank you Jayda for loving Shimmer and teaching her and us the skills needed to keep her safe, so she can travel with us as my emotional support animal. Money well spent! read more

Look no further for a dog trainer! Nick at M.E.T.A. is an extremely knowledgeable and compassionate trainer. Whatever issue you have, Nick will help you and your best friend! My stubborn, rambunctious 10 month old shepherd mix is now a confident walking companion. She and I learned the correct commands. Who said that you can't teach an old dog new tricks? I am an old dog with many many years of dog parenting however I was taught new tricks by Nick. Call Nick, you won't be disappointed! read more

Nick is fantastic! Our 7 year old reactive golden retriever was displaying aggression toward other dogs, including our new puppy. Nick worked with our golden and polished his training. He helped us reintroduce the puppy to our golden and we couldn't be more grateful for all his hard work. Two days after training concluded with Nick the puppy and our golden started playing and the golden was the one to instigate. This is the opposite of how we started where the golden was snarling and nipping at the puppy. Nick is VERY knowledgeable, friendly, and responsive. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!! read more

My rescue terrier mix is a sweet girl, but feisty (which I like) and unpredictable (which I don't like). When playing outside, she would bolt up the driveway and I'd be afraid she would get hit by a car. Also, she tugged on the leash when going for a walk. We took the 4 week package and my little fur baby is a much better behaved pup. We are happy that we chose META. Kitsi was always excited when Nick arrived for her lesson. It has been 2 months since Kitsi graduated, but when I call META with questions, they kindly return my calls and address concerns. Usually I am the one who has forgotten something! When I stick to the training protocols, all bad habits have been alleviated. Thanks Nick! read more
