Matt is an amazing trainer! Are Stella is a different dog within just 3 short weeks. He is so sweet with her and has taught us so much. He even goes out of his way to check on her even when it's not a training day. I would highly recommend him to anyone who is looking. His prices are extremely competitive and worth every penny.

Highly recommend!!! I finally got the puppy I always wanted.... But I didn't realize how much I didn't know about puppy training. I was lucky enough to find Matt at Black Collar Dog Training. I had done my research of dog trainers in Orange County and many training facilities didn't seem the right match for me and my new pup. When Matt came to my home for our consultation, I saw first hand how he interacted with my pup and best of all how my pup responded to him. I knew then it was the perfect match and made the instant decision to sign up. I have seen my pup become less reactive, more confident and more focused on me and we are loving it! Matt's flexibility with my schedule has been a great plus. If you are looking for help training your doggie, look no further.... Black Dog Collar is the the right choice!

I met with several trainers before Brad & had little to no success in the areas we needed most, I was exhausted. Now for the first time ever, I can leave him home alone without the overwhelming anxiety and guilt that used to come with it. Our walks are actually enjoyable again, and I feel confident bringing him around friends and into new environments. What I appreciate most is that the training gave me the tools and confidence to understand and communicate with my dog better. I have my freedom back, and Cash is happier and more relaxed because of it. If you're struggling with separation anxiety, behavioral issues, or just want a better relationship with your dog, I can't recommend Brad enough. The impact has been life-changing.

Like many reviews have mentioned, we too were skeptical about seeing results within one in-person…read moresession. Nonetheless, we are so happy we found Brad! My boyfriend and I took in our cattle dog, Ollie, as a stray almost 4 months ago. Quick background: Ollie was found tied to a fire hydrant outside my work. Ollie is the sweetest boy, however is very reactive to other dogs and is a bundle of energy that presents as endless jumping and nipping. We have a senior Saint Bernard at home in which Ollie has been too rough/aggressive with her, even when our Saint Bernard makes it known that she doesn't want to be bothered. We tried water sprays at home and other attempts at training to no avail. We began to feel helpless as our biggest concern was his relationship with our Saint Bernard, as it got to the point where we felt we had to consider rehoming him. During our session with Brad, we immediately saw results which had us dumbfounded. Like other reviews have mentioned, his technique is not "mean," but is a firm mindset that Ollie requires. All the while, Brad emphasizes when to correct your dog and when to praise him, while stressing the fact that these techniques are not made to scare your dog, but rather establish a leader mentality while simultaneously letting the dog know that you provide love and safety. Of course, like any training, one can only be successful when carrying over these learned techniques at home, but Brad left us feeling confident and ready to continue the work. Even when we got home today, we already had seen a shift from Ollie. As for Brad himself - he is very approachable and really looks to understand both the dog and all the circumstances that come with them. You could really get a sense of how personal he is. We definitely recommend him. Thank you so much, Brad!

From the complimentary in home consult I realized Kevin knew what he was talking about! Much to my surprise, everyone love Malibu and is so kind! She was so happy to get dropped off- this is a girl who lives to be in my presence so seeing her happy and "at home" made my day! I can not recommend this place enough! Thank you to the entire SMS crew! You are all amazing! Kind, caring, intelligent and empowering! Malibu has gained confidence and some more!! I found myself walking at odd hours and constantly crossing the street to avoid other dogs -- it created major walk anxiety for both of us. Before finding Makenzie, I actually tried a board-and-train program at a more corporate facility. Unfortunately, it made little to no difference and ended up being a waste of a couple thousand dollars. Looking back, I really wish I had found Makenzie sooner -- but better late than never. After training with Makenzie, the difference was truly night and day. We can now go on walks without fear, and I've learned the skills and tools to confidently handle situations that used to feel overwhelming. Makenzie also trained Molly for off-leash freedom using an e-collar in a thoughtful, clear, and responsible way. Because of that training, I can safely give Molly more freedom while still knowing she's fully under control -- and she absolutely loves it. Another huge benefit is being able to board Molly with Makenzie when I'm out of town. Knowing she's staying in a home environment with someone I completely trust -- instead of a crowded boarding facility -- gives me so much peace of mind. The ongoing Saturday group classes are another big highlight. They make it clear this isn't just a one-time training -- it's continued support. We're always brushing up on skills, and it's been great connecting with other people who've gone through her program. It truly feels like a supportive community. Training with Makenzie has completely changed my life with Molly. I'm so grateful for the progress she's made and couldn't recommend her more.

We even decided to enroll in his weekly puppy class so that our puppy would learn to behave around other dogs. At risk of…read moresounding dramatic, she quite literally changed my life with my obnoxious adolescent Golden Retriever. My dog was horribly mouthy and unruly when we met Emily, and after a scarring experience with a different trainer in the area, my hope and faith were kinda down in the dumps. Emily, with her no-nonsense attitude and plethora of dog knowledge, left me with hope, homework and a multitude of things to ponder - Am I communicating clearly and fairly? Am I giving him everything he needs to be successful? A year and a half after our first session, Emily helped train the same (now less obnoxious) Golden Retriever on an e-collar so he could achieve full off-leash freedom. Emily has been, by far, one of the best investments I've made in my dog's life. I run a dog-walking company and refer my clients out to her and everyone is as amazed by her as I am. She answers all your questions about training for life, which is invaluable and puts on amazing events with other knowledgable trainers. She even organizes a free monthly pack walk where owners and their dogs can come learn to walk together in a neutral environment. My world with my dog opened up significantly since meeting Emily and we can't thank her enough.

During a training Emily took my dog which had a choker on walked it to another dog that barked at my dog then proceeded to choke my dog behind her back while using the leash as leverage over her shoulder. A group of 20 people watched this and thats when I was done. Emily you know what you did and you cant push the illusion you haven't done this. It was beyond inappropriate and could have lasting physical effects on the dogs. Up until this point you were pretty good with the dog but there was something "off" that day and it was taken out on my dog. Other people should know this.
