Rather than offering comfort or solutions, he made it clear he preferred we drop the dog on the street than bring it into their shelter. The entire interaction was rude, accusatory, and shockingly unhelpful. And get this--I didn't hear a single bark or meow while waiting. No animals visible, no life inside, just an empty, cold waiting area. This place prioritizes paperwork and skepticism over saving lives. It was so bad that I genuinely believe a homeless animal would have a better chance finding help out in the elements than through this "shelter." Their interrogation tactics do nothing but discourage well-intentioned people trying to do the right thing. If you find a stray, don't bring it here--you'll face attitude, suspicion, and maybe even be turned away.

They showed no empathy, just kept repeating how "she was fine on Saturday morning" We adopted her at 2 pm on Sunday. She was so happy, and then it just took a turn for the worse. They should have pet checkups before sending them home with.. she was on day 2-3 of being infected with parvo when we got her. Her belly was FULL of worms, The vet said if she had received the dewormers they listed on her "shot records" she wouldn't have had all the worms.. they said her birthdate was also a lie, they said she was about 15 weeks old the vet determined she was closed to 10 weeks. They didn't even bother to offer to return the adoption fee, to use towards her vet bills. DO NOT ADOPT FROM HERE AND AVOID THE HEARTBREAK WE WENT THROUGH!!!

The original dog on their website I was interested in was a full breed miniature long haired dachshund. But they said she'd been adopted. BUT she had puppies. Okay, so I went to the foster home. The puppy in question wasn't really a "puppy" anymore at 15 months old. And he wasn't really a long haired dachshund. I decided to take him anyway. East Dallas Pet Rescue charged me $400 for a dog they claimed was half dachshund (by virtue of his mother being a full breed miniature long haired dachshund). I had him DNA-tested. Turns out I have an adorable super mutt who is only 20% dachshund, the rest of his makeup is rat terrier (28%), chihuahua (23%), Yorkshire terrier (20%), and the rest is indeterminate and what they call Supermutt for remaining percent. I love him anyway but can't recommend the rescue. They told me he was fully vaccinated but couldn't even supply his rabies vaccine records.

They have trapped and neutered/spayed so many community cats in our neighborhood and surrounding…read morebusiness area, at least a couple hundred in the past 3 to 4 years. It was so out of control with kittens everywhere and DCL came out again and again. How they do this hard work and all of the heavy lifting of traps with cats, transporting them to vets super early in the morning, then pick them up again, keeping the cats safe until they can be released back to their homes is crazy dedicated. An all volunteer non-profit that tries to make a dent in the cat over-population in Dallas county. I know volunteers use a lot of their own money for supplies, cat food and their own gas for transporting. They also take in tiny kittens and stay up all night to feed them until they can be adopted so that is hard work for 8 weeks minimum. I've seen their setups at Petcos where volunteers get friendly cats adopted, but there are more cats than adopters these days. Sterilize your pets and don't let them loose. Bless all of the people trying to help especially DCL.
