About an hour away from reaching Arzúa, we decided to have a pit stop here at Ribadiso. It's a small village along the Camino and a brief respite here will allow us to go straight to our accommodation for the night and rest our weary bodies upon reaching the town.
Mesón Ribadiso is a beer garden as can be seen on the entrance sign. So three of us had beer, three had sangria, and I had my orange juice - Salud! Aside from those, we had multiple orders of Pulpo (octopus), Calamari (squid), and Vieiras Al Horno (scallop).
In Galicia, olive oil, salt, and paprika go a long way. Every pulpo dish we've had throughout our pilgrimage was excellent including the octopus here. The squid was lightly breaded, seasoned well, and deep fried. The scallops were baked perfectly and had a light pesto flavor. Just like every other half-shell scallops we've had in this province, the crescent-shaped side muscle was still attached which I personally preferred. We did not fill ourselves to the brim by choice as we still had some walking to do, but we enjoyed the food.
The restaurant is a big place with plenty of tables both inside and outside. It's a nice location and can serve a big number of pilgrims. We had no issues with the service unlike the negative experiences posted in other review sites. read more
