Definitely good quality seafood here. Waiter was a bit rude to us in the beginning. This was one of our most expensive lunches. The squid was recommended but I guess it wasn't on the menu. I didn't ask for the price thinking it would be around 10-20 like other things on their menu but it was $30. Very expensive. It was good and a big portion but I wouldn't have gotten that for that price. It was a little too salty and garlicky even though I did like it. My mouth was so dry for the rest of the day. Also had mackerel which is a strong fish but they paired it with a sauce and some picketed vegetables and it was good. The wine was local and I think only 3 euros a glass. Overall it was an okay experience and a bit over priced. It is cool they use ingredients from the market next door.

Prior to my trip to Galician in Santiago de Compostela, I had made reservations for dinner at Abastos 2.0 two months in advance. The restaurant is located by the popular food market. This restaurant offers new dishes daily from the market's offerings, with an emphasis on seafood. The restaurant has an indoor and outdoor seating. The inside seating consists of one long twelve (12) seat table where we sat for dinner. There several options that one can choose from the menu such as individual plate's medium and large tasting menu. We chose the large tasting menu/ The tasting menu was remarkable and at one point we felt it was never going to end. The tasting menu included inventive dishes such as scallop's, razor clams, cherry clam's, steak tartare, octopus, mackerel fish and others dishes I just don't remember. The photographs I have included with this review are photos' of all but one dish. Except for the razor clams that I was not my favorite, all of the other plates were delicious. Overall it was a magnificent dining experience. I highly recommend making reservations in advance. It's a popular eatery.

I have to admit we were almost going to leave this place! If it were not for Francisco, we would have.... glad he is there! I would love to have someone like him working with me.... he actually made a good part of the Abastos experience.... then came the rest of the team to reinforce what he was predicting.... from the serving of my beers to preparing the dishes, everything was top notch.. we had fresh plates from what they could get in the market that day.... so, our turn was, raw salmonete (fish) very delicate and for me a Chateaux plate.... incredible! We had to order another one!!!! We had their bonito tatare that was also quite good.... and the piquillo peppers... awesome, those on the house. We had the empanada gallega with amberjack, very good and tasty.... you can really tell this is fine cuisine in a tapas environment...... my wife had the merluza which is a white fish that was also chateaux style! Wow! I ate octopus thus afternoon so I was hesitant to ask for their grilled dish... well, glad I did! Totally different from the traditional Gallego style and super tasty.... then coming back and forth with Francisco who was incredible, we arrived at the deserts... we had a type of canolli with cream inside that was awesome... the dough tasted like spanish polvoron!! And before that they presented an apple confit Maserated with herbs that was ... well, have never had anything like this... we had more ordered and the chef even offered-more as a courtesy! The place is super small, no real tables... stools in the middle of the street and a large rectangular table inside for everyone to share... clean, And located in the middle of the old town where there are only walking streets... Will recommend NOT to be missed.... Congrats to the whole team...

My favorite food trend - elevated local cuisine in a casual setting. This restaurant sits in the farmers market and sources its daily menu onsite at the farmers market. Everything we had was so amazing - I never knew razor clams could taste sweet, juicy and crunchy!!! I die. This place is worth visiting if you're in Santiago.

Great restaurant, fully recommend it. We arrived and parked just down the hill, 5 minute walk and were sat down and eating within half an hour... Good contemporary twist on Tapas...

I was so glad I decided to go to this place even with the horrible weather that day. Like many suggested, I tried the tasting menu which was 21 euros and I also had an additional desert. All the meals were so creative and extremely tasty, the customer service was one of the best I've encountered, the servers were all friendly and attentive. Definitely worth a visit.

Best grilled octopus we had in Santiago de Compostela. Right in middle of the market, but inside feels far away. Highly recommend.

We were in raincoats and Gortex shoes, but they could only do so much. We all broke down in tears when we made the turn from Arco de Palacio to Plaza del Obradoiro because there it was, the archcathedral, standing gallantly on our left. We hugged each other, said a prayer, took some photos, got our compostela (certificate), and then looked for a place to eat. From the plaza, we headed down Rúa do Franco and landed at A Taberna do Bispo. There was a long wait to seat our party of seven together, so we ended up on two tables. Champiñones A La Plancha - These griddled button mushrooms were the perfect way to get our veggies in. Boquerones En Vinagre - These were the herbiest anchovies we had during our camino. They were served with green and purple olives. Calamarcitos A La Plancha - Just like the mushrooms and anchovies, these grilled baby squids were served in olive oil with herbs. They were very tender and tasty. Mejillones - We finally got steamed mussels done properly. So much better than the ones we had at Sarria. Solomillo De Terneira Montaditos - These veal tenderloins were awesome. Perfectly seared medium-rare, each was served on bread and topped with shishito pepper. Vieira A La Plancha Con Langostinos - Lovely to look at, heaven to eat - that's how to best describe this dish! Each half-shell scallop had two plump prawns and they were grilled and drizzled with the same olive oil concoction they used in the other dishes. So delicious! The restaurant was elegant-looking and had the vibe of a tourist trap, but we did not regret going here. There were other items on the menu that we could have tried, but we simply would not have been able to finish if we did. Our server was very friendly and had plenty of recommendations, one of which was the scallop. We were so glad we ordered them!

We ordered cold bottled beers, which were refreshing after the long day, ham, and of course, we had to try the octopus. It was tender and flavorful--definitely a highlight of the meal! The ambiance was lively, and the service was prompt, though it got a bit crowded as the afternoon went on. Overall, a great place to experience local flavors in a bustling atmosphere. I'd gladly return!

However, we got in line like everyone else and waited our nearly an hour wait turn. Mind you, you wait near the bar, so it's not a problem to try a couple local beers... A las, we were seated and waited on promptly. The place was nonstop hustle in every direction. Usually a good sign, no? Steak it is... "was," along with grilled rabbit, and the winner of the evening (in my humble opinion), grilled octopus. Flavorful, tender, delicious! Was it worth the wait? Debatable, but we were generally pleased and would probably return again, and so should you. Prost!

Had a different experience for someone posted 5 years ago…read more My group of 8 people enjoyed our lunch. We were lucky enough to be able to get a seat by the bar by the grill. We saw the action in the kitchen. Our host spoke good English to help us order. The place was pack. After our lunch, my whole group mention it was a great meal. We have been eating from low end restaurants in a Porto and Lisbon to two star Michelin with Belcanto. Service was quick. We got our Montaditos quickly. Montaditos is a unique tapa-sized rolls of bread similar to a baguette but wider and with a twist. The shrimp and avocado was delicious and refreshing. The chorizo was flavorful. Jamon was savory. The octopus is cooked perfectly with Galician seasoning of pepper and paprika. The sauce soaked thru the potatoes. The fried potatoes is so good. Our steak was cooked to our desired meat temperature and didn't need much to season it. Scallop was delicious and grilled perfectly. Make sure you have room for cocktails or beer. Loved our dessert selection of coconut and ginger ice cream, as well as the Fresca queso with pineapple- not sweet and great twist for Spanish cheesecake. The restaurant was clean. Restrooms are clean. Good is reasonable price.
