While we waited for the pizza the owner brought two dishes to pick from, the Spanish tortilla was delicious and the skewer of fruit was fresh and appetizing. Our pizza arrived and it was a wonderful homemade delicia. We had a relaxing time. The owner was most gracious and hospitable. She told us the business had just opened. The service and quality was that of a well-established restaurant. Best of luck or as they would say in Spanish "Buena Suerte" Next time we are in Lugo we will visit El Refugio again.

Short review: Phenomenal food, atmosphere and service; everything was first class and we had a…read moretruly memorable evening meal with absolutely no complaints about a single thing. We are American travelers and were staying with in-laws near Viveiro. 8 of us were on our way back from Ourense and stopped in Lugo to break up the long drive. I thought we would have a quick drink and some light fare and get on the road. My brother-in-law made a quick reservation and we found Campos. We had gone to the thermal hot springs in Ourense and a few of us were dressed in jeans; I was in a heavy black hooded sweatshirt. We later recalled feeling uncomfortable to realize that we were in such a fancy place, where everyone else was clearly dressed for fine dining, and I was a little shocked by the prices. By the end of coffee and dessert we had spent nearly 400€ with only one bottle of wine. But if you are used to spending like that, or if this is a reach but you want a special meal, we highly recommend Campos. The wait staff were utterly professional, warm and slightly reserved. The room was beautiful and tastefully decorated, with lovely lighting, bright enough yet not overbearing. Our meals and desserts were served on very lovely handmade pottery (modern, not rustic). All of our food was magnificent and the desserts were also very special. We are grateful to the wait staff who made our evening so special!

We had a much more enthusiastic welcome at El Bule which had a 4.3 rating in Google. Yelp is almost non-existent in remote places especially outside the US, but if there's a Yelper out there that will be on the Camino path in the future, then I'm hoping this will help... Tomate Con Queso Cremoso - We have seen these huge tomatoes but never paid enough attention to them. We were glad to have finally tried them at the end of our penultimate leg as these were very appetizing - juicy and sweet! The cream cheese was the perfect complement and went well with the bread, too. Boquerones En Vinagre - These anchovies were very much as great as the ones we've had along the trail. Vinegar, olive oil, garlic, and parsley go a long way! Arroz Negro Con Chipirones Y Berbechos - Squid ink paella with small squids and clams (cockles, to be specific). The aroma from the squid was fantastic, yet the flavor was not overpowering. Evenly cooked in a shallow paella pan, this was very enjoyable. Arroz Marinero Con Zamburiñas, Langostinos, Y Berbechos - This seafood paella had a richer and bolder taste, but it was cooked in a deeper pan so it did not give out much socarrat. Picaña De Vaca - The sirloin steak was perfectly seared medium-rare, sliced, served on a sizzling plate, and sprinkled with coarse salt. The meat was tender and yummy. I loved the char from both the grill and the plate. Zamburiñas A La Plancha - We've had our fair share of delicious scallops so far and these were just OK. They were fresh and lightly seasoned but that's about it. We walked in the rain during the latter part of the day and the forecast called for more rain as we headed into the homestretch. It was a very emotional day for us as we saw the hostel where our dear friend passed when she did the pilgrimage two years ago. She was an important piece of why we were all here. This one's for you, Jean!
