Friendly service. Quality resale items for the home and garden. Reasonable prices, too.

We just so happened to eat at the restaurant part of the Lucy Goose Market on their opening day…read morebecause we were staying at an AirBnB next door and we were glad we did. The food was especially satisfying after a long road trip of eating nothing but gas station junk food, it reminded me of a good solid meal that my grandma would make. The inside of the market is full of interesting stuff and keeps your eyes busy while eating, I really liked the eclectic collection of tables/chairs that you eat at. The waitstaff was really nice and helpful, too, giving recommendations on places to go to watch the sunset and bringing over some water for our dog while we ate. If you're looking for a cute and quirky small town diner with tasty comfort food, this is your place.

So, after working up a good appetite at the gym this Saturday morning, I met up with my mom and we headed to Freeport. Let me just tell you, this place is a gem and worth a road trip if you don't live in the area. People who visit the area should put this place on their to do list, and if you live locally you will want to visit often. When we arrived in downtown Freeport the Lucy Goose was easy to find and free street parking is plentiful! There are patio tables out front that sets the stage for the flair of the store and restaurant. When we walked in, we were greeted by the owners who are still hard at work making this store all it can be and more. The store is a nice blend of old and new, with clothes, jewelry, glassware, linens, furniture. There are items you will want for yourself and wonderful gift opportunities as well. At the back of this space you will find ROC's, where delicious treats await!!! At this time they are serving soups, salads, sandwiches and desserts. They do have lite, continental breakfast options as well. This venue is so new that the kitchen is still being built. Once finished there are plans for a full menu and dinner hours. I look forward to watching this place blossom! You have my business

I was sharing my finds at an Antique Store in Houston with a fellow employee. The employee…read moresuggested I visit the Antique Warehouse on 25th Street in Galveston, Texas. I had just gotten off work at 2 pm on Wednesday. I made two stops before I arrived at the warehouse. I was disappointed when I read the hours listed on the door and the sign said closed. As I was walking back to my vehicle I heard a loud banging on the door from the inside. A man opened the door and invited me inside. I told him I thought they were closed. The man said you can come on inside and take a look around. The man's name was Scotty, and he was the owner of the place. Let me tell you this, Scotty gave me the tour of a lifetime. Scotty was helping a gentleman who had recently bought a church in Galveston, and he was converting it to a wedding chapel. We talked about St. Patrick's Catholic School. A school I attended as a child and what a shame it was that it was going to be demolished soon. The conversation took a dramatic turn when Scotty asked me if I had heard of the movie The Green Book? I said yes, but I hadn't watched it. He said neither did I, but do you know what a Green Book was? I said yes, I do it was a book that listed where Black People could eat and sleep during times of segregation in the South. He said correct, and then he asked whether I knew I was standing in a place listed on the Green Book. I told him no, and then he said well follow me. I followed him excitedly like a little kid. I don't want to give too much away but let me just say this: Scotty took me on a million-dollar tour that involved stories of Orphans, The Roaring 20's, World War 2, Brothels, Speakeasys, Peep Shows, Movie Theatres, Ghost Stories, and more. So, I would suggest that if you have time visit Mr. Scotty at the Antique Warehouse located at 423 25th Street. Galveston, Texas, and tell him Malcolm, who works for Galveston County, sent you. Regular hours are 11 am -3pm on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Don't forget to ask about a tour of the place. I promise you won't be disappointed. I'm a Galveston Native and I had never heard the stories he shared with me, and I've lived or worked in Galveston my entire life.

I'd gone over for a quick run through, looking for nothing in particular. 2 items that intrigued me were Christmas items, one downstairs, one upstairs. I gave him the untagged ornament and he was friendly enough and said he would get me a price **half the ornaments in the bowl were not priced. The priced ornamenta were between $6 & $12. So I make my way upstairs, in the large room I find a gumball machine with a Christmas scene inside the globe....no tag. I walk it downstairs to find Jeff for a price and he gave me "a look" and said he knows it was priced because he took it up there yesterday...walks away in a "huff", rather angry manner. He gave me the feeling that he had just accused me of taking the price off. I did NOT! I literally frequent the place quite often and he knows me.....why would I do that. At the register he gave me the price of the gumball machine. Honestly...I wouldn't have bought it for any price at this point. I often go to Downtown Rosenberg for a couple hours when I need a break **I live 5 miles away**. I'm not sure when/if I'll return to Red Queen's Attic and I certainly will never recommend the shop to another person **which I've done so many times in the past** Thrifting/Antiquing is a "break" for me....something I love doing,. On this day, Jeff took that from me.
