You can feel their warmth and kindness within seconds of meeting them. They went above and beyond anything I could have ever asked for. They allowed me to come the night before my wedding and take over the entire bar area to get as much set up as possible. They helped with the entire set up process, and even allowed me to borrow one of their tents to block access to a certain area...they even set it up for us and added lights to make it look beautiful. The day of the wedding, they helped some of the wedding party to get everything into the correct areas and looking beautiful. Deena saved the day by making sure the alter looked amazing when the groom and groomsmen ran out of time. Overall, they provided a wonderful, relaxed wedding experience and attempted to make the day as calm as possible. I would 100% recommend having your wedding or your next event there. But what makes Valhalla really stand out from the rest, is their in Äbelskivers (common spelling). They're basically little pancake balls, which you can get with a variety of jellies and powdered sugar. I like all the jellies and apple butter, with powdered sugar on top of the jellies. They're really outstanding. My two favorite dishes that I tend to switch between each time I visit are their Chicken Fried Steak and eggs, which is always delicious, and the Rande Omelette, named for the founding owner's husband. My family all have their favorites, like The Danish Breakfast, whilst some just simply order the (5) Äbelskivers, by themselves. The staff is always friendly, the restaurant and bathrooms are always clean, and the service is always fast. Valhalla also has a gift shop with lots of great items to peruse whilst you wait for a table (which usually doesn't take long), or after you've enjoyed your meal. They have a couple of different rooms for dining. One where you can have the room all to yourself if you have a large party, and another that used to be the (kids) "Train room". This room had a little Thomas the train and little toys and activities like felt boards and whatnot to keep kiddos entertained. My kiddos are grown, so I don't know if they still have that room set up for families with small kids or not, but it is a separate room off from the main dining area. There are two 1-seater bathrooms, off of the main dining area, and another bathroom closer to the entry/gift shop area. There is a small parking lot, but if that is full, you can usually find parking on the street out front, or there are a couple of free parking lots nearby. If you've never been to Valhalla Restaurant, in Visalia, you should absolutely check it out, for a unique and delicious breakfast experience. Oh, and they close at 2 PM, so breakfast and lunch only.

Jonathan was there all day and truly worked his butt off--he impressed all of us. Bernice's customer service is top tier. The rooms are always clean, the Elderwood is an ice touch, and the vibe is always fun. During this trip, all was fine when what sounded like the HVAC system above our room started to knock. It's an old historic building so, things happen. The knocking though quickly turned into a roar. We contacted the front desk and this is where the true professionalism of the hotel crew, and particularly Maria, shined through. Maria quickly came upstairs, assessed the situation, triaged with other teams inside the hotel, and identified a solution within 20 minutes. Given the scope of the repair was unclear at the time, she moved us to another room and even upgraded us (even though she didn't have to!) for the inconvenience. Things happen, that's not an issue for us, it's how the team addresses them when they come up. The Darling team rose to the occasion with flying colors so seamlessly in this situation, especially Maria. So for us, just underscores a series of positive experiences at the hotel. This isn't an ultra luxury 5-star hotel, so don't come here expecting that. But it's a great place to stay in Visalia with a premium, boutique vibe, great restaurant, and clean well apportioned rooms. We will be back.

We were originally going to have the ceremony outdoor at our uncles house, but it actually did rain on our wedding day and the day before, and the manager of the memorial building, Nancy, contacted the pastor of the Presbyterian Church next door for me and we were able to move our ceremony to the church last minute -- which was gorgeous. Nancy was unbelievably helpful through the entire process! Tyler was also very nice and helpful. The windows of the hall made a gorgeous view during dinner. The rain stopped early in the day and we were able to roll up the two giant doors to the amazing outdoor patio and danced all night! The hall in itself is beautiful for just being a "hall" and with some fairy lights and some other decor, it looked just as good as all the other overpriced venues -- most of which do not have an entire wall that rolls up to form the unique indoor/outdoor space. We are so thrilled to have been married in the wonderful town of Three Rivers, and we will be back every year!
