So I finally requested service, I requested no more than two people at a time. Snap, crackle and pop +1/2 showed up immediately starting I guess complaining in another language. I showed one lady the cleaned sheets and how I like them on my mattress. " I only do top sheets " in my mind I'm like " WTF LADY s?!&@". Anything else I asked her, she looked at me like a deer in headlights . Some serious communication training lacking in this department. Then to make matters worse, the manager called... long story short, I didn't get cleaned yesterday. *WARNING BAIT AND SWITCH. Their advertisement DOES NOT MATCH THE EFFORT. The quality of the office does not match the work. I would not recommend, even though I was really looking forward to it. *This service would be perfect if you had a summer home that everything was left in its place, but had an inch of dust. *I was offered one price, and a month later it was almost triple the price. That was my first turn off. I finally got the price I originally wanted was offered. Evelyn a manager in the office was trying to be impressive with her saleswoman skills and over charge at the get-go. Then the back and forth with the "Manager/owner" I like to promote locally, but I also like fair pricing. I shouldn't have to put my foot down, just two ladies coming to an agreement. This review is for Stef at the Worcester branch. She has been the cleaner of the St. Anthony Resort for a while know. I call her my favorite lady. Stef cleans methods are the same as what I would do, if I was doing it myself. She takes her time and gets the job done right the first time. Over the years, I have had many different cleaners from different cleaning companies, however, Stef does not even rate near the others, she gets an A+ in my eyes. If I have a special request, dust under the bureaus as you can see the dust from the other side of the room, I have never seen dust again. My dad made my kitchen table, she knows how special it is and she takes the extra few minutes to make sure it shines every time she is at the house. I could go on and on, as she is the best. I have used Merry Maids in the past in a different location with much success so I decided to give them a try in my current location of Waltham. Boy was I wrong! There is a good reason why they have such high turnover in their management office. They are very unfriendly. Not punctual at all. Speak to you very condecendingly when on the phone. And frankly, it is better described as speak "at you" condecendingly. Let's face it, extremely over priced for the quality of the clean provided. I recently found myself in an emergency work situation requiring for me to travel for a number of days and didn't have the chance to set foot in my condo between cleanings. My priority was my work responsibility and the thought of a cleaning person coming to my condo was the fartherest thing from my mind. When they called to remind me of the cleaning occuring the next day, they were extremely inflexible and explained that they require 48 hours notice to cancel or reschedule a scheduled cleaning. They said the call they were making was for information purposes only and not a call to confirm my appointment so they sent someone to clean my place anyway. I was then charged $87 for a cleaning lady to go to my condo and clean a place that she was the last person to step foot in. If she spent any time cleaning it a second time at all, then she did a terrible job cleaning it the first time! I respect that they have a business to run however they will continue to lose business by way of word of mouth, poor Yelp reviews, and self inflicted wounds they inflict that continue to damage themselves with respect to lack of friendliness, non-existent common courtesy, inflexibility, and inability treating and talking "TO" the customer with respect. read more

Solid four stars for this cleaning service. They are a franchise, but they are part of Servicemaster. The price depends on the size of your home and what you need done, I am paying $159 for bi-weekly. I got several estimates and they were the only company to walk through my home and talk to me about exactly what I needed before giving me an estimate. The only cheaper option for me would be to hire an individual, but then you don't have the guarantees and employee verification. They do the basics, so your house will look clean when they are finished. Nice touches: they empty trash bins and change sheets. I have a lot of mirrors in my home, including some mirrored closet doors, and they do a great job with them, not a smudge or fingerprint when they are finished. Caveats: they are not perfect with the less obvious things, for example, they don't always vacuum under my cushions and get all the dust out of every corner. You have to let the company know when you notice that. They will not move furniture to clean under or behind it (except for small light things), or clean electronics. I imagine they don't want to be responsible for the consequences if they accidentally tap a touch screen or push an on- or off- button. Also if you leave piles of papers or knickknacks around, there's a limit to how much they can realistically dust, so you will get better results if you pick up or stack your clutter before they come. I also put away a couple of small, fragile older rugs the night before, because they could not promise me that the cleaners would avoid vacuuming and damaging the fringes. I do those very carefully myself. They will do non-routine services (cleaning out refrigerators, windows, etc), for a price, but I am not sure I would hire them for that, because you have to communicate with the company, and then the company communicates to the individual cleaners, so there's a lot of room for miscommunication. My need is for routine cleaning and I am happy with that service. read more

We had heard about this company from a friend who was thrilled with her results. We booked them for a deep clean, basically a top to bottom scrub. Admittedly, we were not super impressed initially. The company took this very personally and offered a reclean, a refund... they very clearly pride themselves on the services they provide and wanted to set things right. The team just left and I am ECSTATIC! There is no dust or pet hair to be found anywhere, my windows are spotless, everything looks great. The women who came were very nice as well, great personalities, sweet to my dogs, and refused to pack up until I promised I was satisfied. They have more than redeemed themselves in my eyes from our first attempt, I will absolutely use them again! read more

Merry Maids was a major disappointment. I guess I should have noticed it's the maids who are merry, not the customers. The lady was 30 minutes late, gave no apology for her tardiness, and when she arrived made it clear she was in a hurry and had no time for instructions or chit chat (no doubt because she was running late). She missed a lot of details, left a powdery residue on everything, and even asked my husband to wipe down the top of the refrigerator for her becaus she couldn't reach it (and I guess didn't want to go to the trouble of getting on the available step stool). If this had been a $50 clean I might have accepted it, but it was the $135 first time "deep clean." Definitely not recommended unless you like getting ripped off. read more

I signed the year long contract, thinking what a great value this would be for my wife (She works a lot, and I am messy). Extremely dissapointed continually with the cleanings we have received. I have called multiple times to express my individual concerns, and they have never been rectified. My wife even put marker on the mirrors, checked the fans, and put stuff under the bed, only to see they have never been cleaned. I know this is a lot of effort to see you aren't getting any value, but at 108 dollars a week you would think they would try to make us satisfied. read more

When you are on the phone with them receiving your quote, they assure you how meticulous they are in their cleaning - NOT! I hired them to prepare for my home for my family holiday celebration and will have to spend the day cleaning it myself - a real cleaning!!!!!!!!!! I have been the "pain in the butt" customer that shuffles schedules and has the occasional special request. The team at Merry Maids are quick to accommodate. They go "beyond the call", but getting to the basics, they do an outstanding job on the routine cleanings. It is refreshing to walk into my home after the visit. To secure a schedule I have to pay a deposit, 50% of price estimation. But price will raise if they think your house is dirtier than expected. I simply ask a question to them, what if the maids see my house and simply wants to me to pay 10000$ extra for work? Should I pay or not? This is very unfair situation because the maids can give me a higher price quote than it actually worth, since if I don't agree with their new price quote I will lose my deposit. Never use Merry Maids. We called Merry Maids to clean a small bathroom in our home. We were specific about what we wanted done, i.e., clean the grout between the tiles on the floor and in shower, clean tiles, clean toilet, clean sink, clean medicine cabinet. We even left brushes and cleaning supplies so that the grout could be done easily. The maid was in the small bathroom for 3 HOURS (!!) and when I got home that afternoon, the tiles and grout were not cleaned anywhere in the bathroom (not even sort of), the toilet was clean on the outside but not the inside, the fixtures in the sink, shower and medicine cabinet had mildew all over. The maid didn't even empty the waste basket. Need I say more? Strangely, the maid left all her cleaning supplies and some equipment at our house. I keep wondering what that maid was doing for 3 hours when all she was supposed to do was clean the bathroom. I took pictures of the bathroom as the maid left it and sent them to the Merry Maid office in Waltham MA. They were very defensive and claimed there was some "miscommunication." Hmmm. I ended up cleaning the bathroom floor tile and grout today myself - got it perfectly clean in about 40 minutes. So glad I didn't hire Merry Maids to clean my entire house! read more

We love our Merry Maids team!! Our house is always clean and airy now and that is with cleaning every 2 weeks. The team is friendly, punctual, fast, efficient, thorough and professional. They are also super sweet to our little dog. I look forward to every Friday since the house smells wonderful and everything is in its place and clean.
