One would have to assume they walked in, looked around and said to themselves "looks clean to me, free money" and walked out. Nothing was cleaned from what we could tell and they charged us the full service fees. We paid for stove/oven and refrigerator cleaning as well. The office from Lake Stevens is the absolute worst. At first the woman that came in to give me an estimate was really nice and professional she quoted me $320 for twice a month on my house cleaning. The first clean was a deep clean which was great. There were a few issues with communication I guess, I had asked the ladies cleaning to not ring the doorbell since there were people sleeping still, and the door would be unlocked for them to enter; they didn't understand my instructions, I guess. I had also asked them to leave the rooms with the door closed for last since there were people still sleeping and they were getting out of bed. Also didn't listen. I was happy with the first deep clean they did. The following cleaning was awful. 1. When I let the women in through the door they were carrying their vacuums and cleaning supplies up the stairs (and this isn't a small narrow house at all) hitting the walls very carelessly leaving marks on my walls. 2. My bookshelf was still very dusty. 3. They did not vacuum my closet. 4. When they vacuumed one of the rooms in the house (which we usually keep the door closed) that room smelled like a wet dog. Which by the way we don't own any dogs. We have one small cat and hes not allowed in there (hence why the door is always kept closed). They obviously did not care to clean out their filter in their vacuum or even empty it out before cleaning the next house. 5. When I looked at my bank statement I had also realized they had charged me $360 rather than the $320 I was quoted. Even with tax the $360 I was charged does not make sense. The house is a brand new 2,00 sq ft house. There is no reason for my house to smell like a wet dog or for the employees to so carelessly dent my walls. I cancelled their services and now their threatening to send me to collections if I don't pay their $270 cleaning. It's a little unfair specially since I have already contacted them about why I cancelled and haven't heard back. Anyway I ended up hiring someone independently and she's awesome. I would never go with another company due to this rip-off experience. read more

Their service has declined exponentially since we entered into a contract several months ago. Boy, what a regret this has been. We have had a revolving door of house cleaners. They are not thorough at all. They leave our bathroom sinks with toothpaste still in the drain, they don't dust our blinds or wipe down window sills, and they routinely forget to empty various trash cans through out the house. The cleanliness is totally inconsistent. Today's cleaning really pissed me off- I had forgotten today was our day, which is no big deal because they let themselves in through our back door. However, they did not exit out the same way they came in, leaving our front door unlocked. Furthermore, they did not shut our gate and our dog escaped. When I walked in the house today I actually couldn't tell the house had been cleaned on our first floor. It wasn't until I noticed the stairs had been vacuumed that I realized they had been here. But what really pissed me off is seeing that they made my bed and put dirty sheets that had been recently been soiled by my daughter back on our bed. They have NEVER changed our sheets with the exception of one time when I clearly left the folded sheets to be used on the bed. Why would they take crumpled up sheets in a laundry hamper and put them on the bed when they have never done that before? The LAST thing I want to do after a grueling work day and long commute home is change my sheets AGAIN. I thought Merry Maids was supposed to be a service that helped, not caused me more work. I cannot wait for our contract to be over in a few more months. Update- I was contacted by Merry Maids today to address the issues we've had. After discussing it with Allie, we will see how the service progresses. My frustration has been alleviated a bit by the call. I'm changing my rating to 2 stars from 1 star due to them reaching out and trying to remedy the problem. I will update again in a few months. read more

I was parked next to your business vehicle. The person the car belonged to came out of Planet fitness, made eye contact with me while smiling, then slammed open her rear door into my car, wtf? She then slammed open her front door into my car as she got in! I was parked properly, both our cars were within the lines. I honestly don't know what her problem was. One room they did well in, the other two they didn't bother sweeping or mopping, dog hair still out, dirty counters, dirty walls, I've had more cleaning done in an hour for $120 by a husband and wife working out of their car. I called to notify the office of what I was left with and they said they couldn't do anything but maybe a $50 refund. I will never use them again, literally the cheap Craigslist cleaners do a better job and actually walk you through the house before they ask for your money. Merry Maids in Lake Stevens has been providing cleaning services for our family for over 18 months now. They have consistently provided an excellent cleaning service. The timings have almost always been spot on. The only times that the timing has not been perfect have been when we have requested a change to the schedule that is difficult to meet, and that Merry Maids have themselves advised to us would be problematic. In several cases, their friendly cleaning staffs have cleaned extra areas of our home at no additional charge. Being able to have this service is a huge benefit to us with small toddlers that demand constant attention. We highly recommend this service. read more

I hired merry maids to clean my house that was completely empty for my new tenants to move in. I was guaranteed a complete job for the price of $350 upfront and told it would be cleaned top to bottom and when I had asked specifically about the window jams and heater vents that those would be cleaned as well and dusted. When returning to my home there was still cob webs on the ceilings in corners and on light fixtures there was a dog bone in the corner of the living room covered in dust bunnies and heater vents could be wiped cleaned of dust with a hand as well as gooey dirt be wiped from the floor. I called them back and they returned to the home to reclean and still when I came back and my tenants were hours from moving in I had to mop all of the floors and open up the windows and clean the insides of the window jams, dust the lights and wipe off my bathroom fans from clumps of dust. When you pay for a complete job and do not have the time to go through and do it all over again this is really terrible. High priced for low quality job and I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND. read more

Nope, wouldn't do it again. My wife's partially disabled, and I broke my leg, making it nearly impossible to stay on top of the daily cleaning. I could have done the job of the two maids with my one leg in a cast. They showed up 2 hours late. One of them split her pants on a previous job, but no one called to "reach out" as they put it after I called to ask where they were. We paid $280 up front, which was debited to my credit union account two days prior to the start of service. I'm not a piker, this was no big deal. In fact, I tipped each of the maids $20 each prior to inspecting their service. We and the cats just wanted to retire to the bedroom and stay out of their way while they finished the job, telling them to let themselves out when they were done. When calling, my wife had expressed specifically that we had a spare refrigerator that needed a good cleaning. The fridge turned out great, as one of them spent about an hour on it while the other spent that time and more on vacuuming and cleaning the bathrooms. Speaking of vacuuming and cleaning the bathrooms, neither was done with much attention to detail. The toilets were somewhat clean, but the sinks had that pink shit left around the drains, so no real scrubbing was done. Under and around the bed, the vacuuming did not reach, despite the fact that the base of the bed only overhangs the floor by 8 inches, not all the way under the mattress. Later, I discovered around the house there was not a lot of detailed vacuuming. They didn't bother to even lift up the edges of throw rugs to get at the hardwood flooring. They changed the sheets as requested. But, the fitted bottom sheets came undone at the corners after two days. We had requested in the initial call that they use our Bona cleaning liquid and mop on our laminate floors, and I pointed out the spray and mop upon their arrival. They instead used some kind of shit that left a filmy residue. A followup questionnaire followed via e-mail, which I filled out in detail. Their office called a couple days later and said they had received an "inquiry" about their service. That wasn't any inquiry, it was a complaint about service not rendered. Like I said, I would never do it again, and I recommend you keep searching for a quality provider of maid service before getting hosed out of $320 for a one time "thorough" cleaning. read more

Run as fast as you can. The person that came to give an estimate was so sweet and professional I felt confident signing up for a years' service. The very first time they came they sent a team of all apparently new people who had no idea what they were doing, were there for half the day, did a mediocre job, and on top of that someone pocketed a makeup item from my bathroom. I used them for two more cleanings (hoping that perhaps I'd just misplaced the item). When the missing item never reappeared and after two more unprofessional, subpar cleanings I was SO ready to break the contract. The woman on the phone reminded me that I'd need to pay to get out of the contract (they have some stupid way of explaining it but ultimately you need to give them a bunch of money to leave). The dollar amount given to me over the phone was not the same as what was on my contract so basically I was surprised when I got the bill and was left paying a small fortune to stop using their crappy service. Lesson learned: I will NEVER get into a contract with a business like this again, and certainly if I do I will look it over much closer (this was admittedly my mistake, I do have two small kids and a small business and made a rushed decision). Based upon great service that I received in a different city, I hired Merry Maids and signed a 24-month contract for service. This franchise, however, was not able to provide quality service, leaving cobwebs high on the walls and spots on the mirrors. It was hard to tell if they vacuumed everywhere. They refused to empty the trash because we have an insulin-dependent diabetic in the house (an OSHA rule that they didn't tell me about before signing the contract). What this meant was paying $500 per month for them to come and (incompletely) rinse out the sinks and bathtub. Not worth the time or the money. The final insult was being charged $480 to cancel their fraudulent contract. It seems that because they have you locked into a contract, Merry Maids feels that they can give you poor quality work and get away with it. I've used Merry Maids for years. Especially for rental clean-outs and moves. I also use their weekly service is my personal home. As the owner of a busy service business myself, I just can't do it all anymore. I toyed with hiring a secretary, but then realized what I really wanted was someone to help me with my least favorite chores around the house. I would have given Merry Maids ZERO stars, but this review would not allow me to post unless I rated them. They quoted me over $600 for an 'initial' visit, even though I told them that I currently have my home cleaned WEEKLY, and have been for almost 2 years. It would not have needed so-called initial visit. I would have gladly paid the $400+ a month to have them clean my home, but that $600+ 'initial' visit is a rip off!! And when I questioned the amount for the initial visit, the gal said they would accept payment installments. LOL really??? WORST SERVICE EVER (stay away) They came to clean an empty house before the moving, they charged 3 hours, what did they do? Vacuum the carpets, NOTHING ELSE why? Everything seemed fairly clean when they arrived, so they didn't touch anything, as a result everything is covered in dust, the oven is dirty, lamps dust, Windows dust, bathroom. I set up an initial consultation for them to clean three rooms in the home we are selling. The person that set it up said the girl would be out at 4pm. My husband stayed at the home for 45 minutes before calling to ask where she was. They said she may have been stuck in traffic, lost, etc. and they would call her to find out what the hold up was. They were not able to reach her by phone, and rescheduled for the next afternoon. When this person showed up, she claimed the girl DID show up, we must have missed her and she stayed there waiting for 10 minutes. My husband was there the whole time.....she did not show up. She also had multiple questions regarding our move. "Why were we spending money to clean and paint If we were moving?" "Why are you moving?" And after finding out we were moving to a substantially larger home, she said "why such a big house!?!" Obviously, none of these questions had to do with cleaning my home. I felt very uncomfortable. Since then, I have had three calls from their office wanting to know if we would like to set up an appointment for the cleaning....an appointment we had already set earlier in the week. AVOID the MERRY MAIDS! They used to care about my business. I was a loyal customer for 3 years - but their service is now NOT GOOD. They will waste your time and money. They do NOT show up on time. They do NOT spend time cleaning - only a surface wipe-off in as little time as possible. My 3000 square foot home - 2 girls only worked 1.5 hours. The sales rep will go over an extensive list of duties, but DON'T BE FOOLED, the cleaning crew will NOT complete the tasks - they just want to get in & get out. I am furious! I spoke with the woman on the phone at the Snohomish location of Merry maids about a move out cleaning on my fathers one level 2,000 square-foot rambler. They initially quoted me $900 and I asked if we could budget that down they agreed to $600 and they were going to focus on the kitchen and the bathrooms and clean out all of the cupboards, and the refrigerator and the stove in the interior doors etc. as I had someone else taking care of the carpets and floors. They did none of that! None of the cupboards or shelves have been wiped down, the refrigerator was not cleaned the stove was not cleaned. They were here for 5 hours! What the hell were they doing?! I had a face to face meeting with a Lake Stevens Rep who sat down with me and arranged a date and specific time for arrival. My paperwork reflected this exact wording : Dont arrive until 3:30. My discussion with the Rep nailed down that time. I received a call at 9:04am stating they couldnt get access to the house... explained ofcourse, my appt was a 3:30. She stated it was not on the work order. I stopped off at the Merry Maids at 2pm to advise my appt was at 3:30 and I was home if they are able to come early, great, if not no problem. They explained already on job, but thanked me. At 4:15 nobody has arrived. I called to get status update. I was on hold for several min. and I was immediatly told that I had no access to my house and they tried several times. Again, stated I had a specific time for arrival. She argued with me that they do not make these kind of arrangements. I read to her what was told to me, what was written down. I had evening engagements and would NEVER have arranged for evening appt. Then she tells me, she is the one who came to my house and never said she makes appt. And the only exceptions that are made is if I wanted them out of my house by a certain time, those they make. Well, how amazing that I can not set arrival times but I could set "get out of my house" times. Who in their right mind would know this rule. The sales rep was extremely rude calling me a liar and yelling at me and talking over me and she told me my appt has been moved to the last appt of the day. I told her, that they are more than willing to come to the house be all friendly and accomodating but now that they have my money and I have no recourse, they are rude and do not care. I ended up hanging up on her. They are holding my $200 hostage and would bill me cancelation fees. Amazing that I am held to a contract but they are not. The gals who showed up at 6:20pm were really nice. I showed them my paperwork with her hand writing stating to arrive at 3:30. They were shocked and apologized and were embarassed. I spent $360.00 for 3 hours of cleaning service and let me tell you the cleaning was horrific. I was moving out of a townhouse and needed the kitchen and bath and a half cleaned plus vacuuming of the carpets. The cleaning that was done was terrible, missed areas and everything had streaks. The two ladies were friendly and nice but provided no value for my $360.00. I phoned Merry Maids the following day and they did state they would send out additional cleaners if I weren't happy. This was a moot issue since I spent the evening before cleaning up after these not so Merry Maids with one arm since I had just sprained my right one and was unable to use it. No intention or offering to refund some if not all of my $360.00. DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, you would be better off contracting two 7 year olds to do the cleaning, but then again we have labor laws....So please find another source for your cleaning!!! We've had Merry Maids clean our house for 14 months, every other week. They did a great first clean to get you hooked and to sign a contract. Unfortunately, they don't pay their employees enough and we had a revolving door of house cleaners and each time I would make a complaint and receive a credit. Despite what their contract states, they never wiped down my cupboards, they cleaned the shades but didn't clean the window sills, dusting was minimal and they RARELY ever cleaned the floors. We continually requested they vacuum the kitchen floor and use our steam mop for the hardwoods and bathroom floors. On our last clean a week ago I came home and it was clear my kitchen floor had not been vacuumed or mopped, none of my throw rugs had been moved or cleaned, and none of the bathroom floors were clean. I vacuumed and steam mopped myself and sent a picture of my steam mop pad to Merry Maids. I told them to please cancel our account and requested a credit for that specific clean. They told us since we were now "inactive" they could not credit us. Do not get yourself stuck into a year-long contract with them like we did. There are plenty of private cleaning services out there that will do a much better job and that are consistent and reliable. read more
