What Merry Maids is a household cleaning agency for superheroes, like Sparkle Cadet, but not literally, so they're just professionals. I've met so many qualified cleaners, like Kainalee, Sai, Kendall, and even an employee who also organizes the cleanings and quality control, Jadie. The manager, Debra, has reached out to me to check on the quality of her clearinghouse of cleaners, and I am left impressed. The day after Kainalee has mopped the floors, you know it's been twenty four hours. The day after Sai left the bathroom, you could see the typical stains return to their locations. The day after Kendall finished her assignment, I felt clean knowing they are grateful we ask for their help in the first place. It is a difficult and humble job to clean, just ask those birds who clean between the teeth of hippopotamus. However, I think Merry Maids and I know: we profit from setting the world straight to a client's needs, as it is innately rewarding. They can do more than mop and sweep of course, each room I've asked for cleaning will have a different cleaners agency and expertise applied. Kainalee organized the toys in my children's room, she and Sai set our bathrooms' shelves in order, and Jadie and Kendall left our play space ready to get messy. They can also organize, and maybe just any order is good to start from. Reading my review after any of the others, it makes me wonder what has happened in seven or eight years. The cleaners I've met usually arrived within a reasonable window of within the workday, if I don't get an early reschedule message in the day. There's no way cleaners can rush a job, you basically need their quote the day they arrive to review and start work. Get regular cleaning schedules instead to get peace of mind, as it will take one task off your shelf for a fair price. read more

Great place to work with! Great value and amazing owners who care about the customer!

Completely dissatisfied. Left my cleaners a tip and I think they left the house once they got that and I pulled out of the driveway. Manager gave me a 25% refund which honestly isn't even enough. They did maybe $50 worth of work for $300! Unbelievable. I've been cleaning since I got back, to take care of everything that they didn't do. read more

If I could give zero stars I would! Worst cleaning service I have ever gotten. I had them come once before a party to clean select rooms in the house and was satisfied with the cleaning. Upon there second visit they only completed half of the house when I had scheduled a full house cleaning, they did return the next day to clean the upper level of the home but the quality of cleaning was much lower to there first visit. Third and finally attempt today, I had schedule a full home cleaning and I'm horribly disappointed. First of all they cancelled on me the original day I was scheduled and couldn't reschedule for another full week. Than today upon returned home you would t have know a cleaning had taken place of it wasn't for the ironic card left on the table stating enjoy your clean house. Bar minimum was done. Vacuuming was completed and one the bathrooms was cleaned. While visible dust was left on every other surface in the home, dirt in the corners on the floors and crumbs on the counters. I called and asked if I could please be refunded part of there fee due to the horrible quality of the cleaning and was rudely denied. I was told they could send a second cleaner out in two days but after waiting three weeks for this clean to take place I have no interest in allowing these people in my home for a fourth time! Very disappointed! Don't waste your time or money!! read more

Should have read the reviews on here first! Wow - over sold and under delivered. Full house clean on a 2900 sq foot house and then send 1 person for 5 hours, so much she couldn't get done because it was too much for one person. Didn't have the right vacuum to get pet hair off couch when they knew I had a big husky, didn't do the baseboards, couldn't reach cathedral ceiling fan even though I specifically asked and was told they'd have all the equipment. Not pros, don't waste your money! read more

Overall, I was very disappointed in the "value" I received for this service and will not be using Merry Maids again. I would not recommend them. Debbie, the owner, came out to provide a price estimate - my home is over 2,200 sqr feet with 2.5 bathrooms - and I was looking for a clean every 4-5 weeks. The quote was $149 for the home and I was given the cleaners arrival estimate of between 10-11am (the woman showed up at 10 after 11). You can imagine my surprise when I learned that Merry Maids was there for less than 2 hours!!!! To clean a 2.5 bathroom, 4 bedroom home. I think they barely ran a dry cloth across things. When I called Debbie, the owner, she said the $149 was non-negotiable and that $75/hr was a fair price - regardless of all the above. $75/hr to clean houses - I am in the wrong business! read more

Merry Maid did an amazing job cleaning my rental house! Deb and Lisa made it very convenient getting an appointment. Everything was spotless floors, freig, stove, bathrooms and walls. I'm so glad I called them! Kevin and his son did an amazing job on my carpets. They look brand new! Thank you, Merry Maids! read more

Very overpriced for job done. Carpet cleaning done so poorly I had to hire someone else to do again. Asked for refund but nothing doing. Never again. read more

Merry Maids - Never Again! - Home Cleaning Near Me - Holyoke, Massachusetts

We were told satisfaction guaranteed! Recently had our house cleaned the day before a real estate open house. We were not happy with the job done. Many areas missed. When we called to complain they were unable to return before the open house leaving us to finish the job. Given that this was on a late Friday afternoon we were told to call the office on Monday. My husband called, stated our complaints and were told a supervisor would get back to us. No one returned our call. My husband called the following Monday and asked for a supervisor, he was told by the supervisor that they were unaware of our complaints and offered us 25 dollars off of a future cleaning. I will not be using this service again. Not in any way satisfied! read more

We hired Merry Maids for a deep cleaning. They arrived late, without adequate cleaning supplies, and completed MAYBE 1/2 of the agreed-upon services. Despite Merry Maids "100% Satisfaction Guaranteed" policy, we were still charged the full amount. Do not use this company - they are not concerned with customer service or quality of work. read more

I have had two experiences with Merry Maids and both were great. Two years ago I received a gift of 5 weeks of house cleaning when I broke my shoulder and the lady was meticulous. I healed and unfortunately wasn't able to continue with the service. About three months ago my situation changed and I began with Merry Maids again. My housekeeper is always prompt, reliable, thorough, always cheerful, and takes care with my belongings. My life is more stressful now and it is so comforting to come home to a very clean home and I love that "just clean smell". Take note of the dates of some of the other reviews read more

If you're reading this review, don't waste your time on this company. Do. Not! I would give no stars if that were an option. Merry Maids is a headache. They are so unprofessional. Their maids are lazy and their office staff is atrociously rude and utterly incompetent. If you have the patience of a nun, or if you like your house to stink of chemicals and look dirty, then give them a call! If not, head over to Care.com and find a private housekeeper/maid there. Learn from my mistake! read more

What a dismal experience. First, they got the address wrong (I mean they went to a town half an hour away). When I went to check on the job, it was only half done. No follow up with me personally. No attempt to correct job poorly done. If you DO use them, and I advise against it, whatever you do don't pay until you've seen the WHOLE job. Oh yes, and at least one of their staff members lie to their supervisor about the nature of the job. read more

I have been with Merry Maids for several years. The quality of their cleaning is getting worse and worse. Plus, the damage to my home is costing me money. They have damaged woodwork, walls, baseboards, furniture. They pulled out a towel rack from the wall. My bathroom floors are a disgrace. Dirt buildup in the corners and edges, dirt on the baseboards. I complain and still nothing gets cleaned. I've had it with these people. I would never ever recommend Merry Maids in South Hadley MA. read more

I'm very disappointed with the service. Our first cleaning was great but it has gotten consistently worse each and every time we have been with them for 6 months now. I got home about 1hr after our cleaning today and ran my hand above my ceiling fan and the amount of dust was wayy to much to accumulate in a day never mind an hour. I wish I could post pictures to this review because this is not clean. read more

Kevin the owner of this business is the most unprofessional person I have ever encountered. I was with them for a year and it started off rocky no maid they sent to my house could do their job. I have cameras in my home and watched to see how things were going and they either weren't cleaning and just using their cell phone or snooping through things. Finally before I was going to cancel with them I gave them one last chance and that's when we got Renee, she was the best at the end of my one year with them Renee had left them so I decided to drop them and when I called to cancel I got Kevin and instead of just saying ok and thank me for being a good customer and sorry to hear that I'm no longer using their services he decided to threaten me and act like a child and accused me of things that were untrue. I told him he's lucky I even stayed after what the other maids did he said he didn't want to hear it and didn't care. Thank god Renee has decided to go out and venture on her own and start her own business so I was able to now have her as our personal house keeper and she's great. She's amazing and trustworthy and does a great job. I will never do business with merry maids again they are not a good company and have poor management skills and poor customer service which to me is not a good way to run a business. read more

Extremely disappointed in the service I received yesterday from this company. I came home to a house NOT cleaned. She did nothing I had asked for and what I expected. She cleaned my tub and microwave for a 100 in two hours! No mopped floors m, no vacuuming, no dusting. Nothing! I called the company today crying to see if they could come back and said no. So much for satisfaction guaranteed!! Thank you for robbing a single mother blind and not working something out! Very upset! I will never use you again nor reccomend you! Thanks for NOTHING! read more

Let me start by saying the sales woman that sold us the service did a phenomenal job. We were truly excited to get started. While we weren't blown away to begin with the service was decent while we remained linked to Holyoke. After the first several cleanings they opened a branch in Holden (not yet listed in Yelp) and transferred our service through there. That's when things went from mediocre to completely unacceptable!! $120 to clean our home and each time I needed to do several things myself to feel like the house had been fully cleaned. There were several cleanings in a row that I questioned whether they cleaned my shower at all! Didn't dust my dinning room at all. Questioned how much of the house they vacuumed. And each time I at least had to sweep my hardwood floors if not also mop again. After voicing our concerns several times, things continued to get worse until we reach out to the owner directly. We were willing to hold off until they set up a stronger set of employees and resume then. Kevin the owner was more concerned with collecting the $155 to end our 1 year contract than making things right. We were happy to pay $155 to be done with him!! If you are looking for a cleaning service of quality then continue your search elsewhere. read more

Unfortunately after 3 or 4 cleans we cancelled our service. It was a wonderful thought to think that we'd have peace of mind knowing our home would be clean, however, we were sorely disappointed. I was given a quote of services that would be rendered during each clean, and unfortunately when the cleans were provided beginning with the "deep clean" it was unacceptable and Merry Maids had to come out the week after that to ensure that things got clean to the expectations they set forth upon signing up during the quoted. Even the clean after the initial deep clean that Merry Maids offered in "good faith" was unsatisfactory and just a downright disappointment. There was dust everywhere, things weren't moved and swept under, the toilet in the bathroom wasn't clean (how obvious...), etc... we figured we'd continue to give it a chance thinking it'd get better. We were very wrong though. The team had their quality assurance person come out to check and upon arriving home that evening, I wondered how that person was satisfied with the work their staff completed. Maybe my expectations were too high. We've now switched services to another cleaner who charges half the price and meets our expectations. Oh, and when my fiancé called and spoke with the owner and asked if he was okay with his employees doing the bare minimum and not meeting the agreements expectations, the owner laughed at him on the phone and spoke very condescendingly. That all being said, I'd much rather pay another agency who offers premier customer service and support as well as providing what they've agreed to provide rather than utilize this service ever again. read more

first and last experience with merry maids! decided to use a cleaning service after having hard wood floors installed on our first floor to clean up all the dust that managed to travel everywhere in our home. merry maids came and quoted $468 for full house cleaning including wall washing. 2 women came and cleaned and when i arrived home from work i was horrified at how little they actually cleaned! mirrors still dirty , missed an entire laundry room, walls not even close to being touch, celing fans still with cobwebs, cabinets dusted but not washed,etc....called them and they sent a woman the next day who did a few more things but still not even close to a good cleaning! i called to complain (after beginning to wash walls and complete the cleaning of the bathrooms) and the owner came over himself to inspect. he was competely rude and condescending and told me wall washing is an extra cost from the $468 dollar quote even though the initial woman told me it would be included! i was so taken aback by the rudeness of the owner that i finally just asked him what he thought was fair to reimburse me and asked him to leave my home. after going back and forth he decided on reimbursing $100. $368 was still waaayy too much money for the job done! it basically looked like my kids had cleaned the house! horrible job and rude owner. stay clear! read more
