Jessica was excellent! I could tell she knows the body and is experienced. Anyone asking me where to go will get Jessica's name at Merritt Massage in Norwalk. Thank you Jessica. read more

I've been going here occasionally over many years. As you'd expect, some masseuses are better than others, but overall I have found they do a really nice job. While some other reviews have complained that massage is too deep or hard, I have always found that the masseuse checks in with me and adjusts the pressure to suit. $60 for a high quality hour massage seems like a real bargain. The place is not fancy, but it's clean and comfortable. read more

Two random times in two years I've been here. Outstanding massage. Both times. Convenient last minute on-line booking, great price, and just all around awesome. 5th star in this review is only missing due to location and cheesy pornographic-like picture art in the window. Seriously, I almost drove away that first time but so glad I didn't. read more

Merritt Massage - Waxing Near Me - Norwalk, Connecticut

Best massage I've gotten in a while and I've been to much more expensive of places. They only wanted $60. I gave them $100 because they deserved it! So pleased I will definitely be coming back read more

My boyfriend and I have had massages from this place in the past. Since we had not had a massage in over a year I decided it would be nice to go get one. We both received a great massage. The total bill was $120.00 so I tipped 18% on $60 each for each lady, $10 dollars each. When they were handed their tips I saw one of the ladies look at the other with a " look" on her face. My boyfriend asked,"is that not enough??" And one of the ladies nodded no that the tip was not enough. So he pulled out another $5 dollars and handed it over. We both left feeling like we were cheap and not good people at all. I don't think we will go back here again because of this experience. read more

This place is seriously underrated on Yelp. I received a Groupon from my husband as a birthday gift for Merritt Massage which is located by his work on Route 7. I looked it up and read some reviews but kept an open mind. To be honest I was expecting to experience at least one of the negative points in the reviews...but not even one instance came up!! My massage therapist proved every negative to be completely wrong. The therapists are really great and professional at their trade and use really great techniques. They have great heated beds for the massage that actually don't get too hot but keep you really comfortable through the experience. I got a 60-min swedish massage. If you address beforehand you would like less pressure they won't ignore your request. I told them I prefer less pressure and they gave me just the right amount I desired. The music was very fitting, the timing of all areas of massage worked out perfect. They use those nice hot cloths at the end to remove the massage oil which is another hidden perk and the prices are very affordable compared to most massage places! Because the price is more affordable of course you can't expect the same exact experience, aromas, and environment that the Red Door Spa gives you for the same massage at $150. I think some people have too high expectations of that sort of thing when this place is really strictly about the quality of the actual massage. I had a great experience and recommend them most definitely! My back feels so much better along with my leg and arm muscles!! read more

I went for a prenatal massage last week and was probably one of the worst massage experiences I've ever had. This is actually my first time leaving a review on Yelp, so you can tell it was THAT bad. First, they had me put on a robe that was clearly not meant for a pregnant woman and had me sit alone in the room for 10 minutes soaking my feet in a bucket of hot water. So 10 minutes of my 50 minute massage was just soaking my feet? Also, it says they know how to do prenatal massage but the massage therapist kept telling me to lay on my back. I tried to explain to her that i couldn't do that (i am 37 weeks pregnant!!!) but her English wasn't good and she told me that it would be better on my back. Once i convinced her to do on my side, she had one tiny pillow between my legs but said there were no more pillows so i could hold one as well. She kept asking me if i wanted deep tissue (which again, a no no for prenatal). Then to top it off, their credit card machine didn't work at the end. So they had to manually copy my credit card information. Needless to say, i will not be back! read more

Called at 10am to schedule for two people. The man who answered told me that they would be able to schedule us in for 11am. So we drove to Norwalk on our day off only to be told they got busy and they didn't have any available masseuses anymore. One star for wasting part of my day off. Won't consider this place again. read more

I've had massage's here in the past and was always happy. My last massage was last week with Yuyu and was very disappointed! She used her elbows over my spine and it was very uncomfortable! I also felt she was not intune with my body or what she was doing. I asked her to stop after 30 minutes! Called the owner later that day and complained:( read more

First is first, I left this place feeling great, may have been one of the best massages I have ever gotten, and I have gone to many other places. I came in with horrible lower back pain and left with almost no pain. However here are the cons: I told my massage therapist that I felt pain when she did one stroke repeatedly, she tried to put less pressure but it took her a few minutes to stop when I told her it was too painful. Second, she left the room twice to speak with someone else in the middle of my massage. For the price, this place is definitely worthy of a second try, I will be back again! read more

I'd been in desperate need of a deep-tissue massage for a while but had been putting it off due to lack of funds. When I saw there was a Groupon offering a 60-minute massage for $39 I immediately purchased it. I was greeted upon my arrival by the receptionist who also turned out to be my masseuse. I wish she had conducted an initial consultation to get an idea of my pain points etc etc... you know like they do every time you go anywhere else for a massage? I suppose this was because they don't speak English so I let it slide. Painful isn't even the right word to describe the experience...I am usually pretty good when it comes to "strong" massages.. I prefer them actually but this was brutal....from my head down to my ankles (my feet were neglected because I forgot to take off my socks - my fault). This woman was half my size but had the strength of a WWE wrestler. I knew she meant serious business when she stood up on the massage table for extra leverage and used her pointiest body parts (i.e. elbows) to press into my back with all of her body weight. On the plus side, they must have gotten the memo that customers were cold because that issue seemed to be fixed. Between the heating pad, the hot towels, and excruciating pain I was fortunately laying in a puddle of sweat by the end of the hour. Also, I was lucky that during my visit no kettle bell classes were taking place next door (it was noon on a Wednesday) but those walls are very thin so I can see how that can get very annoying. Worst case, you can look up the gyms class schedule and plan your massage around that: http://www.norwalkkettlebellcamp.com/contact-norwalk-boot-camp.html It definitely was not even close to my best massage ever but for the price I paid I can't complain too much. I would not pay full price and probably won't ever go back. read more

No wait, no paperwork, no fuss. Received a very firm massage that included my glutes (butt)! She was even kneeling on the table! Also nice to have a warm towel wipe down to remove the oils. This was not a routine massage that feels scripted, like at Massage Envy etc. There is a language barrier, but who wants to have a conversation? I highly recommend if you want total full body deep tissue. Needs improvement: tacky storefront, cheap bedsheets, IKEA style table. It is not a "spa" atmosphere. You will not be pampered but you will get a great massage read more

Very good experience here. As a transplant from Manhattan to Norwalk, I was looking for an awesome walk-in massage place to replace my regular spot a block from my apt. in NYC and this one is the best I have found so far. I am very busy and want to be able to go get a massage at a moments notice, so walk-in feature is a must for me. I also like extremely hard massage on my tight upper back/shoulders and they delivered. Yes, it is no-frills, but I could care less. The only reason I took off a star is because at $80/hr, its more than I would normally pay (usually can get them for $60) but this is the best bang for my buck so far. read more

Wish I could give zero stars. I went here once and it was ok..so when i saw it on living social i figured id try it again. worst experience i have ever had. i had to change my appointment, which the owner apparently did, but forgot to do in his computer system. when i arrived my voucher was marked as expired despite me changing my appointment. owner was extremely inappropriate and rude and did literally nothing to rectify the situation but tell me to call living social. Theyre also definitely doing something shady here. the place is dingy and very odd. read more

I had a 90-minute massage because my shoulders were so tense from work. The massage was okay, she didnt ask any questions up front which surprised me. She kept rubbing each muscle over and over again until they hurt. Overall the experience was alright, I did feel more relaxed. Until the end, when the masseuse actually told me to "don't eat so much ice cream". Something about how I was more sensitive to pressure because I weigh about 200lbs. That ruined the experience for me and I will absolutely never be going back. read more

$60 for an hour, they don't speak much English and I'm lucky if I get one massage every few years, but for the price you get a great no frills massage. Will be back. read more

I always get a great massage here. Found this place on Groupon and they are perfect for when you need a good massage to relieve your stress and tensions. Its definitely not the nicest (decor wise) but its a no-frills great massage. Only suggestion is for the music in the room to be louder so that I can doze off and drown out any other noises I may here. read more

This was my first time ever going for a full body massage, and it was really nice. The music and lighting fit the mood quite well. My masseuse used just the right amount of pressure, and was quite pleasant. The prices in comparison to other places are quite fair. I'll definitely be back for more. read more

When I get a massage, I want to be able to relax - well when the massage room is next door to a Kettle Bell Gym you can forget about relaxing. The constant thumping of the weights hitting the floor was beyond annoying it was truly aggravating. Just as I 'd finally feel the good effects of the massage, THUMP THUMP THUMP - plus the music coming through the wall. Agree with other reviewer re: room was cold, no blanket etc. Never wasting my time or money there again. read more

Best massage I have ever. The therapist who did for my is very kind and nice. Room is lean and private with relax music. My best recommend massage store. U'd worth to try it read more

I found out about Merritt Massage through Groupon, and had my first massage there today. My masseuse, Lucy, was outstanding. I asked her for a deep tissue massage and told her to press hard because my back, neck, and calves were loaded with knots. She asked several times if it was okay (I think she was worried that she was pressing to hard), and I told her she was doing perfectly (because she was). She asked if I wanted to add more time - she was doing such a great job that I said, "yes!". Instead of the 50 minutes I had originally scheduled, the massage went about 90 minutes. Great massage, possibly the best one I have ever had. The only negatives were that Lucy was called out of the room by somebody a couple of times during the session. Also, at the end she asked if I wanted to extend for 10 more minutes - I said yes, but then she came back after talking to somebody out front, and said that she couldn't. Finally, Lucy collected the fee, but I don't think anybody told her that I had already paid for the first 50 minutes with my Groupon. I was going to mention it to her, but she had to run out of the door (literally). Regardless, of the confusion at the end, I definitely plan to go to Merritt Massage again. read more

Had a massage that was bought on Groupon. It was so inappropriate and I felt so violated. DO NOT get a massage from here. I am really appalled that Groupon would partner with them. Truly a disgusting experience. read more

Left the massage feeling worst then when I came in. The next day was horrible as well pain all over back. The lady did it so rough as if I was a man. Im a tall female but damn what happened to the soft handed women that does massages lol. My husband and I requested a couples massage same room but when we got to the place the couples room was taken so we were taken to Merritt Massage. We had to wait a good 20 mins before the ladies came. Then 3 times the lady stopped and got out the room. The only thing that was good was the hot stone. Sorry but wouldn't come back. read more

Honestly for the price it is a good massage, there are downfalls but again even the full price of $70 is very low for an hour massage. The therapist asked me if I wanted deep tissue which I did and told me to tell her if its to hard, which it wasn't. She may not speak excellent English but communicated fine. Its definitely not fancy in there, just a sheet to cover you, bare rooms and old still tables but it was warm enough and not loud when I was there. This is not the right place if your looking for luxury. If you are looking for a good massage at a good price then I think you will be happy. read more

Left the massage in pain, and felt like I got punched in the shoulder the next morning. Would not recommend. I thought massages were supposed to make pain go away, not create it. read more

Going back for 3rd time. Every massage has been great. Massage professionals have climbed on the table and even used the ceiling bars to walk on my back. I have a great deal of experience with different types, massage experiences and cost. Merritt has always been a great deal and a great massage. This is not "Red Door" and not nearly the "Red Door" costIy highly recommend trying them. read more

Very good massage for $45 (used Groupon). It wasn't the most luxurious setup but it was perfect for coming in and out for a nice massage.

I have had really good massages here but also really bad and painful ones. The couples massage room is small but it's a nice experience. To get the massage you are looking for you have to tell them clearly what you want. Don't be afraid to ask and spell it out for them because theyre looking to please. "Swedish, concentrate on my neck and shoulders, medium level." The only down side to this place is that they spend the first half of the massage doing it through the sheet which feels terrible. read more

Its all fuss. Better not to go here because service is very poor and staff's language is pathetic. They ask for tips but no service. Very Arrogant. read more

First time ever writing on yelp. The experience was extremely painful. Had the Swedish massage. Told the masseuse that I have degenerative disc disease on the last two vertebrae of my spine and not to go near there. I just wanted minimal pressure shoulder and neck work. She ended up putting so much pressure on my lower back that I actually asked to stop the massage for fear of a flare up. Two days later and I'm still in pain from a massage that I cut short from 60 mins to about 15. I've had many, many massages before but never one like this. I do not think they are trained properly. This is not a place I would ever go back to. Ever. read more

I would not recommend this place for massage. the therapists are OK at best, but don't seem to be licensed as most of them dont speak English. I wouldn't mind if the massages were decent, but they're not. I tried it twice but would not go back. the room was cold, no blanket and therapist kept leaving, I think to answer the phone. read more

I absolutely love this place! $70 for an hour long massage (plus they always have coupons on their website) is an absolute steal in Fairfield County. As other reviewers have pointed out, it's without frills, but that's totally fine when I'm only paying $70! I've found they are really good about asking if they are giving enough pressure and responding adequately. (I like a lot of pressure, and they adjusted to my perfect level.) However, they were also not overly talkative-- my biggest masseuse pet peeve. They were perfectly professional and friendly. I'll be back! read more

I don't understand why the reviews are so bad. I was there today for the first time and had a great experience. The therapist told me that there is now a new owner and manager so maybe that's why. My massage was strong, but very relaxing. The staff is well-trained, in my opinion, and create a very professional and pleasant experience. The manager was pleasant and answered all my questions. I recommend this place very highly. read more

A couple days ago was my first time at the place since my regular was already closed by the time I got out of work. Likes: 1. My masseuse had a very nice personality, 2. Considering the physical condition I was in after playing 2 games of volleyball & 2 tennis matches immediately after, the massage was by far the best I've gotten. Dislikes: 1. I was given a room to lay down in and told a masseuse will be with me in a couple of minutes. Well, I already dozed off and woken up and still no masseuse. It probably took 12 - 15 minutes before my masseuse came in. 3. Someone kept on talking to my masseuse during my session. This went on for a few minutes and then again, 2 more times after that. 4. It was hard to relax coz of the boxing gym of the sort next door. 5. Room was a little bit on the cool side but I didnt say anything about it even though I was asked. This is really more on me. Overall, the massage is by far the best I've gotten and would go back just for that. However, the environment did not really give that relaxing of an atmosphere. read more
