Tanks from the tasting bar
Katie R.

Came here on New Years Eve after a hike for a few samples and ended up bringing a growler and a six pack to our New Year's Eve party. Loved the oatmeal stout the best but they were all pretty good. The owner was there with his two dogs and was super friendly. He runs the place with an assistant brewer and one other half time employee and that day he was all on his own. The tasting room is straight up in the brewing space but there is a nice little bar and a few couches for sitting while you sample. We were the only people there but it was a holiday and an hour before closing time. The place is kind of in a terrifying warehouse. If your thought there is no way this is the right place and you think maybe this is a lure to trap me then you are in the right place. The door had a tiny bumper sticker that says Merrimack ales. Walk through that then there will be another door on your left and that will bring you into the brew space.

These guys have some amazing and unique local craft brews - all made just a few feet from the bar. It's a really chill setting and dog friendly, tucked into a warehouse on the end of a teeny road so you won't find it unless you're looking for it. They don't serve food (although sometimes there's a food truck) and you'd better like beers because the closest you'll get to a cocktail is their gose. But it's a great quiet spot to grab a pint and a 4-pack.

Had the Blonde, and it was very good. The server was super-nice. I would love to see the space cleaned up and made more inviting.

I first visited these guys when they were operating out of a small barn, and seeing the evolution to this 53,000 sq ft, $18.5M facility is seriously impressive. They follow a "direct-to-consumer" model -- selling everything right out the front door -- and they've mastered it. I've been here many times over the years and go whenever I have the opportunity, which says everything. Tried some of their standout beers -- King Julius is the gold standard, consistently ranked among the best beers in the world. Their flagship Julius is just as impressive, with massive notes of mango and peach -- incredibly well balanced and executed. There are usually food trucks on site, which adds to the experience -- you can enjoy a fresh pour while picking up your take-home haul. Fun fact: On BeerAdvocate's all-time Top 250 list, Tree House often has 30+ beers featured, something almost no other brewery can match. Overall, some of the best beers anywhere -- truly unparalleled and absolutely worth the visit. Saluti.

Service: Since it was so busy, the pizzas were a bit of a wait. But it was worth it. Ambiance: A lot of kids, families, very busy. But bathrooms were clean and it was a fun place to have my friend's birthday at.

Wings: Good on quantity, but kinda soggy and not much texture, as if they were quickly reheated frozen tenders that just happened to have bones. Burger: A little better. Nice double smash with just enough crust and a moist interior. Nothing special beef blend-wise. Puffy bun. Minimal melt on the cheese. Fries: An easy $1 add-on to the burger but very very processed, and the coated kind to boot.

Service at tables is sub par, slow and not managed well. Not one visit. Multiple visits. We've been there more than a dozen times. It's such a unique place that I want to succeed desperately. Sometimes it is full and super busy but overtime. Some of these issues will catch up with them. It's a management issue. Food is consistent, tasty pub food at a relatively good price point. The challenge is food getting to the table in reasonable timeframes, hot and on time (apps not arriving at the same time as main course). There is an issue with the clarity of the service model. This past Sunday evening is a great example. Not busy. Server more focused on closing at 5:45pm than our table. Didn't see for long periods. We were at a table next to the bar and I saw our beers and wine.l sit there. I ended up getting them myself. One of our three appetizers came out ahead of time the other two arrived with dinner and they were warm at best. When dinner did arrive, the onion rings were cold. There seemed to be a manager, more concerned about busing our table and less about our status. In a past visit, a manager acknowledged the challenges we had and offered a gift certificate. I said it wasn't necessary. I just want to provide the feedback because I love the venue, the beer and the pub food. What is necessary is how fundamentally look at how they serve their customers consistently.
