A nice park in the Middlesex county. The park is clean, big and has lots of parking spaces available. There were lots of small picnic areas for family and friends alike to sit down and enjoy a meal. The park is good to just walk around or jog and is also pet friendly. There were restrooms available and a nice little area to see animals. Although, there aren't a ton of animals here but, it's still a nice touch and kids love them. There were a few courts to play sports like basketball, tennis and a few fields for baseball and soccer. There are slides and playgrounds for kids to play in. Merril park is a nice place to hangout with friends and family and nice way to relax and enjoy the nature.

Probably one of the best parks in the area. Your typical park with benches, playground, field, and courts. But, there is also a petting zoo area. Definitely check it out, some really adorable goats, chickens, a horse, and several others! There is parking available for free. I believe you have to reserve a spot if your picnic has a lot of people. Otherwise, just to visit, there is walking/biking path. Very dog-friendly.

We come to this park often, at least once a week. They have 3 areas with a play ground. 1 is completely wooden and its bigger, the other is an older plastic one closer to the small zoo, and a newer plastic one but construction is going on. Lots of parties over the weekend and it's busy. They have a gazebo you can sit when you're tired walking around the park. Has a walking/jogging/biking trail that circles around the field. A basketball court. My husband loves kiting in the field since it's pretty big. They also have a small concession stand that sells pretzels, icies and drinks.

Merrill park is clean and has numerous areas for a variety of activities. 2 tennis double courts next to 2 basketball courts. Next to the tennis courts is a wide and long playing field for soccer, frisbee, kite flying or running around w/ the kids or dogs. Across from the basketball courts is a large area with a wooden & plastic swing/slide/bridge set. Just around the corner of the circle track is a zoo of various animals: horse, goats, peacocks, bunnies, boars... There are also a few softball/baseball fields and another set of tennis courts across the zoo. Overall Merrill Park is a well groomed medium sized park

I love strolling through Merrill Park especially now that they finished the major renovations that they were doing.

Established in 2000 to commemorate Metuchen's 100-year anniversary, the aptly named Centennial Park might be the largest natural open space in Metuchen, but during half a dozen visits I've never seen any locals here. (The only human footprint seems to be the occasional stray beer bottle.) Maybe it's because of the massive mosquito population or the poison ivy, but even animals seem to avoid this place. Centennial Park has one sparsely blazed trail and benches by each entrance, and can be accessed either via a set of stairs by the overpass on Grove Avenue or the dead-end on Highland Avenue. These seem to be all that Metuchen is willing to put forth into making a neglected 13-acre forest into a user-friendly park. I suspect that there are other reasons for the park designation: mitigating noise from passing trains, wildlife preservation, air pollution reduction, etc. The nearby Middlesex Greenway, Oakland Park, and Roosevelt Park (which is less than a mile away) all provide larger, cleaner, and safer alternatives for outdoor recreation.
