My new fav. This week was my second time coming to Kindred! I was in need of a new place to get my hair done, and I saw this one online a while back and wanted to try it. Both times I've gone to Mckinzi who is so great!! She's left my hair being exactly what I wanted to be! It is super great about giving me tips on how to keep it healthy and happy! Easy scheduling, welcoming staff, a fantastic cut, and reasonably priced. McKinzi did my cut and I'm very pleased with it. My hair thinned like crazy postpartum and I was very self conscious about it. McKinzi did a great job putting me at ease and the cut is super low maintenance as requested. I will return! Pro tips - There's a $1 up charge for a green recycling initiative. Their waiting area is super cute but closed due to COVID. I've been going to this salon since January and I've gotten a haircut each time. MerMarché is still very conscientious with COVID. Masks are still worn and you wait in your car until you are called to enter the business for your appointment. MerMarché is a green circle salon that has a shop area with green brands. Their rotating stock of apparel and products make coming in a different experience each time. Today they had clothing and athletic wear from girlfriend collective. Their salon uses green products such as Davines. Their staff is very kind and welcoming. They are willing to work with suggestions and explain prices. Pricing is very transparent. There is $1 green fee which is really not much when you consider the quality experience you will get from your visit. As for my cut, I have loved it each time. I usually like a blunt straight cut but I have gotten layers since coming to MerMarché and my stylist Senna does a wonderful job! Overall the experience is great. The shop is welcoming and bright. The staff are attentive and friendly. They are environmentally conscious. It's a hidden gem! read more

The worst hair cutting experience I have ever had. I went in August to get a haircut and I have thick/long hair which I wasn't hiding and the whole time I was apologizing for being an inconvenience (which is how the stylist made me feel after her comments). At no point in the beginning of the appointment did she tell me she only allotted I think 45 minutes and doesn't believe that that gives her adequate time. So she began washing my hair and then blow drying it for 30 minutes. She didn't use any product to detangle my hair after being fairly rough with it or heat protect while blow drying it!!! She used a horrible brush and keep ripping my hair out. At no point did she check in about pain or apologize despite my facial expressions and I can tolerate a lot of pain. There was so much hair fallout throughout this process which was horrible!!! Then she gave me my trim and light layering. She then starting framing around my face and cut my bangs 2 inches too short on one side and played it off until I asked her to please fix it. She was then rushing and I asked about styling because she told me we were out of time... my hair was frizzy and not styled and slightly uneven. She said my hair was too thick and she didn't have time and made it feel like it was my fault. She also kept commenting on my hair thickness and texture throughout the session, which made me feel uncomfortable. At no point did she apologize for the uneven bangs much shorter bangs or for not styling my hair, which is listed as a part of the cut... and I had to go to an event after my appointment with my hair in a bun. The manager, which is who charged me at the end, said we can't anticipate your hair texture... if it's such a factor, please have it be a question in your detailed intake you make customers fill out. It definitely seems like they serve a certain type of clientele with a certain type of hair texture... I DO NOT recommend them at all! read more

I found Kindred a few years ago when I lived on the north side of Indy and loved visiting for all of their adorable and unique home, accessory and clothing items they carried. The salon and boutique is located in this cute little house off of the main street in downtown Carmel. This portion of my review is solely for their new facial/skin care services: Fast forward a few years and I was recently in search of someone local for facials. Their skincare services are something that they just started offering so I figured I would give it a shot. Let me tell you, it is completely worth my drive from downtown! Jessica is so gentle and explains everything she is doing during the process of your facial. Best of all, they use natural organic products. My skin has never felt as glowing and as clean as it did the day I visited. In addition to the newly added facials, they offer a skin swap program where you can share your current routine with them and they recommend products that fit your needs. While I haven't gotten the chance to try this out just yet, I'm excited to hopefully get to in the coming months. read more

I discovered this hair salon through Groupon and what a find! It's a clothing boutique with a hair salon which is modern day genius concept! You can literally get everything you need to look fabulous all in one place. Located in a cute little house right off Rangeline they have adorable clothes and trendy decor. All very reasonably priced. The hair salon is in the two back rooms and I saw Robbi who was doing a Groupon to build a new client base. She did an amazing job with my cut and color. I really just needed a trim and a highlight touch up but she went above and beyond. She took her time in making sure that each section of my hair was adequately covered in foils. After the cut she styled my hair with loose curls. I left feeling absolutely beautiful! Can't wait to schedule my next appt and do some shopping. read more

Manager refused to honor Groupon because she couldn't make sense of the notes in her computer and refused to contact the owner to clarify. She was rude and completely incompetent. Stylist was leaving the salon in 1 week and it was obvious she did not care about the qulaity of service she providing. Terrible experience overall & especially with the manager. Being right down from Main Street in Carmel this little boutique and salon is definitely a place to stop on in! Entering the door your surrounded by adorable clothes, hair products and services, homegoods items, and plants by Ladybird. Everywhere you look is magical and unique! I ventured to this cute location for a floral arrangement workshop and had the best time! The ladies are so kind and welcoming. I felt at home. I received a text the day before to stay in my car and they would call when my hair stylist was ready for me. McKinzi did an absolutely amazing job! I hadn't gotten my hair cut short in about seven years so I was worried how it would look and asked what she thought (I have extremely thick hair and wasn't sure if I should) she was honest and told me exactly how she would be cutting it to get the best look possible for my hair type, she also made it fun and is very easy + enjoyable to talk to and I left feeling like a million bucks! Had no clue this place was also a boutique!! I only known about that place because I was in need of a hair cut and found a deal with Sam Roembke on groupon. Upon arrival it seem a bit confusing because you are thinking is this a business or is this a house? But of course the come on in OPEN sign makes it obvious. You walk in it was clearly a boutique with very unique pieces of clothing you definitely wont find at your local mall. Everything felt so rustic and homey upon arrival. Sam came on out and greeted me and I told her I was there for my appt. She took me to the back where they had different rooms for wash, cut, and I think facials. Sam access my hair and I mentioned how I didnt want to chop and she took all my needs and made it happened. She wash and conditioned my hair and reassure me every step of the way she wont take too much off. My hair never felt so fabulous! It feels so much lighter and so soft. I wish I can feel like this everyday. My hair definitely got some much needed TLC. Of course when I was all done I couldnt leave without getting a few pieces of clothing. I left with 2 blouses. Yes, a little pricey but definitely worth it for the quality of it. Definitely be back to Sam to get my hair trim and blow out! She is amazing! read more

Being able to shop through the boutique while your hair is processing is always my favorite part. I am very particular about my hair, and I trust her completely. She has done several of my friends hair for wedding's as well as my own. She's one of those people that you can just let do her thing without much instruction and be pleasantly surprised.
