Nestled next to Lincoln Drive, Mount Airy Tavern is a local spot that juggles the paradox of being a dive bar and family-style restaurant. Environment This restaurant is a nice embodiment of exposed brick and gentle conversations.I've only sat inside on one occasion and the service was prompt yet inviting. Food This is where the restaurant truly shines. Yes,they have a handsome selection of local beers but the food outshines them all. Typically, I grab the Cajun Shrimp Pasta(only for those that can handle and appreciate spice) but if you're on the hunt for a quick snack the Parmesan Fries are also delightful. THE SAUCE Without question, this is my favorite restaurant in the Chestnut Hill/Mount Airy area. I would recomened this place to anyone looking in need of of a restaurant for a modestly priced first date or somewhere to rest your work demons. Happy eating!

The burger tasted kind of plain even though the description sounded great, the meat itself tasted really charred, as if it was cooked on a dirty grill which didn't taste good. My wife had the three cheese grilled cheese which was great for such a simple sandwich. The staff was pleasant enough and service didn't take long. May or may not try again, but if we do it certainly won't be for the burger. 2 beers and 2 meals only costed $44.95 after tax so it was worth it for a fairly cheap night out.

Drink Tip: The house margarita and top shelf margarita are pre-made and tbh they both gave me a pain throbbing headache (on two different instances). HOWEVER the other cocktails are tasty and did not give me a headache, I enjoy the cocktails most with mezcal as the smoky tequila gives certain drinks a nice kick with a smoky undertone. Food Favorites: Guacamole, Steak & Shrimp Fajitas Service: The service here is chill, they'll always ask if you have a reservation, you don't need one BUT if it's after 5 you'll be better off with a reservation. Parking: There is on street parking but if it's in the evening hope for the best.

The place was PACKED wall to wall because of the holiday. The wait was about an hour, so we decided to order food to go instead. I ordered a strawberry mango margarita from the bar, and honestly, I've never had a margarita taste like a tequila sunrise before. It was thick and just not good. Jesse made it, and when I mentioned it didn't taste like a margarita, Chyna (not sure of the spelling) attempted to remake it. The second one was slightly better, but still not what I'd expect from a margarita at a Mexican restaurant. We ordered the 4 taco platter (about $21). You can only choose two of the same taco type. We tried the short rib, chicken, and pork tacos along with the street corn. The tacos were okay maybe a 5/10. They fell apart. The black beans and rice were actually good. The street corn, however, lacked flavor and didn't really resemble traditional street corn. Barely any cheese or seasoning. Even the lime served with the tacos was so dry we couldn't get juice out of it. Overall, maybe the kitchen was overwhelmed because of Cinco de Mayo, so the food just didn't have that extra care behind them. First impressions matter, and this one unfortunately missed the mark for us. On the positive side, the space is large inside, they have a nice patio/garden seating area outdoors, and reservations are available. We might go back and try taco Tuesday.

Service like that always makes a difference and he made the experience feel really relaxed and welcoming. The space itself is cute and has a really nice vibe. They have a grass wall that makes a perfect photo backdrop, but just a heads up -- you'll need a larger table in front of it to sit there. If you're hoping to grab that spot for pictures, definitely come with a group of four or more. Another huge plus: free parking. If you know Philly, you know that alone is a win. It made getting there and leaving super easy. Making a reservation was also simple, and the crowd when we went was really diverse, which I always appreciate. Now the important part -- the food and drinks were great. I loved my drinks and everything we ordered hit the mark. One thing I really appreciated was the avocado toast, which was made with actual fresh avocado instead of one of those pre-made spreads a lot of places use. You can definitely taste the difference. Overall it was a really solid experience with good food, good drinks, great service, and a fun atmosphere. I'd absolutely come back.
