I know not everyone loves dogs but he needed to be with me in that moment for this errand and I'm grateful for the friendly, smooth transaction. It's really not much bigger in space than you would find in the drug stores around the city, where they occasionally have a postal outlet. They offer the standard Canada Post Office services, like stamps, coins, and mailing letters and picking up packages. There's also PO boxes available here. What I'm enjoying right now are the colourful holiday stamps offered by Canada Post! We certainly do not get as much mail as we used to, now that the internet and emails have taken over. What we get most often are bills :-( Until this time of year, of course! I hope to get a few holiday cards, and I have sent a few - with those colourful stamps! These are essential during COVID, to cheer people up. The service here has been adequate. They've put plexiglass sheets in front of the cash, to protect the staff as well as clients. Note they are only open half days on Saturdays, in the morning.

I only visit this place 3-4 times a year and have always been pleasant and respectful - never raising my voice! Also, I don't send Christmas cards or packages so wasn't even in the post office last Christmas! I spoke to another merchant in the Mall who says she's not surprised - Krissy's behaviour is very strange! She advised me to not take this personally but it's frustrating to encounter a merchant being so confrontational/abusive. It appears that Krissy has some serious mental health issues!

We can't have a confused tourist, let alone confused me. 59 Sparks Street is this Yelp listing. When you look at the building, it has Post Office above the main entrance, with two lion statues on either side of it. It looked like there were other businesses in this building, but nothing that screamed post office. I had to do a bit of digging. This location was known as Ottawa Postal Station B. It's considered a cultural heritage site as of September 2018. I can't tell what this building's purpose is now. What I do know is that the current full-service Canada Post across the street at 58 Sparks Street replaces services from 59 Sparks Street. This post office at 58 Sparks Street was formerly the Ottawa Electric Building. It has been around since 1926 by Albert Ewan, an architect for the Ottawa Electric Company. This company was both an electrical utility company. It also ran electric streetcars back in the day. Fascinating! So, looking at the reviews for this listing, my guess is that everyone is commenting on the services back in 2019 and earlier at the old post office. For current Canada Post services, such as mailing a parcel and renting a mailbox, you want to go across the street to the Canada Post with the Ottawa Electric Building name above the red Canada Post sign. I had never heard of Penguin Pick-Up until my package delivered by Canpar was dropped off there…read moreafter they attempted to deliver it to my home and I wasn't there twice. At first, I was afraid that I had to go pick it up at the Canpar depot which is super far from my house, but was pleasantly surprised that I didn't have to travel far after all. They dropped it off at Penguin Pick-Up. When I arrived, the staff were super nice, found my package quickly, and even carried it to my car for me (!) How nice is that? (It was a big and bulky package so I definitely appreciated the help). I asked them what they are all about because like I said, I had never heard of this business, and they said that they are a drop off and pick up business. So you can buy stuff online and have the Penguin Pick-Up office as your delivery address, and then you can pick up your package at your convenience. Also places like FedEx and Canpar drop packages there for customers who live nearby so they don't have to drive to the depot which is farther away. Cool! So you don't pay anything for their services, it's the delivery company that pays them. Very interesting... Anyway, the business idea sounds cool, and they were really nice to me, so I'm a fan. 5 stars ;)

The customer service has always been really great, and Josephine (the clerk I've had the most interactions with) has always been happy to help and has been super friendly and great to deal with. Now, I know there is probably a set rate across the board so I can't really say too much, but I do wish that shipping rates were a bit better, but otherwise I can't complain. I have never had trouble with sending or receiving any of my packages from this location.

Maybe because there is no accountability. The employees can steal any package they want and they don't get fired. I actually had one supervisor come to my home, knock on my door and threaten me with physical violence because I complained about crushed mail. All of my mail was being crushed into little balls and being shoved up inside the top of my apartment mailbox. That would take extra time on behalf of the postie and could clearly not be done the regular delivery way. After complaining about the threat on myself, I never heard from Canada Post again. I now get my mail in proper condition but have not received one single package that I have ordered, or that friends send me. I don't always get to choose how my packages are sent so I'm stuck. Latest offense, a book I requested in September, still has not arrived 16 October 2015.

This year, I bought an expensive premium kitchen item at almost $200 price from seller in Scarborough, ON. Again, was tracking it all the time - the parcel arrived in Nepean, ON, in 2 days, and again that's where it mysteriously disappeared. When tracking showed entries like - client requested to put on hold - I knew that something did not add up. I know that I did not make any such request, and nobody else could, since I live alone. I also know I could not make a request at 1 pm, as I was at work at that time. I created a ticket, submitted a complaint and called Canada Post to inquire if I can just go to the Nepean processing centre myself and pick it up there. They said no, but the parcel has been delivered the next day. The carton was obviously torn open, all bubble wrap around that expensive item was gone, the carton was re-taped multiple times. Based on 2 cases that happened to me personally, I believe there are employees in Canada Post who steal goods form mailed packages. I find this disturbing and decided not to use Canada Post any more.
