Our local Public Library is a great place to visit. Enjoy…read morebrowsing through the aisles and shelves. So many interesting books to read but time is at a premium. Due to the current Health concerns now is not a good time. The staff has always been understanding and helpful. Now there are apps to search for authors and their stories then arrange to pick up books at the Library or download E-books to tablets. Although popular Authors books usually have a long waiting time there are many books that are available to read in between. Still it will be nice to visit and see the tangible books again. Something to look forward to, soon...

UPDATE October 2017: (really, 3 1/2 stars if only I could award half-stars) I did not know that…read morethe library had that big room at the back for special functions - until I attended a monthly event there this month. The Goulbourn Museum (south on Stittsville Main St.) is under renovations. It's a heritage building, having been built in 1871 as a centre of commerce in Stittsville when there was literally NOTHING else around there. The problems with the dip in the floor are being addressed in the Museum, and naturally it's taking longer than planned. Meanwhile, the monthly knitting and other crafter's group is meeting in this big room in the library until at least January. We had a good turnout! Two people with spinning wheels, a new member who needed help with her project (she got it sorted out!!), lots of knitters and crocheters, and we were visited by a baby! What fun!! - - - - - - - - Update July 2017: the library has been renovated and looks much bigger. They have automated now too. I really miss dealing with people! ---------- Really, this would be a 2.5 star. I love to read, but this library is very small. Not so much in the space, but definitely so in the reading materials. They do have special events here at least once in a while, and intriguingly, they recently had art works from a local painter up on display and for sale. There's a great children's section. Maybe this outlet is just new and building, ro maybe this is the new reality with libraries. I will have to compare this one to two or three others that are also close by. However, I can say that I picked up a delicious novel that is based on Leonardo Davinci's life. Great reading!! "Signora Da Vinci" by Robin Maxell. I'm about half way through it now.

Not busy at all on a Sat. Score! I had my pup come in and…read moreout with me.. I just needed to shoot a small packet to the US. The attendant could not have been nicer. Helped me with the envelope choice. The address labels. Even gave me stickers to primp up the outer envelope even nicer. Cheers too, to the people of Stittsville who loved on my puppy and gave him all the love and pets wanting to know his story as he just laid on the cool floor loving his life. I know not everyone loves dogs but he needed to be with me in that moment for this errand and I'm grateful for the friendly, smooth transaction. Price was perfectly reasonable and I just trust CP, even in these crazy uncertain strike periods.

This post office is in a little (?) stand alone building on the west side of Stittsville Main St…read more There's parking in the rear of the building. It's really not much bigger in space than you would find in the drug stores around the city, where they occasionally have a postal outlet. They offer the standard Canada Post Office services, like stamps, coins, and mailing letters and picking up packages. There's also PO boxes available here. What I'm enjoying right now are the colourful holiday stamps offered by Canada Post! We certainly do not get as much mail as we used to, now that the internet and emails have taken over. What we get most often are bills :-( Until this time of year, of course! I hope to get a few holiday cards, and I have sent a few - with those colourful stamps! These are essential during COVID, to cheer people up. The service here has been adequate. They've put plexiglass sheets in front of the cash, to protect the staff as well as clients. Note they are only open half days on Saturdays, in the morning.

The ceilings of the court are high to express the stature and importance of the Supreme Court of Canada. I have to say, the washrooms were nice too. Security staff were courteous, unlike the Supreme Court of the United States - think that says much about Canada. :) Interestingly, the chairs of the judges of the SCC are all custom made so that all the judges sit all around at the same level. As a lawyer, you only get an hour to make a concise argument for your case so the importance of written factums (written submissions) are very important. Typically cases are heard in 1 day, but there are cases that take 2 days to be heard due to the high number of intervenors. The library, which is not accessible to the public, takes up most of the third floor of the building. For the general public, the library isn't probably somewhere you'd want to see or check out. It's has the legislation of all provinces/territories, secondary sources, and also European/British sources too. You can only borrow books for typically 24 hours.
