I am happy with the decision I made when I selected Lakewood post acute the level of professionalism from the nursing staff to the therapist is phenomenal! They treat my mother as if she was one of their own family members. I cannot forget to mention how accessible administration for whenever I call and have questions. I rest assured knowing my mother is in good hands! I highly recommend this facility!

Hi. My father is at this place right now. I'm not really all that thrilled with the medical…read moreservices so far. Got told just today that he never has had a urology exam done since he got there a week ago and so they don't actually have any way of knowing does he still need the Foley catheter which was placed at the hospital or not. Cannot talk to a doctor. Doctor did not come to the care conference on Monday. I was told by the nurse today that he/she probably should have. Nurse's name is Justine and she has been great with providing information and taking down notes and is nice to speak to. I also very much enjoyed meeting Melody the speech therapist and another person named Danielle. Have been enjoying the food, drinks and furniture and the TV. Patients do not get to choose which food they get but they do get to choose which drinks do they get with which meal. The food is usually very nice. Have especially enjoyed the waffles and oatmeal with brown sugar. For breakfast one morning. That was great. The magazines are also interesting, entertaining and fun. They even brought my father a Sudoku puzzle book so he can do his typical favorite type of puzzles while he is there. All of this is great. However. I am getting a little concerned about the quality of actual medical care and have yet to get to speak to a doctor from there at all. I am hoping that the nurse will at least leave the doctor a message please and thanks. I know that it is a rehab center but they still can do medical care. They also are claiming habitually and consistently that they cannot bring in any medical specialists from outside and I am not even sure if it is true. Online information indicates that yes, some rehab centers generally can. This one says that they cannot. Did not say why in any detail. Cheryl the British lady at the front desk spoke to me a few times and I also like her a lot so far so kudos to her. Other front desk ladies including Jessica were at least okay I guess so far. Would like to see improvement in the quality of medical care and in consultations with the care team as far as at least being more readily available to speak to more often or something of that interesting sort. Thanks.

My dad seemed to enjoy his short time there (he was a rehab patient, not a resident) as much as a 90 yr old dementia patient would. The main problem my siblings and I have with the center is their laundry practices/system. From what I can tell, resident's clothes are washed on an almost daily basis (that's a good thing!), with any and everyone's clothes washed together (understandable). Clothes are marked with names and/or room numbers but there is an issue of clothes getting back to the correct rooms. Items of my dad's clothes went missing on an almost daily basis as well as him wearing someone else's clothes because they were put in his room in error. He's not much for clothing details at this point. We were always on the hunt for who might have his "favorite" shirt on today. In the end, at discharge, I think we left with everything he started with. They do not check pants/shirt pockets and because of this my dad's fairly basic, new phone ended up getting washed and ruined and had to be replaced. Yes, he still has a phone as we like to talk to him whenever possible and he loves hearing from all of us. The center refused to reimburse the price of the new phone as, in part, with 60 residents, that's a lot of pockets to go through. If you only have one job (doing laundry), maybe a little more care/attention to detail should be taken. I'm sure in all the paperwork we signed at admission there's a disclaimer about entering at your own risk and them not being responsible for loss or damage to one's belongings and we'll definitely know better the next time we take him somewhere.

My hairdresser recommended I see the PA here. I really did not like the thought of having to drive…read moreso far, but I was very unhappy with my doctors office in that I rarely ever saw the same doctor and I felt that I needed to be under the care of ONE person. I have learned that you do not expect your physicians to genuinely care, but that as a patient, we should have an expectation that our physician is properly monitoring your medications, condition, any changes, etc, and act accordingly. This has not been the case for me and unfortunately I chose to just accept "whatever" when it came to my health... If they did not seem concerned, why should I. Wrong approach. I know, but... One day I was complaining to my hairdresser about how I was physically feeling. I was just DOWN and and at the point of breaking (ok, not ONE day... she is my hairdresser... lol. They know EVERYTHING about us, because lets face it, 3-5 hours in a chair every few months, they know more about you than your best friend!) She told me about this particular PA and HIGHLY recommended I see her. It took me a few months to make the appointment, but I was at the end of my rope. It was THE BEST DECISION where my health is concerned I could have EVER made. I was diagnosed with my issue in 1999 and I have NEVER had the care I am receiving now. Not in just the treatment of my illness, but she treats me like I matter. I feel as though she comes in to work that day just for me... her only patient. She is an INCREDIBLE balance of everything I need. Compassion, directness, honesty, sensitivity, and humor... personalized... and so many other qualities I could not possibly put them all down. The care I receive here has totally changed how I deal with my disease and trust me, that is a BIG deal. I simply cannot wait to get to my appointment every month. Yes. You read that correctly. I look forward to going to my PA as much as I do having a nice dinner, silly conversation, and a glass of wine with the girlfriends. My visits with her give me the immediate and long term boost to stay positive. No matter how I am when I go in, I leave, every time, without fail, with a MUCH better attitude and a smile. She provides WONDERFUL suggestions to implement into my daily life and always food for thought. I HIGHLY recommend my PA. Three things you should know: NEVER, EVER be late. I know as patients we are all so used to sitting in the waiting room for 15, 30, 45 minutes beyond our scheduled appt. time... will NEVER happen with her. EVER. It is SO awesome to walk in and have someone respect your time as we do theirs. She is INCREDIBLY organized and prepared. Give her a chance. I am uber sensitive and not accustomed to the level of direct that she is. Perhaps most of you are not as sensitive as I am so it will be a non-issue, but the first time or two I met with her, I was uneasy. Almost scared. LOL. Something told me to hang in there... because under that initial feeling I had, there was something that said "she is JUST what I need". And to this day, it could not be any more truer. I receive the MOST excellent care. As another reviewer stated regarding initial and random urine tests... "Be forewarned, they do not tell you this nor will they tell you when you will be tested again"... Yep. That is the case. And if you are there to be treated for what ails you and have nothing to be concerned about keeping hidden, then you will respect this, expect this, and be willing to comply. When under the care of a physician, it is their right and their responsibility (for good reason) to require such testing.

Man, I fly up and down the stairs right now thanks to the technique learned. Shhh, don't tell my therapist, but I do now take two steps at a time going down the stairs. From the medical staff to the therapists, the team was A+++. There seems to be a culture of service at the company that carries through everyone. I'm missing all of these people asking me how everything is going and if I need anything at home. I may even have to admit I enjoyed the 7:00 am therapy sessions (I'm not a morning person). Only observation was that as a diabetic the food was a tiny bit challenging. The team however was always ready to replace a dish if needed.

Needless to say we were terrified of everything. But on Dec 21, Dr Charlie Yang and his team went in and fixed it. .......fast forward We then had to start PT and my husband was needless to say, healing at an amazing rate on his own. We chose Ascent as his PT therapy. From day one, Will was amazing. Not pushy, worked at my husbands pace. Now my husband had been treated for a form of let's call it 'neuropathy' because nobody ever gave us an answer in CA for years. Where he would wake up with cramping and could barely walk. He was on two medications for six years. Will told us about DRY NEEDLING which is not allowed in CA. And my husband tried it. ...... One session- no cramps. We cried. My husband continues his therapy, he has just started playing golf on a senior league after 3 years of no golf. He is completely OFF the medications he was taking from CA, our GP here is thrilled. He will continue the dry needling as needed. This place is clean, kind, a great place to come. (Even after a wife make a wrong phone call-again, I am so sorry) Thank you Ascent.
