Do not use this company unless you are comfortable being left in the dark with little to no communication.
We reached out to Meridian Concrete on March 24 for a patio extension. Kevin came out the next day, described it as "easy," and said it could be completed quickly even mentioning it could have been done that same weekend if we had reached out earlier. Naturally, we expected a straightforward process.
We approved the estimate, paid the deposit, and asked about scheduling. That is where communication essentially stopped.
On March 27, I called for an update and was told my message would be "passed along." Later that day, we received a text saying they would let us know when they had a start date. I gave it a few weeks and heard nothing.
April 13, I called again and asked for a call back. Instead, I received a text saying we were tentatively scheduled for late May or early June.
May 4, I called and left a message. Again, I received a text saying we were scheduled for June 1 and could be moved up. I said yes, of course that didn't happen.
May 26, I called again. My message was "passed along." No call back.
On May 27, I emailed saying we were preparing for the June 1 start date. Only then did we finally receive a call from Brandon. We were told they could not start because another project was prioritized. Being a small business and "still learning" was mentioned, but taking a deposit and then going silent for weeks is not okay. We were told possibly June 2, and promised to confirm by Friday, May 29 at 3 PM.
May 29th, 3pm came and went with no communication (again). I called Brandon at 3:30 PM and as I was leaving a voicemail Brandon answered. He then said the project would start June 1 after all and that the project manager would reach out Sunday, May 31 with details.
May 31, shocking, no one reached out to us. I had to follow up again, and was told the crew would arrive between 8-10 AM.
June 1, the crew arrived and began work. Around 11 AM, we were told the project length didn't match the estimate. We agreed to extend it at an additional cost. The crew left that afternoon, and the next day they did not show up. No call, no message. I reached out again and was told they "couldn't get concrete."
Work continued June 3 and was completed.
After completion, we noticed the patio was not built to the agreed length. We later learned this was due to a crawl space vent, but no one communicated this or gave us the option to decide. The crew made that decision. When we asked, Ruben said he wasn't aware either, which raises the question of why the project manager was not on-site. This left our lawn with exposed dirt about a 1 ft by 12 ft section.
When we asked about a price adjustment, we were told it would be "only $86, not much." That may not matter to them, but it mattered to us. Had we asked for the patio to be extended that length, they would have charged us.
We were also given no care instructions despite their contract stating, "Verbal care instructions will be provided upon completion." Also no information about any warranty.
To be clear, the crew was hardworking and professional. Our issue is with the company's management and communication, specifically Kevin, Brandon, and Ruben.
At multiple points, we had to initiate every update. Dates were not honored, promised follow-ups didn't happen, and key decisions were made without our input.
At one point, it genuinely felt like our project was written on a sticky note somewhere, no one seemed to have clear understanding of scheduling or accountability. We received better communication on a $10 Amazon purchase than we did on a $4,000 concrete project.
We're not looking for an apology. The best thing this company could do is acknowledge they completely dropped the ball and improve their communication. Overcommunicating is always better than none. Once you take a deposit, you owe your customer clear timelines, proactive updates, and follow-through.
Based on our experience, I would not recommend this company and would strongly suggest looking elsewhere. read more
