Dr. Merickel saw our sweet Labrador Jasmine twice and Dr. Merickle was a pleasure to work with. We appreciated her!

When I finally got through they were not helpful in getting us into see them. I found Mission Veterinary Clinic and contacted them. They were able to get us scheduled with an appointment that same day and they ended up moving her appointment time up because they were concerned about her. Upon our arrival, the staff was helpful and welcoming. The vet tech that called me and attended to us was amazing and so compassionate. As well as the veterinarian. They discussed every result with us and walked us through some next steps. They didn't hesitate to answer any questions. Ultimately we were referred to Roadrunner Veterinary Services as a critical care overnight stay. From 7/20-7/21, I interacted with multiple staff and all of them were super helpful and kind. Even with my repeated phone calls almost every hour with questions or requests, they did not make me feel like I was overbearing and the veterinarian took time out of her busy day to talk on the phone with me to discuss my baby's condition and next steps. She was not rushing me, was patient even when I was emotional and let me know to call back if I still had questions. After some consultation on 7/21 with the veterinary staff at Roadrunner, they agreed to let me take my baby home to try some at home care. On 7/23, unfortunately she began to decline rapidly and I took her back to Roadrunner Veterinary. They took her back immediately and put us into a room. A veterinarian came in and let us know her condition and that it was time to seriously consider the hard decision of putting her to sleep. I said goodbye to my baby on July 23. I spent a total of 4 hours there that day getting to spend time with my baby for the last time and they did not rush me one bit. They put a notice on our door asking for quiet time as someone was saying goodbye. The young woman who asked the hard questions about what I wanted to do with my fur baby's remains was super compassionate and a great communicator. I recall having spoken to her when I was calling previously and she was compassionate then as well. I received more compassion and support from two different vets (Mission and Roadrunner) during one of my toughest life moments (that I have never been to) than from an established vet I had been going to for years.

We were expecting a wait as there sicker pets there, but we got back pretty quickly. Exam & x-ray and admitted. Our vet was upfront & informative. We got plenty of updates, proposed plan of care and plenty of options each step of the way. She came home minus stones. We were happy. I wouldn't have any problems taking our pets there or recommending them.

After the exam we discussed procedures and learned they have access to an anesthesiologist that specializes in animals. So that's a relief. On the appointed day we arrive and are taken back to the exam room to meet with the anesthesiologist. She carefully went over her portion of the procedure, the approach to getting our pup to sleep and a time restriction on the vet to further insure safety. When it was over, I got updates from vet, anesthesiologist to let me know how it went. Plus the tech went over in great detail what was done complete with pics. We appreciated the thoroughness and professionalism of all involved.

There are vets and then there is Dr. Bannon. I adopted a cat who needed dental surgery immediately…read more My local vet referred me to Veterinary Dentistry and Oral Surgery since surgery was too much for her. While the clinic was booking out months in advance, they saw me almost immediately and scheduled a surgery for the following week. The moment Dr. Bannon examined my cat I knew I had come to the right place. She knelt on the floor of the room with my cat. That showed me she was a true animal caregiver. The room was warmer and more welcoming than any other exam room I'd ever been in. Dr. Bannon precisely diagnosed my cat, explained everything in detail. She was so kind, personable, and reassuring with my cat and me - a combination rare in any medical practice. The clinic has board certified dental veterinarians and the experience behind the practice is palpable in every detail. The staff is superb. From Pam at the front to the nurses who lovingly cared for my cat during our visits and the amazing Dorothy who on the day of surgery was in touch with me by phone during every phase. The surgery was done impeccably. The aftercare paperwork was immaculate and thorough. My cat recovered quickly and well. I am forever grateful for this incredible place.

We called, told them our situation, they were able to work us in within a few days. After hearing our concerns, examining our baby, the vet gave us several options, which we immediately wanted this mass removed. The vet tagged team with another vet in the clinic, getting the surgery scheduled in the next few weeks. Everything went well, aftercare was explained, all our future concerns were addressed, follow up scheduled. The professionalism of their staff, great customer service skills, & skill set of both Vets will keep us at this great facility. Building was clean, large parking area, easy access to animals, makes this a wonderful place for all. We Highly recommend them

Suffice it to say, my wife and I were devastated. This will be the first time in our 49 years together that we will not have a cat. The staff at Pawz to Care were sympathetic and supportive and loving. Dealing with grieving pet owners must be tremendously hard on the employees but they were thoughtful, got us in in a timely manner. They brought us into a private room as soon as we arrived and in each sad visit treated our two girls with patience and respect. The process of losing your beloved pet is heartbreaking, but Megan, who provided the end of life service was sympathetic and caring. She told us helping a failing pet to die in peace and dignity was the greatest give we can offer. And they have been terrific and caring for office visits as well.

The concern: the front desk experience is inconsistent. When you get someone helpful, the process is smooth. When you don't, it becomes frustrating enough to reconsider coming back. Update - April 28, 2026 My puppy has been limping and holding her paw up while walking, so I called the day prior and spoke with Matthew, who was professional and helpful. He advised me to call at 7:30 a.m. to arrange a drop-off for evaluation. I followed those instructions exactly. I arrived at 7:30 a.m., called, left a message, waited for them to open, and called again. After waiting, I went inside to follow up and was told that if I came in before receiving a callback, I would be charged an additional fee and needed to go back outside and call again. I complied and called again, but after additional waiting, I called once more because I needed to leave for work. At that point, Bernice told me she had until 9:00 a.m. to call me back, in a dismissive and hostile tone. For context, I have been a long-term client with five pets currently under care, along with multiple pets prior to them. I ultimately had to leave. Shortly after getting into Albuquerque, I received a callback asking if I could return by 9:30. That was not feasible given the earlier delays and lack of accommodation. I want to acknowledge and thank Dr. Abernathy for the consistent care he has provided over the years, and Matthew for his professionalism. However, ongoing issues with front desk staff--specifically Bernice and Lexi--have made the overall experience difficult enough that I will be seeking care elsewhere. It is unfortunate to leave a provider I trust due to customer service concerns, but the inconsistency at the front desk has reached a point where it outweighs the quality of care.
