My cats have seen the vets at Albuquerque Cat Clinic since 2007. I really love Dr. Walker and all the techs and other staff! I love the cats only clinic as it doesn't just reduce my cat's stress but I also find it less stressful. Dr. Walker is great with the cats and the owners. She set my cat's broken leg years ago when she was just a kitten. My cat has never had any problems, you would have no idea that the leg was broken. Dr. Walker and her staff (and the other vets) give my cats the attention they need, she listens to the pet owners, fully explains any conditions and explains any and all treatment options in a very supportive manner. Dr. Olah also worked magic with one of my male tabby cats. I've had nothing but positive experiences over the years! read more

The staff are very friendly, knowledgeable, & patient, but they seem to always be running late. I'm at my appointment and have been waiting for 20 minutes. Not necessarily a big deal, but I have to sedate my cat for her to be seen without everyone being torn up, and the later they are, the less the sedation will be present. My cat needed some repairs after a cat-on-cat collision. My regular vet of over 10 years would not see him... disappointing... but the ACC would. I was very pleased and impressed with the service, the level of expertise and caring. They are also great communicators. Absolutely fantastic cat-only veterinary clinic in Albuquerque. I brought my vet-anxious kitty for a standard annual exam and Dr. Olah, as well as the vet techs, were fantastic. I am a big believer in cat-only vets, it really helps reduce stress/anxiety for the cats. It also means the vet and vet techs really know what they're doing when it comes to cats! They really listened to me when I told them my cat gets very stressed at the vet and even made notes for future visits. For the first time since I've owned my cat, a vet managed to draw blood without her screaming and running away - that is a miracle. Dr Walker is an outstanding veterinarian. She's an enthusiastic professional, patient, compassionate, and skilled. What a relief to have a veterinary practice we can rely on. Over the years we've had our own cats and have fostered cats for a public agency, so we've had experience with a variety of providers in the Albuquerque area. ABQ Cat Clinic is the best, hands-down. It just worked out that way: Every since I first had a cat, I've taken my furry little buddies to cat-only vets. A co-worker recommended the cat clinic within walking distance from where I lived in East Lansing, Mich., back in 1989. I was hooked. These vets have a passion for felines. In the end I didn't like the idea of having my cat having to endure the cacophony of big and small dogs barking, and who knows what other animals might be there during our visit. Cats are sensitive. Why make their experience to the vet worse than it has to be. So when I moved to Albuquerque, I found Dr. Emily Walker and Albuquerque Cat Clinic. She's a wonderful vet, who is down-to-earth, compassionate and not afraid to show she's human. By the time she first saw my cat, my cat was almost 16 years old, who had a decent life considering she started out with all sorts of maladies as a kitten. These prevented her from growing to the full size of average-sized cats, barely weighing in at five pounds. Immediately Dr. Walker saw that my cat had hyperthyroidism, something she's only seen in my cat's breed, Lynx Point Siamese. A mix of Siamese and yellow tabby. My cat was prescribed her first elder medication. Dr. Walker also gave my cat an anti-acid to help encourage her to eat more. My cat had never been a big eater, but it did help as much as it could for a picky eater. In my first meeting with Dr. Walker, she explained clearly all the laws and regulations required for having a cat as a pet in New Mexico. In Michigan there wasn't mandatory chip-implanting or various vaccines. They were all suggested. My cat definitely was doing better at home after following Dr. Walker's recommendations. A year later, we went in for my cat's annual physical, and I was concerned about her. Dr. Walker noted my cat was at the beginning stages of renal failure. She could live for years, or only a matter of weeks. My cat was then 17 years old, and I sensed I wouldn't have much more time with her. Dr. Walker was compassionate as we observed my cat's health decline over the next several months, and then in her final days. Dr. Walker and her staff were very helpful and caring, and helped me through a very difficult event. Just like with a physician for humans, you want a vet to have good bedside manner. Dr. Walker has that, and she has a good staff to support her. read more

This is coming from a future cat lady. I am thoroughly enamored with my cat. I know someday I'll have several rescues, when I figure out where I want to live out my days. Till then, I shower my love (much to my husband's dismay at times) on my fuzzy little kitty. So saying that I am an emotional wreck when anything is wrong with my cat... is an understatement. The beauty of it is, Dr. Walker and her team are also patient, kind, compassionate, loving cat people. And they have taken perfect care if my little guy. Even when he had to have all of his teeth removed. I think it was way harder on me than it was on him. They even took great care of me when I couldn't keep the tears from flowing as I worried, which is good for him too. They are excellent veterinarians and I will be sending all of my friends who have cats there! Love love love! read more

Only a few weeks after moving to Albuquerque my husband and I noticed our baby (the cat) was biting and picking at her paw and causing it to bleed and look infected. I immediately looked for a cat only vet in the area and was very happy to find the Albuquerque cat clinic. I called on a Monday and got a Tuesday appt. I took her in for an exam and saw Dr. Olah. He confirmed that her paw did have an infection and gave me some antibiotics for it. Upon further exam of her he noticed she had a few teeth that looked like they were inflamed and needed to be pulled. I really hate the idea of anesthesia on my pet, which is part of the reason I put off the teeth cleaning in previous years. I figured she was young (5) and could go a few more years. Once Dr. Olah showed me how much pain her mouth seemed to be in, I decided to book the appt. He also wanted to take an xray of her paw to see if there was anything that was causing her to pick at her paw so much. I got her an appt for her teeth cleaning and paw exam about a week later. I was very stressed out all day, but they made it a point to call me during the surgery and again after she was done and waking up from the anesthesia. They kept her overnight which I didn't like at first, but I know that both vets (Dr. Olah and Dr. Walker) came in to check on her after hours so that made me feel better. When I came to pick her up the next day Dr. Walker was there and she went over everything with me. They even gave me copies of her blood work and pictures of the xrays they took of her mouth so I could see what the problem was and what needed to be done. The cost of everything was really fair. I thought it would be higher than what they quoted me because she needed a few extra things done but it wasn't. 2 weeks later we went in for a check up with Dr. Olah just to make sure everything was looking good and she was great. Her paw was healing and her teeth no longer looked inflamed. With all the moving and getting settled, I don't think I noticed that the cat was acting a little "off" and not eating very well. Now I see how much happier and hungrier she is! Every member of the staff I encountered here was great, especially Dr. Olah who took care of most of my baby's needs. You can tell that he really loves cats and is also incredibly smart and educated about them. For as long as we live in Albuquerque, I will bring my cat here! read more

OLAH, OLAH, OHLA! Dr. Olah is absolutely fantastic! I had to start off with that. Took our precious kitty, Mr. Lola to see Dr. Olah after weeks of getting bad information, Dr.'s disagreeing with their counterpart, and still no answer for our cat, other than to say you may need to put it down. Well, not when it comes to Dr. Olah! He was so personable with our cat, the entire staff was friendly...Stacy, the technician, was great...Lola got meds, hydrated, and has a dental visit for a few extractions which is what has caused him to not want to eat and lose a lot of weight. The other vet, they had NO clue...even after 4 visits..... absolutely nothing to make the cat feel better, nor did they attempt to hydrate a dehydrated cat. I cannot speak highly enough of our experience...even though LolaBug still has a procedure to get his teeth extracted, there is no one else I'd rather have do it, and I imagine Lola is thinking the same thing. Best place to get all cat issues resolved. Dr. Olah is the best. Have had other vets in the area treat our cats for various issues including cancer. With the exception of Dr. Shottsburg at the clinic in Algodones (no longer ther unfortunately), none have been as thorough as Dr. Olah. I'm so glad someone recommended ABQ Cat Clinic. Dr. Walker is wonderful with my cat - he was much more calm for this visit than he has been at any other vet. She's also very personable and friendly, so the experience wasn't as clinical as vet offices can sometimes be. She obviously adores animals, too! My appointment was at the end of the day, so I expected things to be running a little late, but I was still in within 10 minutes of my appointment time. When my cat had a reaction to one of his vaccinations, the desk staff was very patient with me - I'm completely, neurotically in love with my cat so *of course* I was kind of losing my emotional cool over a little bit of cat barf. They were reassuring and told me to bring him in anytime if his symptoms worsened. (He was fine in a few days.) I paid about $150 for a yearly exam/checkup and his yearly vaccinations. I could go somewhere a little cheaper and get away with $100 or so, but the experience I had was so good I don't mind the extra expense. I'm willing to pay it when I know the visit will be less stressful for my cat and me. read more

My cat Mambo was a patient of Dr Walker's a few years back. I brought Mambo to Dr Walker for a routine examination one day and she advised that the exam might take awhile and I could just drop Mambo off and take care of some errands if I wanted. Trusting Dr Walker, I left Mambo at the clinic to take care of some errands. About 15 minutes later I received an urgent call from her asking me to return to the clinic as quickly as I could because Mambo was injured. When I got back to the clinic she told me Mambo's back leg had been shattered and I would need to take her to an emergency clinic for immediate surgery. The ridiculous explanation she gave me for Mambo's injury was that she jumped off an examination table and her leg was shattered as a result.. As usual, Dr Walker had an inexperienced and incompetent assistant helping her during the exam who was likely an unpaid intern. I suspected that some sort of negligence had occurred, but my immediate concern was to get Mambo treated. My belief as to what really happened was that Mambo was frightened and probably tried to resist being held still for an exam and was running around the exam room. Mambo may even have scratched or bitten Dr Walker or the assistant. The devastating injury Mambo received would have been more consistent with one of them angrily slamming the top of my pet carrier down over her in an attempt to catch her, and in the process shattering her leg. I took Mambo to the emergency veterinary clinic and she underwent surgery. Of course, Mambo's injury was my primary concern, but then came the bill. You would think that since Mambo's injury happened while under Dr Walker's care that she would offer to pay for the entire surgery but I had to pay about $2,000 out of pocket that day, half of what the surgery cost. Dr Walker's insurance finally reimbursed me, but I had to carry that financial burden for months. Sadly, Mambo's surgery was not successful and she had to have her leg amputated in a second surgery. So Mambo not only suffered a horrific injury under Dr Walker's care but also endured two major surgeries and months of traumatizing adjustment to her new disability. Mambo has never been the same since, obviously. Not only does she have to cope with getting around every day with a leg missing, she has a never ending fear off objects coming down on top of her. When she walks around the house she will move from under a coffee table to under an end table then under the kitchen table, etc. She always has to have some protection over her due to the trauma she received while under Dr Walker's care. Mambo had never displayed behavior like this prior to her injury. At the very least, Dr Walker, her assistant, and the Albuquerque Cat Clinic were grossly negligent in caring for my cat Mambo which resulted in her having her leg amputated. I hope that by posting this review that the reader will be able to make an informed choice about whether or not to take their cat to Dr Walker and the Albuquerque Cat Clinic. read more

We love this clinic. They actually love and care for your cat---which is something I have found lacking in other vets. My cat was difficult and Dr. Emily Walker handled him with ease. It was clear she understands cats. She is an excellent vet: compassionate, efficient, and knowledgeable. Dr. Walker spent extra time (via email, etc.) due to difficult circumstances in my life, without charging me. She obviously is not in this to glean money out of pet owners. Dr. Walker is great and so is her staff. They are very quick at making appointments especially if there is a problem, and they always call to follow up and make sure that your cat is feeling ok after shots or anything. Cat owner beware! On the surface this seems like a great place, but that feeling quickly fades. I found ABQ Cat Clinic to be overpriced, pushing medications and treatments that my cat didn't need. I felt they were taking advantage of people who love their cats and manipulating them into unnecessary treatments and medications. Routine vaccines also cost double here, which they don't tell you over the phone. I will be taking my business elsewhere. I recommend that you do the same. read more

If you are looking for a cat doctor, your search is over. Dr. Emily Walker is as good as you will find anywhere. As I am writing this, my 6-month old kitten Malee is lying next to me and purring. Dr. Walker just performed a declaw surgery on her a couple of days ago. We picked Malee up today and she is her normal self. No vomiting, no drowsiness, no signs of any issues after such a serious procedure. It took me almost 1.5 years to write this review. Our older cat Maisy is perched up in her condo and looking at Malee and me sitting on the couch. Dr. Walker treated Maisy last year when she was 6 months for spay and declaw. Again, no issues there. Dr. Walker is a competent professional as well as a truly caring person. She specializes only in cats and knows everything about them. She takes her time to educate you regarding the pros and cons of the procedures, vaccines etc. We truly consider ourselves lucky to have found her and wouldn't trust Maisy and Malee to anyone else. read more

Albuquerque Cat Clinic is THE best veterinary practice I have encountered in my lifetime. My dealings with Dr. Emily Walker and her staff have always been professional, compassionate, organized and extremely knowledgeable. I only wish I could still rely on this Cat Clinic for my two current cat brothers, Sky and Mica. Dr. Walker previously cared for Slater and Savoy with the best medical/surgical procedures and equipment possible. I am now living in So Cal and there is NOT ONE vet practice that specializes in cats or actually knows very much about cats in general. The closest cat vet to Temecula, CA. is in Carlsbad, CA., more than an hour's drive. I highly recommend the Albuquerque Cat Clinic to all who love and want the best care possible for their feline companions. 6 ******stars would be my preference! Definitely the best, and YES, as good as it gets. There aren't enough words to convey such outstanding devotion to their cat patients. Oh, and the cat's humans are treated w/respect and dignity in a warm and friendly atmosphere as well. Albuquerque and surrounding areas are so fortunate to have this cats-only practice.
