The Dolby Atmos sound system in the downstairs theater delivers crystal-clear, immersive audio that elevates the movie-going experience to a whole new level. The reclining, reserved seats are roomy/comfy. The box office and concessions team are super efficient and friendly, making the whole process seamless and enjoyable. The 2 smaller auditoriums upstairs are a little more hit or miss, but due to the care of the staff and the presentation of the feature are still better than the other theater in the area. One thing to note is that the Bedford Playhouse is normally closed on Mondays, and showtimes can be limited, so be sure to plan ahead, you may want to catch that new release but if you blink, you may miss it as films rotate in and out usually within 2 weeks of opening. Whether you're a film buff or just looking for a unique entertainment experience, this theater is a must-visit.

They're easy to walk and follow, with some viewpoints. However, due to the many leaves, most views aren't the greatest. Even though that's the case, it's still worth checking out the trail. Many other alternatives exist, including basketball, baseball, tennis, a playground, and the Tea House lodge, which the park recreation can be reached out to for events. I'm thrilled with the options offered. For the community and beyond, this is a beautiful park to visit.

This little park is a Mt Kisco resident location but we were somehow able to sneak in without a problem. There's plenty of benches, picnic tables, a pond with a pretty fountain, basketball courts, baseball fields, walking trails, you have it all! They even have wood available for fire pits. Was this your introduction to Woody Guthrie's music? It was mine. Was it Jeff Tweedy's voice you first heard performing classic Guthrie songs? Yep, I first heard the words of Woody Guthrie via Jeff Tweedy's vocals I grew up on alt country which is an amalgam of styles including Americana, country & western, folk, etc. The band Uncle Tupelo was an early performer of alt country and eventually that band split into two factions: Son Volt and Wilco. As you know, Wilco and British folkie Billy Bragg formed an unlikely alliance. They took old songs in which Woody Guthrie wrote the words but never set the music to and recorded them. The resulting album "Mermaid Avenue" became an instant classic and in my opinion is one of the top-5 greatest CDs ever recorded. That, as I mentioned above, was my introduction to Woody Guthrie. He was born Woodrow Wilson Guthrie in Okemah, OK in 1912. His father taught him Western songs, Indian songs, and Scottish folk songs. Guthrie was always a keen observer of life around him and his wry sense of humor surfaces in his music. Okemah, OK was an oil boom town. When the oil stopped flowing, it's residents were left "busted, disgusted, and not to be trusted." The Guthrie family experienced severe financial ruin and Guthrie took to the open road. Guthrie's experiences were similar to the Joad family's in the book "Grapes of Wrath". Listening to his music of the era, you can hear the similarities. Guthrie eventually landed a job in Los Angeles on radio station KFVD radio. He'd sing traditional songs as well as original material. This attracted the attention of the Okies who were living in migrant camps and picking fruit for pennies a day. It was during the Great Depression that perhaps Guthrie wrote his best material and "Dust Bowl Ballads" remains a classic. The Woody Guthrie Foundation exists to preserve his legacy through the archiving of his recordings, photos, writings, letters, and artifacts. Preservation of Woody Guthrie's legacy helps to broaden our cultural identity as Americans. The Woody Guthrie Foundation's purpose is not only to preserve his musical legacy but also to promote Woody Guthrie's ideals and the social, political, and cultural values that he sang and wrote about in his songs and writings. Guthrie was an adamant supporter of of the poor and common man. He supported union organizers that were fighting for the rights of migrant workers in California's agricultural communities. The proponents of the current anti-labor movement would do well to remember the words of his song "I Guess I Planted": "Union song, union battle/All added up/Won us all we got now." Guthrie's legacy lives on. Think about it! Without Woody Guthrie, no Bob Dylan. Without Woody Guthrie, no Bruce Springsteen. Not only has Wilco covered his material, so too has their predecessor band Uncle Tupelo. As for Son Volt, the other group that emerged from Uncle Tupelo, they have covered Guthrie songs too as well as naming one of their CDs "Okemah and the Melody of Riot". The Guthrie classic "This Land is Your Land", which like Springsteen's "Born in the USA" is grotesquely misinterpreted, was recently performed at pro-labor demonstrations in Madison, WI. Woody Guthrie's music remains as vital as ever. Preserve a part of our musical heritage and support the Foundation.

This tour was definitely a highlight of our trip! Captain John and Charlie were great and all the passengers aboard had a great time! We passed three lighthouses-Peck Ledge LH, Sheffield Island LH and Green's Ledge LH. Charlie, co-captain of Captain John, had just toured the inside of Green's Ledge LH the day before which is listed on Airbnb for $6,000! He went around the ship showing everyone the floor plan. It especially exciting to be on the Long Island Sound and to see the red and white towers from Northport, since I live on Long Island!! We were able to see several different viewpoints of the sunset and osprey nests as well. Definitely recommend to residents of Norwalk AND tourists alike!

Be warned, book tickets online and in advance. They sold out for day/time we wanted to take the cruise, but there were 20 tickets still available the night before. Plan accordingly. We arrived for a 3:30 cruise on a beautiful August afternoon. The cruise seemed to be full, and there was a mix of couples and families on the boat. The boat ride is smooth and relaxing. The boat staff was offering a "guided" tour, but it was tough to hear, so I gave up trying and just enjoyed the experience of being out on the water. The boat ride is about 30 - 40 minutes each way. You won't get wet, at least we didn't, and there are enough seats/room for everyone. Once you arrive at the island, you have about 1.5 hours to explore. They have a guided lighthouse tour, a small concession stand, a small beach (not one that you would lay out at, so no need to bring a suit), volleyball courts, nature trails, etc. This entire experience is set up to be calm and relaxing. There isn't too much to do on the island, but that's kind of the point. You are only there for 1.5 hours, and there's no way you can get that bored in that period. Just unwind and take in the scenery for a few minutes, it will clear your mind. They offer limited food at the concession stand, but you can always bring your own snacks as well. Next time, I will bring a few snacks for us, especially since our trip was over dinner time. The bugs - BEWARE. They don't spray for mosquitos, and as a result, they are everywhere. I didn't know bugs would be a problem in advance, but the cruise provides spray upon arrival for free! I brought my own SPF, but they also provided that as well. The staff is lovely and do anything they can to make your experience as pleasant as possible. This is the perfect low-key day trip, and I highly recommend it to anyone in the area.
