I chose Wellbridge because they assured me on the phone that they had both E-stim and Vitalstim treatments available. Genesys Hospital rehab had been using both of these with excellent results and this was my main requirement in picking a rehab facility. This was actually not true. They do not use either procedure, so if that is a requirement for you also, keep looking. Once she was admitted, I was told (a) the units needed new leads and weren't working (b) they never used them and (c) [by the head of therapy] that "she didn't believe they were effective and would not use them on her patients". As a result I believe mom's speech and swallowing did not progress as well as previously. All that aside, her female therapists were really great, worked to the best of their ability and I think they really cared about their patients, going above and beyond to try and make her stronger. If I was just evaluating the daytime nursing staff, I would give a thousand stars. The nurses she had on the 100 hall were beyond top-notch, really outstanding, as were most of the assistants. They are sometimes WAY UNDERSTAFFED. Since the population changes frequently, sometimes the workload is very heavy and sometimes it is normal. This is apparently not addressed at all by management (which changed mid-stay and things became much, much worse in the staffing department). One evening she had to wait so long after she rang the call bell that she tried to get into the bathroom herself, tipped her wheelchair over and broke her wrist, which required expensive transport and treatment at the hospital. Not cool, Wellbridge. The place looks like a fancy hotel, but that's surface stuff and doesn't mean anything to me, at least. The level and availability of care is much more important than how fancy the common areas are. The "chef prepared" food is ok. If you have to eat there with your person, they make wonderful salads. It seems to be extremely clean. I would strongly advise you to do your person's laundry yourself. I had purchased over $150 in new workout clothes to make mom's physical therapy easier and they all eventually "disappeared" in the laundry. In their place were a bunch of extra small trashy clothes that someone had put her name in and hung in her closet. Doing the laundry at home is a pain, but it's better than replacing clothes every week. Her old t shirts did not get lost, but everything new did, without exception. Some of the younger, male staff is a little rough and have apparently not been taught how to handle old, fragile people. When you're helpless it is really distressing to be shoved around like a sack of potatoes. She said it made her feel like she didn't matter and she cried when she talked about it to me. She may have been old, but there was nothing wrong with her brain. To summarize, this is not the best facility, but it is certainly far from the worst. I would say in total they are mediocre with some stellar standouts. The dedication, caring and empathy of her nursing staff and assistants made up for a lot of the frustrating issues that we experienced.

I was a loner before I moved here but now I participating in activies all the time. I would love to see these fdollks get more money for what they do. I have observed other residents come to life in activites! I have observed nurses aids comfort folks with dementia. The housekeeping folka, therapists,and dinig room staff make this a warm, friendly and wonderful place to live.

It seems relatively straight-forward to get an appointment. We typically arrive 5-30 minutes early. The patient is usually called back on time so the wait time is usually not longer than the amount of time we arrived prior to the appointment. Check-in is smooth and sometimes there is additional paperwork to complete. The mode of the care was patient and inquisitive, assessment is quick and any additional steps are provided. Maybe the whole visit lasts an hour. The local also conveniently has a Quest Diagnostic on site if blood work is required. The patient is informed as to whether or not to expect follow-up calls.

Wow. I have had a couple of surgeries before and have many doctors in my family so I'm well-versed…read morein the medical field. This place is nothing short of amazing. I had a lot of anxiety about getting an endoscopy here but the staff answered my questions so many times with care and concern. As soon as I arrived, I was greeted with a smile and compassion. The staff was a little behind on schedule and they continued to apologize but I didn't mind because it gave me time to make some prayers beforehand. The nurse with the pink lemonade nails was a total joy and made me feel at ease! The anesthesiologist was so warm and friendly. When I got into the room, Dr. Nathan Landesman actually took time to speak to me, asked me questions to understand my concerns and reason for visit. He continued to give me space to ask him anything I needed. All with a big smile! The anesthesiologist in the room, Dave or Dale, I forget, was so kind and made me feel so much at ease. Absolutely incredible recovery. I woke up having my mom by my side and another absolute sweetheart of a nurse who kept me comfortable, hydrated and got me snacks. She was an angel! Dr. Landesman came in afterwards and informed me all about the procedure and made sure I was feeling comfortable and doing good. He let me know everything he found and made me feel reassured and helped give advice on treatment and a plan to further investigate my pain. Anyone who has gone through this knows how physically demanding and exhausting a 24-hour liquid fast and prep are. When we arrived, he honestly mentioned he took a tiny sip of water an hour prior. The staff immediately treated him with hostility, acting as if he had committed a crime. While we understand there are medical guidelines for sedation, the paperwork they provided explicitly stated that a sip of water was allowed with medication. Because the instructions were ambiguous and poorly written, my husband made an honest mistake. Instead of explaining the medical risks calmly and professionally, the staff treated him like a nuisance and rushed to get rid of him. The worst part was the absolute lack of organization and accountability afterward. I called to see how we could resolve this since he was already completely prepped. First, they told us to come back at 4:15 PM. Then, they took it back, stating they close at 4:30 PM and "didn't want to stay late" if the procedure ran over. Then, they offered an appointment for the next day at 12:00 PM, only to call back again and cancel it, literally telling me that he "doesn't fit in the place." The clinic director was incredibly disrespectful and defensive. They refused to help, refused to accommodate him after making him go through a grueling physical prep, and refused to even refer him elsewhere. This level of laziness, poor communication, and complete disregard for patient dignity is unacceptable. Do not trust this place with your care. They care more about their clock-out time than human beings.
