on a recent trip up to Sacramento, one of my fellow bikers noticed they had a tire that was worn out. I called Merced Powersports as soon as they opened and was able to secure a new tire and also an appointment for when we were to be riding thru Merced. As soon as we got there, they took the bike into the shop. We had lunch across the street and by the time we finished, they had the tire mounted and ready for us to continue our journey. SO sad and Upsetting, I have been shopping for a new Honda and found the bike I want at Merced Power Sport! super excited they had the bike in stock sitting right here on the floor! Unfortunately after asking to buy the bike, I was told that because I did not live within the Merced city limits, I would not be allowed to purchase the motorcycle, I let him know I don't have a Honda dealer in my City. he said Unfortunately that is the policy and I would be unable to by a Honda from them. This is super sad, I was told this is discrimination, but I'm also thinking its their decision to not sell to people they don't want to, what do you think? read more

Absolute worst place to both buy or have your maintenance done. Took my quad in about 2 years ago and nothing but delays delays and delays. Every time I ask for an update they keep piling on excuses. What started as simple routine maintenance, ended with my quad torn apart, sitting on the floor outside, for months on end. To this day, they won't fix the quad or come up with a solution. They keep talking about parts delays and supply chain issues and blah blah blah. I don't understand how something so simple as a routine maintenance can end with no fix, my quad torn apart, and left out in the weather. To this day they don't call back, they don't give an update, they don't even provide a solution or end date in sight. Best I have gotten is some ridiculous offer of a discount on a new quad. All i want is my quad fixed and given back, after all this time i don't think it's too much to ask. Point of the story is BUYER BEWARE, and never bring your vehicle here for maintenance. My next complaint will be to the Better Business Bureau, maybe they can help getting me my quad back, in ONE piece. read more

Went in there today to look at generators and quad. First guy behind the counter said he can't help me because he was not a sales license. That was understandable. Then the sales guy came. I asked him about 3000 honda generator. He was short and didn't give me an actual price. He said around $2500 to 3k. Well that unit cost around $1500. Then ask if he can look up. He gave me run around. I asked about quads. Grizzly 700 or Kodiak. He just shot out high numbers with out checking for me trying to get the sale. I felt like he just wanted me out of there and was trying to scare me with high price. It was not a race thing. I am Mexican and he was Asian with sleeved tattoos. I am a successful general contractor. He didn't know that because I was not in work clothes. I usually spend my money locally to help our economy. Trust me I will never step foot in there again. I will take my business to Modesto. Now that I see all other bad reviews. They are similar to mine. Glad I didn't purchase anything there. read more

Great folks in there. So helpful! It took all day for me to figure out what I wanted but we bought two 2200 generators with amazing service! Brought a quad here for a family member to get fixed and bought a pair of Oakley's that they had for sale at the sales counter. I think I paid $110 for the glasses with cash. After my family member went to go pick up the quad when it was fixed they wanted to charge them $110 for the sunglasses so I called the business and the manager told me that I did not pay for the glasses and I told him there was no way they would have let me walk out of that store with a pair of Oakley sunglasses without paying for them. I asked him to talk to the kid that was working at the counter when I bought them and dropped off the quad but coincidentally he doesn't work there anymore. I think what happened was since I paid with cash the kid kept the money and just wrote on the tag that I still owed for the sunglasses. The guy did not care what I said so my family member had to pay an extra $110 to get the quad which was bull crap because like I said there's no way in hell they would've let me take a pair of sunglasses out the store without paying for them right then and there. read more

I brought in my Yamaha V Star 1100 Classic to the service department at Merced Powersports. It was great to do business with the service department. One of the employees, Colin, was very professional. He's friendly and is willing to listen to you and help you with getting your bike serviced and back on the road. Merced Powersports is lucky to have Colin as their employee. He listened to all of my concerns that I had regarding my bike and he went out of his way to see to it that all of the required maintenance was done on my bike so I could be safe on my motorcycle. It pains me to write this, because small motorcycle dealerships need help. The seating position on my current motorcycle is uncomfortable for my wife since her arthritis has gotten worse. She loves to ride, so I was looking at other big, touring bikes. On a visit to a relative in Merced, California, I stopped by Merced Powersports, which sells both Honda and Yamaha. The two bikes I was considering, the 2018 Gold Wing and the 2018 Yamaha Venture, weren't in stock but were on the way. (These are both luxury touring motorcycles that sell for more than $25,000.00 out the door. After reading reviews, I eliminated the Yamaha because of reports of excessive engine heat.) I explained to the salesperson about my wife's problem and asked if we could get a test ride on the Honda when it arrived. I told him I would drive up to Merced from Los Angeles when the bike was in. There is a large, mega-dealer closer that allows test rides, but I liked the idea of supporting a small, local dealer and of buying the bike in Merced and driving it back to Los Angeles, and I told him that if my wife found the bike comfortable, I would buy it from him and drive it home. He told me they didn't normally allow test rides, but that in this case he would arrange it, A few months past while we waited for the bike to arrive. Finally the salesperson texted me to notify me that the bike was in, and then again wanting to know when I would come by. My wife and I arranged to visit Merced mid-April, and I called and spoke with the salesperson, only to find that the story had changed. Now it was, "We didn't sign up for the test-ride program, and the bike isn't serviced, and we don't do test rides." Other than a delay in looking for a test ride in the Los Angeles area and my disappointment in someone I thought was a good guy, this interaction hasn't cost me anything. I'm writing this review because prospective buyers should be aware that the salespeople at this dealership will tell you something but then don't feel obligated to keep their word. read more

I have never been treated so rudely from a service person. The young dark haired boy refused to change an inner tube on a dirt bike tire. He claimed that his equipment was turned off. Why stay open until 6 if you stop working at 5:30? When I asked "so you can't do it?" He replied, "you can just leave!" Huh? He said "if you want to give me attitude, you can just leave". I wasn't "giving attitude". The nice lady at the counter looked embarrassed at his treatment of me and the other young man who sold me the tube so I could have it installed elsewhere was very nice. I don't believe I'll ever take my business there again and I'll be sure to share my experience with all my motorcycle and dirt bike friends. read more

I went in to purchase a quad on two different occasions. The first time last week, we walked around the store, sat on an atv outside, and saw 2 employees walk past us. No one ever asked if we needed help. We left and went to surrounding towns and received significantly better service. After making the decision on what to buy and wanting to keep it local we tried Merced Power sports again. Upon walking in and walking over to the quad we wanted we were greeted by an associate but even on my comment that we were looking to buy never stood up from his desk to talk with us. I purchased a motorcycle from them in early February, and here it is mid May and I have not received my license plate from the DMV. So I went to the DMV to find out that Merced Powersports has not completed the paper work! I talked to the person at MPS this morning, that handles the DMV papers, and said he would get back to me in 30 minutes. well they are closed now so maybe I will hear tomorrow. I have never had such a bad time at any OEM Dealership for any type of vehicle. I brought my Goldwing in for a water leak, they checked it out diagnosed a water tube on the engine, they changed that, then said a head gasket was bad.I also approved that repair. When I got it back body panels were not installed correctly and bulged, and some lights didn't work. Plus it still leaked! I took it back they said they had to cut the cracked ends off of water hose. I asked them to replace the old hose, they said they were completed and the hose didn't need to be changed. I went to Red Bluff CA. Parked and watched the water leaking on the ground. I called the Manager of MPS and was told they would have to charge me, if the cause was not what they worked on. Money was never an issue (however I did make them stick to their quoted prices when the labor charges changed) I just wanted the bike to quit leaking. I ended up taking all of the body panels off myself and finding the thermostat housing leaking on top of the motor and evidence of it running off around the head. When I did tear it down I didn't see evidence of items disturbed, bolts an nuts didn't have shiny threads.There was dirt on wrench faces, like they were never removed. None of the water tubes were new. This was some time ago, it took me a couple of months to trust my abilities over their attempts. I finally figured out they couldn't make the repair. I wanted to sell the bike in good condition and get a new Goldwing. The service I received from my local dealer, MPS, made me shy away from any OEM brand they represented. Bob Merced read more

WORSE sales experience in my entire life!!! First time I went there to get front and rear tire changed and balanced, they told me my bike will be ready at 3.30pm so I went over there at 3.30pm to pick it up, unfortunately there mechanic got arrested this morning,strange but can happen these days...so I waited till 6.15pm in the shop for my bike, NO apologies STILL charging the FULL price!!! I went back month later and they had a bike for sale, talking with "Sales person" regarding price, I got everything lined up in one day, insurance, bank, cash and went back fully excited to get the bike....then the price has changed UP another $1000 what I didn't expected and instead of trying to find a solution for the situation I get jelled at from this lovely "Sales person" so I left this freaking shop during this argument!! I was never treated like this before in my entire life and for me it is clear. I'll NEVER EVER GO BACK TO THIS SHOP!!! Plenty of good products, but horrible customer service. Sales people seem to not care or want you in the shop unless you walk in and shove a check in their faces. Nobody in parts knows what's in stock, they've ordered the wrong things for me, and acted like its all my fault when it wasn't. My experience today was literally with the three stooges, and it's not the first time. Don't buy anything from here unless you have to. read more
