We were in search of Filipino food which led us here which was just half a block from our hotel. The restaurant we were loooking for was permanently closed, luckily there were many different food kiosks to choose from. They had a bar with a dj spinning upbeat music on the second floor and more food options as well. We got there around 8:30-ish so it was kinda crowded. I ended up choosing pho and spring rolls from the kiosk on the first floor which was offering Vietnamese food. They also had a bar downstairs minus the dj. Don't worry though, the music from upstairs can still be enjoyed (?) from the first floor.

This international street food market was recommended to my family by a local on our first evening in Madrid, and we are so glad we went! In fact, we loved the food and experience so much, we had to come back at the end of our trip to enjoy some more delicious foods. The market is set up with a series of small stalls, with each stall offering a selection of foods from distinctive cultures around the world. Our only problem was that our stomachs weren't big enough to try something from each stall! Some of our favorites: the Korean style corn dog, the Plantain Arepa, and of course, crepes. Our group tried a variety of foods from different stalls and there wasn't a single one we didn't enjoy. When you are in Madrid, be sure to put this market on your "must-do" list!

Mercado de San Ildefonso, for us, is not a market but more like a food court with not only Spanish food but American and Asian food. The decor there is modern, cozy and clean. Their food was decent with affordable price compared to Mercado de San Miguel (However, you definitely can find a much cheaper place in Madrid.) and It was one of the best places for drink with Tapas. Most stores served samples that you can try to see you like it or not before you order.

I came here for lunch, because it's closest Mercado to me. Compare to others this one is a little bit smaller, 1.5 floors. Probably less than 20 vendors. But you can get Korean, Spanish. Meat and seafood as you wish. Price is decent. I ordered one of the dish is grilled pork, it's kinda expensive for Madrid. A half portion of pork cost 15€, come with two small pieces of bread and sprinkle of salad. Also I was not very sold at the beginning that they said they have steak and pork at the same price but the pork is their specialty, and they also asked me how I want to cook it. I chose medium because I thought we usually cook pork well done??? The meat is nice and smoky taste which is good. Still juicy. They definitely put a lot of salt on top which I think it's in most of the tapas dishes. The food was ok.

Fun place to eat with a group of friends. Nearly every type of cuisine is available...Korean, Spanish, Mexican, Peruvian, Argentine, Asian fusion, crepes, and two bars. Fun DJ and music. It is fun if everyone buys a little plate and shares. Three floors of seating in this food hall. Good prices and staff is good about clearing the tables.

    Interior sitting area, great design.

I visited 2 marcado's while traveling in Madrid, the San Miguel is much better if to compare the two. This one has less option to select from, and the portions are normal size not tapas so you cant try to much unless you are in a big group. The steak station is very good, the tacos are tasty as well but very big and they fall apart in your hand (if the owner is reading this i advise using double shells). Stay away from the salmon tartar its bad, a lot of oil and i dont think its fresh. The cocktails/wine station have a great sangria. There is plenty of sitting inside and outside and the place looks hip and young. I was there around 2pm and it wasn't too crowded.

I actually fell in love with this mercado, I don't know. I like the 2nd floor where people sit together. This mercado is very small, but they have coffee! The first floor has beers, sandwiches, and patatas bravas. The second floor has fries, seafood, coffee, and jambon. The third floor is a bar. I felt more comfortable eating here by myself (yes by myself) than other mercados in Madrid. I feel like a tourist in other mercados. In this one, I felt I can be in my own world (yes please leave me alone) and nobody would bother me, and I wouldn't stand out. I don't want to stand out! Also: - the staff takes your garbage away - yes, you can actually make friends with people around you - and yes, you don't have to. - there are a lot seating, not just the 2nd floor Oh and sangria. There's sangria somewhere. Technically there's sangria everywhere in Madrid.

    Assorted fried seafood

Has a large amount of seating available and a lot less crowded and less pricey than the other Mercado nearby. Definitely recommend if you want to have access to an assortment of food.

Went around 1pm on a Sunday in October but the 1st floor was already full. So decided to sit below. Ordered the Korean fried honey chicken which was ok. Give the Bao at the Gyoza place a miss. Definitely not worth it. The burger place below is good. But if you don't wait at the counter chances are that your burger gets delivered to someone else and you keep waiting. We had to wait around 25-30 minutes as our burger was given to someone else.

It's a modern food court/market type of place in the corner of a building, sort of hidden. Very charming and rustic, yet festive. It's open so you could see the other floors, and that gives the entire place a vibrant and open feel. All the food choices seemed delicious and of good quality, like most food in Spain. Moreover, you can find all types of cuisines, so if you're with a group the everyone will find something they love.

L'tassi has these guys that come in all and every flavor and will rock your world.

Awesome place for locals and expats and students alike. Mostly all the vendors speak English. DJ's and good vibes. Wine is about €2-4 a glass and €12 - 20 a bottle. Food is relatively priced. My favorite was L'tassi. Those little balls of goodness were life changing so make sure you get those while you're there. Worth every euro.

My friend who is a local made me discover this cute market in the center of Madrid. The first time we visited the place it was really early around 1pm. There was literally no one, it was quiet, we had the terrace for ourselves perfect to enjoy a coffee outdoor and have a snack. There was different shops proposing tapas. As it was quiet they had the time to explain all the tapas, they propose you nicely to try it and you can order if you like. Prices are ok between 3 euros to 10 and more depending of the plate. When we came back days later it was in the evening and it was crowded and they had a DJ which I found really nice. Excellent place to have a glass of wine after job, with friends or to have a date :)

A few restaurants too, notably the famous "Casa Dani" is located here, most recently made popular (to non-local foodies) by Netflix's "Somebody Feed Phil". I arrived on a Monday morning around 10:30am so the atmosphere was pretty low key with mostly locals picking up groceries, grabbing a bite to eat, with a couple local tour guides bringing around 1-2 tourists on personalized tours. Vendors were still setting up/unloading some items for the day. It was fun to check out the variety of items at each stall, and pick up a couple food souvenirs. Opening hours are 9am-8pm Mon-Friday and 9am-2:30pm Saturday, closed Sundays. Vendors take cash and card in most cases though always good to bring a little extra cash for smaller purchases with local vendors.

I was lucky enough to come on a Sunday during the Tapapies cultural festival. There were performers outside, and plenty of activity and great food inside. Each stall had a special "dish" for the festival in addition to their usual offerings. The prices were VERY attractive, almost "happy-hour-ish" where you could get a tapas/beer for 2-3 euro pp. Not bad at all. I think I spent 2 hours here and maybe spent 15 euro total? Came back the next day for a repeat lunch - around 11am - and nothing was open except for a butcher stall and two fishmongers. I think some places started opening up around 2pm, but then they were closing an hour later, so very easy to miss some of these places during the early part of the week - if they're even open at all. You'd have better luck for dinner if you came around 7-8pm. The downside to this is with fewer markets open, those that are open do tend to get crowded, and patrons tend to hang out and take it slow. TL;DR. Great food, great prices, larger and not as crowded as other Mercados, and not as touristy.
