I arrived too early for my room to be ready and was referred here when I asked for a coffee shop nearby. There are some spendy things on the menu if you're really hungry, but I was just here to kill some time. Menu in English with prices displayed. I opted for a cup of coffee (with milk) and as is traditional in Europe, this is per cup. They don't brew huge pots of coffee here. Each cup is basically an Americano. Good flavor, plenty of caffeine. With it, I had the toast with butter and jam. The butter was in packets, but the jam seemed handmade and was very sweet. Perfect breakfast food. As a mid-afternoon snack, we stopped at Harina for a few sandwiches. We ordered: - Chicken sandwich - Roast beef sandwich - Salmon sandwich - Anchovy & tomato sandwich The first three are on thin sliced bread, while the third was on flauta bread. I enjoyed the anchovy & tomato sandwich, but the other three were just average. To finish it off, we had a slice of apple cake which was good, but not exceptional. To wash it all down & to cool off, we ordered some mint lemonade. It was very good and refreshing! read more

I really enjoyed my meal here. First, the view was perfect. Looking out at Retiro and the arch- plus being able to people watch, perfect. We ate inside, but the outside tables were nice too. We loved our seat by the window. We had sparking water, wine, I had a roast beef toasta and my husband had a chicken salad. We had an ENORMOUS meringue for dessert- the biggest meringue I've ever seen- about the size of a large grapefruit. The roast beef was served with onion jam and delicate salad greens. It was very nice. The only downside was the bread- which tasted a bit stale. They bake the bread right here, I think, so I don't know why it tasted stale, but it did. That's my only complaint. My husband loved his salad and we both thought the meringue was fabulous. I eat meringues all the time- they're one of my favorite things, and this has to be one of the best I've ever eaten. The waitress got very very busy as it neared 3pm- and it was difficult to get the bill, but we were on vacation, so no worries. Service was very good- I don't know how the server handled all the tables she did. I think it would be tough to eat a quick meal here when they are busy. The pizzas going by looked fantastic- wish I could have tried on of those too. But I was very full after eating here. read more

Stopped in for a quick breakfast. Great location very close to the entrance of Retiro park. We were seated right away but it took about 10 minutes for someone to come over and take our order. Once we did our food cane out within 5 minutes. Ham and cheese croissants were a good size and came slightly warmed to make the cheese melt a bit. Food is excellent but service (wait staff) not good! We had to keep getting up to request menus and ask for service even on a not busy afternoon. Be prepared to sit and keep waiting long for your food to arrive! Which eggs twice came cold as the waitress forgot to bring it out from kitchen. Day-2 I had remind to bring our eggs so that we get warm food and not cold eggs. We ate twice here and both the time they messed up the orders and got something different. Sure its a little pricy, but it has the freshest quality of vegetables in salads and sandwhiches. It tastes clean and yummy. Beautiful interior. Friendly waiters. The heated COOKIE with ICECREAM is amazinggggg so good a musthave. A little to sweet and need to drink coffee or tea with it though. And the chicken hamburger is clean and yummy and so is the wrap. Hidden gem. Not sure why the rating is so low. Also, the pizza and salad lunch deal is the catch. 10 Euros only for a full whole pizza, great quality, they clearly bake it when you order, cuz it's fresh and the cheese really stretches out. The pizza you can choose, the salad, you can't, but it's an amazing fresh salad with a great vinagerette dressing. read more

As a explorer and foodie, decided to try this place by their interesting concept. These guys are lucky because the place is located facing to Retiro Park, otherwise it's a big deal at all. The first impression of the interior was hard to identify because of its weird set up. After more than 3 min waiting to get helped, that was pretty obvious of a poor customer service and lack of management. Finally seated and ordered the Tuna Empanada which was okay and Spinach Tortilla which was the tasteless tortilla ever tried. When claimed to exchange it the waiter (the semi-blond guy) told us, they all are like that = means tasteless! The survival part of our experience was the dessert, the Carrot cake (5,40 Euros a piece). Overpriced but delicious, although this was the first and last visit at this place! read more

Love this cafe'! Our 3rd visit! Great homemade soups, nice tapas, homemade lemonade with mint, and the pesto wrap is amazing! Baked good as well, very well done! Also wonderful view of Puerta Alcala and outside dining, as well. read more

Harina is good, but you need to know this restaurant is "Healthy and raw" you probably will not find any SUPER TASTE food, because they focus in make food clean and not too much salty or sugared, so is good if you are on diet :) read more

I can't really write a review because I didn't eat or drink a thing here. I stopped here on a nice night for a drink before heading to dinner. The place was packed with similar people enjoying the view of Independencia which is why I ordered and cancelled my sangria, after waiting for 15 minutes. Looks like a cool bakery and a nice place to have a drink with friends--I just couldn't get served that particular evening :) read more

This is a cute little breakfast place very near Gran Via. The location is outstanding but on a cool morning it does not get the sun that the other places on the roundabout get which can make dining out a bit chilly. The coffee was exceptional. But it always is in Spain. Simple cafe con leche executed to perfection. Breakfast options were limited and although the quality was good, I did not have many options outside the traditional toast, olive oil and tomato breakfast. Nothing outstanding though and they served an average grade olive oil from a small container rather than a high end variety like across the road at Cappuccino's. Good selection of breads and overall a nice little bakery, but not a great breakfast option with several better places very close by. Price was about triple what you pay in Sevilla, and about 30% high for Madrid. Really about average is all I have to say. You expect more in Madrid. read more

Harina is located super close to park del retiro. They have nice awesome "breakfast" (not your American breakfast) the Spanish one I had while I was there. The place is super cute and so were the waiters. Esos españoles I mean the food was delicious and their presentation is super cute. I had the protein breakfast. read more

Service is very slow.. it seems understaffed.. they bring the meals incomplete and takes up to 7-10 minutes to get another drink. Waiter brought a "toast with egg and salmon" dish without the toast, asked to bring it and 10 minutes went by with no answer. We had to stand up and get our toast.. all the items in the menu have a surcharge if you eat in the terrace... i wouldn't mind if it was serviced properly. Lastly we were waving at the rushing waitress to ask for something and the manager/owner who was just standing by came to the table and said.. " she is busy as soon as she finishes you can call her" . How hard would it have been to ask what we wanted? Food is "meeh".. nothing you can't find at any salad/wrap place in the middle of any mall in North America for half the price . read more
