Meraki is the best place I found. I have taken a few classes and loved all of them. I also use the open studio option to go in and work on other projects. Debbie, the owner is the best. I am thrilled Meraki is in a walkable Eagle Rock location, with easy parking and lots of cute surrounding shops and restaurants. There is an adorable shop up front of perfectly curated fabrics, sewing accessories, projects, and small treasures while the mid area of the space opens into a creative shared table area. If you venture past the rainbow quilts all the way to the back you will find a treasure trove of Juki sewing machines, set to host a group of new to advanced sewers along with a large table area in the back for a variety of craft projects. My children are in 1st and 4th grade and enjoyed the 2 part Crochet class. When it was a bit difficult for my younger one, Debbie scaffolded the entire thing and made it possible for her to learn, feel successful, and feel like part of the group. We have also tried the finger knitting blanket class and now my 4th grader can make gorgeous blankets for friends and family. The sewing classes for 8+ are incredible. My eldest has loved going in to learn how to make tote bags, pillow cases, and a variety of other sewing projects. They also have camps, which we are eager to try someday. Most recently we hosted a very special birthday party here and I can share that it was incredible, lovely, and probably the most present I've ever been able to be at one of my kid's birthday parties, considering Debbie took on most of the labor! 11 children made pillows together, along with adorable rainbow keychains and they really had a blast. I was so impressed to see my little one sewing away on the machine with her dad next to her and the older kids jump right in. Many of them made 2-3 little pillows, even though they had never sewn before! Debbie's instruction is clear, easy to follow, and she has a great deal of patience while sharing how to create these masterpieces. It was really nice having mochi ice cream in the middle table area too- Debbie had everything needed for a party in case things were forgotten. The little fridge helped too! It was very reasonably priced and an unforgettable experience for the kids. We hope Meraki will be on this cute corner for many years to come! read more

Meraki has been such a fantastic addition to the neighborhood. I've taken intro and intermediate sewing, the backpack class and just finished up a class learning how to make a boxy shirt and have loved and learned so much from all of th. It's also a great spot if you just need to borrow a sewing machine for an afternoon at an affordable hourly rate. Meraki is an amazing shop and community space. Debbie the owner is always so helpful, and the shop is bright and beautiful. My daughter has taken crochet classes here. I've been to open studio to hem curtains I got from IKEA (those overly-long curtain panels!). And more recently, Meraki was there when I needed to buy a last-minute seam ripper (tried on a dress I hadn't worn since pre-covid and, surprise, it didn't fit). I took an intro class with Debbie after more than a decade off from sewing, and it was an absolute delight. I looked forward to the evenings there to chat with other others looking for a creative outlet and to get the excellent instruction and use of their facilities. Our daughter has been going there for a year now for open studio, and it has been such a tremendous joy in our lives. The creative space is warm and inviting, the staff is incredibly friendly and supportive, and my daughter has learned so much. She hand made Christmas presents for all her friends and family, using the crochet skills she's learned. She's also learned to sew and do other crafting skills, and the fact that she prefers to make things with her hands than be on screens is incredible. Her and her friends go over there after school once a week and it has been a wonderful addition of a safe third space in her life, where she is not at home or at school and she can hang with friends in a safe, positive, creatively uplifting environment. Meraki is a combination shop/studio/workspace in Eagle Rock. When you first enter you are met with a large variety of colorful fabrics on bolts and squares for quilting. It's easy to at first think this store is focused solely on quilting, but as you look around you'll find embroidery kits, crochet tools and other tools of the fiber arts. While I do not quilt myself, I've heard complaints about a dearth of new and creative patterns in fabrics. If you are one of these artists, you'll be pleasantly surprised. I saw bolts of fabric that I've never seen at Michael's or Joann...even the Fabric District in DT Los Angeles. As I moved to the back of the shop I realized how huge this space is. Passing through more samples and quilts I got a good sight of the work area, which is enormous. Checking on the website, I saw they have a quite extensive set of classes focused on either making a particular item (a bag or tote), or introducing children or adults to sewing, crocheting or needlework. They also offer very inexpensive "quilting bee" sessions, where quilters can work on their pieces together and potentially advise one another. Knowing the labor involved in making quilts, I can imagine that is quite attractive to the artist. If you are a crafter, with a particular emphasis on fiber arts, this place should not be missed. read more

Meraki Creative Lounge is such a gem in Eagle Rock! The studio is filled with beautiful and whimsical fabrics with which to work on lovely projects. We had my daughter's 8th birthday party at Meraki Creative Lounge in Eagle Rock and Debbie is amazing. She is so great with kids, we had 13 kids ranging from 5-9 running around and they all walked away with handmade projects they were proud of. On my first visit to Meraki, I was stunned by the huge selection of gorgrous fabrics! The prints are very contemporary, colorful and fun, perfect for sewing up a cute skirt, shorts, pants, a top or tote bag. These are mostly cottons in quilting and tote bag weights, so there's endless possibilities for fashion or crafting. The front of this building is a compact retail shop with sewing supplies and fabric, then there is a long shelf that runs all the way back into the studio area that is lined with bolts of fabric. The back area is an awesome, light filled warehouse space with tables and sewing machines for the classes and camps that are scheduled here. If you love to sew, or even want to sew, this is a 'must see' in the village of Eagle Rock (it's on Colorado Blvd. across the street from Trade Joes, if that helps you find it more easily) do note the days and times it's open, so you come at the right time! read more
