STEPH JUDGEMENT: Adorable cat cafe with adoptable cats and cat merch. Totally stumbled upon this place after leaving the Clockwork Bar next door! Can't believe we didn't notice this place on the way to the bar, but perhaps their sandwich board wasn't out yet? Anyhoo, the hubby and I are crazy cat people so of course we had to go in. Apparently this is the first cat cafe in NYC! All the kitties are rescues and adoptable, and there was quite a crowd in the visiting room, visible through a window from the lobby. We were short on time so we didn't play with the kitties, but we chatted with one of the super-friendly staffers for a bit and bought some merch to support. So glad we found out about this place--long may they live! read more

Cute cafe where you can book 50 min spots to play with kitties. Was super excited for this session as I have a cat back home and have grown up around a lot of cats but was a little disappointed because these cats weren't as friendly or are just sleeping. Makes sense since there are so many people coming in and out throughout the day. read more

Love the work that Meow Parlour does -- saving cats and helping find adopters. The staff are so nice and the cats are very very sweet! It's clear there is a lot of care taken to make sure cats are comfortable and having fun and safe. There are some ground rules, and you have to take your shoes off or where shoe covers so as not to track anything dirty inside. A really comfortable and fun space to hang out with some cats! read more

From their social media to in-person interactions with the staff, it's clear that Meow Parlour genuinely cares for their cats. I've been skeptical of cat cafes in the past, as some seem to prioritize profits over caring their cats. But Meow Parlour truly put the cats first, and it shows in everything they do. Here, you can play with adorable cats while they are waiting for their forever homes. Remember to respect their house rules: no flash photography, and don't wake or pick up the cats. It's a wonderful spot for cat lovers, and maybe you'll find a new furry friend. Highly recommend booking a spot here, all while supporting their mission of rescuing more cats. It is around $23 after tax per person for a 50-minute session. read more

I had never been to one of these places. But my son wanted to for his birthday. And I am so glad he did. Not only did I get to play with the cutest cats but I felt so relaxed and the tension I had been feeling for planing a trip was gone. We are from LA, Calif. the place was clean the staff was kind, and the cats, adorable. I won't be able to drop by this place anytime soon because I live across the country. But will be looking for local cat cafes in my city. read more

I don't understand why this place doesn't have 5.0 stars! What is there to complain about? $23 to play with cats for an hour and your money goes to the rescue. The space is clean and large. There's a clean bathroom too. The cafe window sells items you can bring inside while you play with cats. They have merch for sale too. All of the staff is so kind and friendly. I've been to all the cat cafes in NYC and this one is my favorite. I've been here 3 times already. The cats are very young so they're very playful and they are very comfortable around humans. You can't pick them up but some come up on your lap just because they're curious. You can tell they're very well taken care of. If I were to ever foster or adopt, I would do it through them. read more

I got to visit this establishment and was very happy with my time here. Had a 2pm appointment and you get 50 minutes. Upon entering I was greeted by the front desk staff and told they received my waiver. The previous appointment still has time so I just waited in the lobby. Upon time to enter, we were giving the house rules and asked to keep one door closed before hoping the other to the cat room so no escape artists would get through. Asked to sanitize our hands. Then we were free to enjoy. Staff is always around to help or if there were any questions. The cats were lovely to interact with. Some may be waking up from a nap and some may be sleeping. They enjoyed the light pets and toys. The awake ones really like the wand toys. I enjoyed my experience. Will be back. read more

Great place to mourn your little one. I petted, my partner cried and left. The gift shop is amazeballs

The cats are 1000% the cutest most loving adorable creatures ever! You would think if ur looking to adopt a cat it would be a way easy process given your not a psychopath and wanting to give a cat a way better life then stuck at a cat cafe would be ideal but not with this place. Too many rules and requirements. Went to adopt and got denied because a kitten was too playful to take home ? lol what a joke. Would not recommend this place to adopt AT ALL. read more

This is such a cute spot! I wouldn't call this a cafe as there isn't any food or anything like that being served. However, the kittens are all so well cared for. You can also submit an application to adopt them so it's nice to see them roaming around the space with plenty of toys before being adopted. There are also plenty of toys you can use to play with them. They are a bit strict with the time slots you book, however it's understandable because you don't want to overwhelm the kittens with too many people. read more

On a recent trip to NY I signed up for cat yoga. It was $32 and included 45 minutes of time with the cats and 45 minutes of yoga. It was a small class, about 8 people, which I appreciated. The cats were so adorable and I really liked the yoga class, I definitely got a workout. I really wish I could have adopted a cat, but I live across the country. If you're ever in town or if you already live nearby, I definitely recommend making a reservation for the cafe or yoga when it's offered. read more

First of all, love the concept of this space. Not just a cat cafe but an animal shelter as well. Sometimes I just want to play with the cats at other shelters, but feel pressured to be a serious adopter in order to do that... love that Meow Parlour encourages the socialization while also giving you the option to adopt - if you'd like! Of course, we do have to pay for the quality time but for $16 I'd say it's worth it. So after 2 years in a pandemic, I thought what better Christmas gift to give my mom (+ other family members) than an experiential one, playing with her favorite things in the world: kitties!! We all had such a fun time, and the awesome staff helped to make the whole experience a seamless one. I had originially booked a slot for 5 guests in January, but with Omicron still lingering around I was able to easily move our date online to late February instead. I also wanted to "privatize" our time slot (basically renting out the whole space for 50 min) so I reached out via email and got a prompt response from one of the co-founders. After minimal back and forth, she was able to accomodate my request. I paid the balance and was confirmed for a private booking. Easy peasy! I was allowed up to 10 guests total but there were only 7 of us, so the space felt comfortable for all of us to just sit around and pet/play with the cats. I loved seeing them sleep peacefully on the comfy beds and/or prance around the space. The owners + staff definitely give the cats here a great quality of life, even if it's short-term! It makes me so happy that the cats get to socialize, grow and thrive at this lovely temporary home. I've been thinking about adopting one at some point, so whenever that time comes I'll be coming to Meow Parlour first. 100% recommend if you are a cat lover! read more

Note that they currently close at 6pm, check out their appointment calendar online. This place was very cute, clean, warm and inviting. When you first walk in there's a nice selection of cat related merchandise you can buy to support the business. I was very tempted by some of the shirts i saw. We came at the end of the day (5-6pm appointment, $16/person) so all of the kitties were resting from a full day of interaction. It was a pretty peaceful experience, and by the end of the 50 min time slot, some of the cats were ready to play a little. It did feel a little awkward when it felt like people competed for the "playful" cat(s) attention, but in general everyone was very respectful of the cats and each other. It might be more active during the day time, but go in with low expectations on interactions with the cats. We came late to our appointment so only had about 20 min to enjoy the experience. If we came earlier then it seems like to nice place to chill with a snack/drink and occasionally pet a kitty. read more

I've never felt more uncomfortable in a space that was supposed to be relaxing. The staff (or volunteers? unclear) were incredibly overbearing. Constantly hovering, watching us like hawks, and making it feel more like supervised visitation than a cat café. We were told not to pick up the cats, which is fine in theory, except the staff themselves were constantly grabbing, carrying, and moving the cats around. At one point they even dragged a few cats off their little play tower for no reason. It felt unnecessary and honestly kind of distressing. The whole vibe was bizarre and tense. If you're hoping for a cozy, welcoming place to connect with animals, this is not it. read more

Been meaning to stop by here for the longest time and was not disappointed! Make sure to book an appointment (50m time slots) in advance if you want to secure time with the kitties! There's a waiver that would be required for all parties prior to entering (and done for the reserver online). Bag and clothes could be hung at the front, and shoes must be taken off and put in the cubbies by the front. The staff was very welcoming and warm, but they're also serious when it comes to the rules--so please respect them (e.g. do not attempt to pick up our fur friends). They have lots of cute cat merchandise available at the front and some beverages available from next door. The space itself isn't huge but cozy, especially with the cats. All of the cats my friend and I interacted with were very cute and not shy of humans. Some were more up for playing, while others kept to themselves/their other cat friends. The cats come through a shelter partnership and are available for adoption if it's a great fit! Coming here definitely did not disappoint, and I'll have to make it back at some point! Nothing like spending some time around cute kitties and all. read more

First time visiting a cat café. The "café" part of the place is... serviceable, but of course you came for the cats. Place was a little more cramped than we anticipated, and a few of the guests hogged some of the cats (though I don't necessarily fault the staff for the latter), but we had a nice time. Meow Parlour is reservation-only and they make you take your shoes off upon entry, so wear socks. All of the cats are lovely, adorable and eligible for adoption. Great place for cat lovers and (well-behaved) families. read more

I almost made this a three star review, but chose to go with four stars after my interaction with the staff and hearing more about their mission. I expected a bit of a larger, more open space where I could cuddle with cats (with their consent of course). But this space was quite a bit smaller, and there were around 10 people in the space, all of them vying for the attention of a few cats. It was crowded and busy for my personal taste. That's not their fault. And the employees told me weekdays are much less hectic (I'm just not usually in the city on weekdays). All of the employees are super nice, and you can tell this place prioritizes feline well-being above all else. They explained to me that their cats come from a cat rescue in Bowling Green, KY, which funnily enough, I live near. They told me they have almost a complete turnover of cats every two weeks. They have very careful adoption procedures in place to ensure the best placement for the cats. Please note weekends are reservation only, weekdays it's recommended, but not required. And there are rules. Vaccination, no shoes, don't pick the cats up, don't wake the cats up, etc. This wasn't my style, but I respect their mission and the employees are great reps for the organization. read more

It was a great experience. I took my sisters who are 17 and had to sign waivers for them and myself. You take your shoes off and leave them in the cubbies. Drinks from their cafe are welcome into the cat area. The cats were pretty friendly and ranged from kitten to elderly (willow is 17!); the newer members were shy but still interactive. Staff was sooo helpful & kind. I hope these angels get adopted. read more

Who doesn't love spending time with some cats??? I thoroughly enjoyed spending some of my time here at Meow Parlour. You have to sign up for a time slot, which is around $17 total for about 50 minutes. Though I signed up in advance, about half of the people who were in my session were walk-ins, though I would recommend signing up early so that there is a guaranteed spot for you or anyone else you're with. You have to take off your shoes before playing with the cats. All of the cats and kittens are from a local rescue and are adoptable. The cafe is next door, I did not try anything since I was too busy with the cats! They have a tiny shop setup at the entrance with cute cat goodies like stickers, soap, earrings, etc. The employees were very nice and respectful. In between sessions, they take the time to clean and sanitize before the next group comes in! There was a bathroom located in the back of the room for customers to use. read more

I booked private hour here and it was the best thing ever for cat lovers. My daughter wanted her birthday with the kitties so I emailed them to book the hour. The owner is very nice albeit a bit slower than I am used to for responding to emails. She took 2-3 days for my first email inquiry about booking the space. And then it took another 2 days to confirm my date and time. So please keep this in mind if you need to book for a party. It was very affordable- 160 for the hour and includes 10 people. Food from cafe is extra. They told me no outside food was allowed, they could make a cake, and no candles can be lit due to the kitties. For anyone concerned about age limits- when you have a private party- children can be under age 9 as long as there are a minimum of 2 adults for party of 10. 10 is the max you can have for a private party. We arrived approximately 10 min prior and I let them know my group was there. They were busy finishing up with the other group and cleaning. And then we were let in and my kids were told to remove shoes, sanitize hands and to put any coats or bags in the front. Now to the kitties... so many cats and kittens. Summer is a good season to play with lots of little ones though the adults were pretty fun too. I loved the decor and the set up of the space that is human and cat friendly. The cake we ordered was 45 dollars for a 10 inch and was pretty tasty but only had two choices of flavor. We loved the kitty plates. My daughter and her friends absolutely loved the space and were planning the r next visit or how to get a kitty permanently. It really is a great space and the owners and workers were super kind and patient with everyone. I would highly recommend for a small party. read more

I was surprised by the size of this cafe given its location in Manhattan. The entrance is a cafe with a few tables, with the typical cafe menu. Drink prices are typical for the area and I got an iced matcha latte which tastes fine. If you are not going for the cats this can be treated as a normal cafe since you don't need to pay the entry fee for the cafe part. I reserved the entry ticket online and went into the cat area behind the glass door. You take your shoes off and sanitize your hands before going to where the cats hang out. And yes you can bring your drink with you. The cats here are very mellow. They are OK with humans touching and coming near them, but mostly they just lounge around and napping. There were a few adult cats as well as a few kitten/teenage cats. The play area has three floors and plenty of room for the cats to walk around. I also appreciate that there are a few nooks here and there that humans can't reach, in case the cats don't feel like socializing. I believe you can also adopt a cat from here, in case you fall in love with any of them. The perk is that you know these cats are definitely more social/chill and get along with other cats and human. Highly recommend taking a visit if you want a relaxing time with coffee and cats. read more

True story: Came in to kill time and play with cats. Walked out filling out an adoption form for two kittens. 3 days later, we went from 1 cat and 1 dog to 3 cats and 1 dog.... On weekends, definitely make reservations. We got lucky on a Saturday to only wait 20 minutes next door at the bakery, but it does get packed. They charge by each half hour, so keep track of your time. When you first walk in, you take off your shoes and sanitize your hands. They brief you on what is and isn't allowed (you can't pick them up, they need to choose you), and then you wander off to play with some cats! All the cats are adoptable and the process is fairly simple. You put in an application, if they think you're a good fit, you set up an interview. This is on a first come first serve basis on who interviews first, so be quick! We got an email early the next morning and set up an interview for the same day. It took around 30-45 minutes and we got approved! Two days later, I was able to go pick up Biscuits and Gravy (now renamed Toro and Uni). The newest members of the family couldn't have fit in better :) read more

We have had absolutely stellar experiences at Meow Parlour! We adopted our two beautiful feline siblings from them during the pandemic, and the entire process was not only easy from our end, but also very thorough, which gave us a lot of confidence in them as a rescue organization. Pick up was smooth, and it was great to be able to check out their location and meet members of their staff in person. They were super friendly, clearly love cats, and were very knowledgeable about what was best for their diets and care. We also popped back to drop off a donation of kitty food (again, very helpful and accommodating staff) and have supported them with a monetary gift to ensure they can keep doing their wonderful work. Definitely a great spot to meet your future feline friend! read more

I adopted a cat from here a few weeks ago. The whole process was very efficient. The staff were all very pleasant to deal with and it showed that they really do care about these animals and want them to go to the right owner. We had a meet and greet with Turnip and were made aware of his behaviors and likes and dislikes which was great. Later that day I signed the contract and we picked him up. Meow Parlour is a place I've been visiting for years and will continue to support for the wonderful work they do. What started as a cat cafe only has become one of the best places in the city for fostering cats and getting them adopted. The cafe itself is cozy with lots of toys to interact with the kitties as well as places for them to hide/sleep if they are not feeling social at the moment. It's obvious how much they care for all the cats that are there. Most cats stay just long enough to get socialized to humans and other cats and get adopted weeks or a couple of months after arriving. The snacks are provided by Macaron Parlour next door with a nice selection of pastries and drinks. The character macarons are particularly cute and the croissants are some of the flakiest. Also home to one of the cutest windows in the city when the kitties are having their afternoon naps in the sun. read more

If you love cats, you will love your time at the Meow Parlour. It was $16 for 50 minutes of time with the kitties (make your reservation online and fill out the waiver ahead of time). Being COVID times and all, they check vaccine cards and ID and require you to wear a mask the entire time unless eating or drinking (there is a cafe next door you can order from). We got there for the 12pm session. The earlier session was still in the process of leaving so we were a few minutes behind on being let in. Once inside, you need to remove your shoes and use hand sanitizer while they tell you the rules (don't pick up the cats, let sleeping cats sleep). There were 7 people total at the time of my reservation, and plenty of cats! The kittens were super playful and friendly. The older cats were far more mellow but very sweet. I could have easily stayed longer and will definitely come again for my next kitten fix. All of the cats are adoptable! There is also some cute merch (shirts, pins, hats, jewelry, etc.). read more

This is a cool little adoption shelter were you pay .... to play with cats and kittens. It's set up to look like a living room/ play room where there is seating and tables. The cats and kittens are free to roam around as they wish. There is also cat cafe next door called Macaron Parlour, which sells drinks and food, that they will bring over to you. During my visit, there was this adorable little black and white kitten what was so full of energy and loved to play. Butters was so adorable and full of energy. She loved to play and wore me out, running around the room and playing cat toys with her. I tried taking a clear picture but she wouldn't stop moving around. All my pictures of her came out fuzzy. There are many cat toys available for you to entice the cats into playing. Some cats are sleeping so refrain from disturbing them. There were older cats there too, that liked to be petted but sat around or slept. There are also cat books and games if you wanna just hang out. Reserve your half hour slot in advance, online, in case they sell out. The shelter only allows a certain number of people inside at one time, in order not to disturb/ frighten the cats with a crowd of people. Or you can just come on by, fill out the form and sign waiver (If there are still slots available). Its much easier and faster to do it earlier online, then you can pretty much, walk right in, after telling them your name. Kids are welcome but only at certain hours. Check website and reserve, because the most popular slots will sell out. $7 for every 1/2 hour. They also have special events: Yoga & Kitties: 30 minutes of kitty time, A 45-minute beginner-friendly yoga class, 15 minutes of cooling down. Mats provided. $22 Drag Bingo: Join Goldie Lox and Ona Louise for a fun night of drag bingo with cats. Includes 2 hours of time in the cat space, 6 game cards and Free pizza. $25. Note: You'll need to take off shoes and clean your hands with anti-bacterial. According to the website, the cats are most active when the place opens and more later in the evening. Final note: All the cats/ kittens are available for adoption. I had such a great time playing with Butters, I wanted to go again, the next day. Looking forward to my next visit. read more

I love cat cafes and was so excited to come here but I was so disappointed $24 each to sit in a crowded room waiting for ur turn to pet a cat is terrible. The other cafes I've been to it has never felt like there weren't enough cats to play with but here there were multiple people just sitting around staring at everyone waiting for their chance to pet a cat this was just a very awkward environment I would not go back. The cats that they did have were very cute so maybe if they didn't let so many people in at once it would've been better but literally any chance I had with a cat someone else was staring me down waiting or trying to get their attention... safe to say I left early don'twaste ur time read more
