Walked in on a Sunday afternoon, was greeted promptly by a sharply dressed salesperson who seemed enthusiastic about helping us with our wedding party rentals. After spending approximately 15 minutes with us, that salesperson disappeared and someone else seemed to be taking care of us. We originally though he was just helping our salesperson with the paper work, because there was no introduction, no explanation that sales and rentals are different departments (I guess?). Not sure what happened there, but this second salesperson handing us paperwork and asking questions.
We wanted to rent 4 sets of suit pants and vests (no jackets), a button down shirt, ties, and shoes for groomsman, and a full suit (+shirt, tie, pocket square, shoes, etc) for my fiancé. We didn't love any of the ties, and weren't sure he was writing up the correct vest. There were no samples to try on an no other options/suggestions given.
The new salesperson wasn't very knowledgeable about the products or the pricing. (Not necessarily his fault- maybe he's new? still, please provide better training. He was extremely nice and genuinely seemed like he WANTED to help). He wasn't super helpful, and seemed to be there for the single purpose of just writing things up. I guess our salesman saw a better opportunity across the store? Not clear, since there was still no explanation given.
New salesperson/clerk asked us for a deposit without being able to provide the cost for each rental. We were told that he wouldn't know the exact pricing until everything was put into the system, but it couldn't be put into the system without a deposit. (um, what? I'm not giving you my money when I don't even have a price or rental agreement).
I asked him to enter the choices and our info into the system so that we could get pricing,. He did so, and STILL could not provide us with the definitive cost to each of our groomsman. The price was "gonna be arounnnd $150-160, give or take with tax you know,"
When I said we'd like to shop around, and asked if he could keep our info on file, we were told that he could keep the paper copy for us, but someone would have to re-enter everything into the computer again.
This is when another employee walked by and VERY rudely, overly loudly, and with much attitude said that "this is why it doesn't go in the system without a deposit because now there's no way to remove it."
That's when we thanked them for our time and walked out. There was no need to speak to anyone that way, whether it was to another employee or (clearly the case) directed toward us.
What should have been an enjoyable part of the wedding planning process for my fiancé became frustrating and disappointing to him. Sorry MW, but if you're going to provide a service in the wedding industry you need to step it up in a lot of ways.
I wouldn't go back there if even the rentals were free. We did not feel like a priority, we didn't get a sense of confidence from the employees, and quite honestly, the options we were presented were quite limited with no suggestions outside the box for alternatives. Save your time, money, and peace of mind when it comes to your wedding day for somewhere else. read more
